I want a 3rd down ILB with some speed to cover TEs WRs and RBs coming out of the backfield.
The WRs coming out of the backfield killed us.
That's a good point. I do think we can cover them with safeties and nickel corners if we're competent on the back end though. I wonder if the Rams surprise us and go WR3 in free agency so they can go corner and ILB in the draft.
I'm guessing by letting Pleasant walk, then this resigning and the addition of McDuffie, that they decided the sole issue was CB play and possibly scheme, which may have been dictated by CB play. Also, possibly the lack LB coverage ability.
So expect more CB help in FA/Draft, and hopefully more speed at LB.
Also, by addressing TE with Higbee, CB with McDuffie, and S with Curl. Assuming they add another FA CB, they could be setting up an attempt to move up for a player they specifically want. Styles? Tate Love?
If not then trade back for depth at LB, DT, WR, CB, etc...

What about bringing Witherspoon back? I know he's not a CB 1, but I think he could be a good CB 2. I know last year, he wasn't too good for us, he was hurt for most of the season, but the year before he played great for us in the playoff.
I am not saying the Rams could not up-grade at several positions (Cornerback 2 ... Off-Ball-Linebacker) but ... at this moment ... is there a single starting position that is open for the 2027 Team?
Personally, I would like for them to add
... another Cornerback (competition for Forbes or a solid #3) .
... another Wide Receiver to provide insurance for Nacua (play style) or Adams (age) missing time
... an upgrade over Quessenberry at third-OT
... another ILB (pretty much any one with a heart-beat to replace Reeder)
... MUST either re-sign Garoppolo, or add a decent veteran back-up

Continuity is as important in the defensive backfield as it is on the offensive line.
Now maybe use a third or fourth rounder on a good cornerback and we are set.
The rest of the guys can fight it out in camp
Glad to have him back. Makes safety a less likely high pick.
Snead did say that this was a really busy time for him. I really have to wonder if he's working on another big move. I like this signing and think we would have regretted letting Curl walk.
I think part of the problem is with our cornerbacks being so average, the safeties weren't allowed to be free to do their thing in intercepting and creating big hits.
They were too busy covering receivers that the wide receivers couldn't handle.
I expect better safety play out of these guys, (safeties) due to better cornerback play.
Especially more chances at some interceptions in my opinion.
All I know is that McVay has called Kam Curl "a stud" and likes his versatility and toughness and that's good enough for me.

Okay, so this definitely means that McDuffie plays mostly outside though I think that he plays inside in dime with Lake which we play an ungodly amount.
Rams wanted to live in dime last year and then once Lake got hurt our D started to fall apart. Rams gonna live in dime again with both McDuffie and Lake but if one gets hurt they can stay playing it too next year.
