He's had 5 years to mold this team to his liking and if you're happy with where we are at than ok but I'm not. I think fisher should be doing better with all the draft capital and time he has been given. I have nothing against fisher and he seems like a great coach to play. But projecting forward I think this team can ultimately be better with another staff developing Goff and implementing a better offensive identity/scheme. Some fresh ideas/changes are needed in my opinion.

So he gets on the field, does good, and wins us games. Is it still a coaching issue?

With Fisher it will always be a coaching issue.Simply because he is just not a good coach.
History has proven that time and again.If you give a bad coach enough talent he will win games.
The fact is that our level of talent suggests a better record than what we have.There are coaches
capable of maximizing the level of play with whatever talent they have.Jeff Fisher is not one of
those coaches.His teams typically under perform to their talent level.That is the mark of a poor coach.

I would say the majority of teams don't have that. Even the ones that do sometimes have a hard time winning.
Fisher is working on his seventh consecutive season without a winning record, dating back to his time with Tenn. It's been nearly 13 years since a Fisher coached team won a playoff game.
I'm done calling for people's heads as I believe this franchise's problems are bigger than any one person. I only ask that Fisher be held to the same standards as his contemporaries.
You win, you keep your job. You don't, you won't. And not be given special exemptions for QB play when other head coaches don't get them.
I think at the pro level, yes the players have to take as much of the blame.
But I'm not in favor of firing the coach where I still see players playing hard. See how the players' attitudes were towards Scott Linehan and Steve Spagnulo vs Jeff Fisher.
I'm not in favor of firing a coach who could turn the team around. But 4 and 1/2 years of bottom of the league offense, top of the league in penalties and continually coming out unprepared for games gives me no confidence that suddenly he's gonna turn it around for the next 8 games.
He's not being fired. He got a 5-year deal. His job was to build a winning team. He failed. Thus, he doesn't deserve an extension. Send him to the retirement home.
I like the idea of Fisher getting a 3 year extension and allowing us to see how things turn out with Goff at the helm and some experience. I can see him being here when they open the new stadium and like someone else said I think Kronke has a higher opinion of Jeff than a bunch of people who don't write the checks.
Of course! I hope that I am wrong! I have just been a little pessimistic lately.
Fisher wasn't given anything. He built the roster. Through the draft no less, something not many teams can do. Roster is still young but that will change starting next year. So all this talent you talk about is because of him and Snead.

When I was talking about Fisher's history,I wasn't just talking about his history
with the Rams.
Some would say that he has upgraded the level of talent on the Rams.I would agree.
one definition of a good coach is someone who is capable of getting the most out of the
talent at hand.Our talent level has increased tremendously yet our record doesn't reflect it.
Another trait of a good head coach is one with a feasible plan,a team mission statement or identity.
Fishers plan is to play good defense and run a "ball control offense." Nothing wrong with that.
Low risk football requires low mistake play and consistency.Low penalties low turnover ratio.
A undisciplined football team is a team that is not consistently coached.There may be other
aspects of a teams under performing ways that can be excused away.This is not one of them.
I'm not going to go on about the inability or refusal to adapt,the refusal to accept responsibility
for the teams shortcomings,(the finger is always pointing outward).

Here are two,who are or were in our division.I don't particularly like either of them,but they will have their
teams competing for the playoffs on a consistent basis.

If this was year three of Fisher I could understand the defense of him, but we have FIVE years of play to look at when evaluating his ability as a coach. It equals FAILURE no matter how hard any of you try to church it up.
You do not extend a losing coach whose team doesn't play any different at year 5 as it did in year 1.

Fisher is the one refusing to play Goff. Why in the hell would we give him an extension because he refuses to let us see what we have? You don't reward a loser because he has a mystery box and refuses to open it until you give him what he wants.

Keep Goff on the bench and then think you deserve a year to see what he can do?

Pete carroll went 7-9 twice before he found his franchise QB in Russel Wilson.
Jim Harbaugh could probably be an example but he did inherit his talent. Look at his drafts from 2011-2014. Very poor IMO and went 8-8 his last year.
If you look at all the good teams they all have something in common. They have franchise QBs. Fisher has had subpar QB play throughout his Rams HC career. Yea fisher is a stubborn SOB but we won't know what this team can truly become until Goff plays. He is the key to all of this.
So yea. I want to see Goff lead a fisher team before I call for Fishers head.
