Or he sounds like maybe he got tight and froze up a bit. Not sure if he is really representing all the players on D or just him? Because he was fairly invisible. Players still have to make plays, especially a pass rusher. He does not depend that much on scheme. He just needs to beat his man doesn't he?

I would be more concerned if Lake came out and said that the secondary didn't know what they were doing.

I’m talking about the defense as a whole. JSN caught 10/12 targets, Kupp caught 4/6. There were plays where the receivers were wide open and they were moving JSN around getting him the ball on creative plays. That’s scheme and out coaching our defense, and what I’m referring to.

^This doesn’t mean that Verse and others didn’t freeze up as well. The Seahawks ran the ball for 2.9 ypc, so the d line did step up in that regard, but we couldn’t stop the passing game.

I love The Pivot. It's definitely my favorite podcast out there.

I don't know about that. The shecocks are a very good team. We got outplayed. One or two plays changes the outcome. It really can be that simple. That was not the other team doing whatever they wanted. If it was, it wouldn't have been close.
Whatever want is a hyperbole but they did in the passing game. I elaborate more in my previous post.

Nobody else thinks these comments by Verse are ALARMING?

"We mentally shut down"
"We didnt know what to do"
"Theyre not just laying down"

Chris Shula has to be called into question here too. Rams need a defensive RE-VAMP.

I agree. How the hell does a coach not see that happening in the game? I put the blame for our defensive decline on Shula. Our corners aren't good enough. to cover for very long and that was obvious about halfway though the season. So what's the solution? Put more pressure on the QB. The Patriots sometimes had 8 guys at the LOS, disguising their fronts and confusing Darnold. The Rams rarely disguised their fronts and tried to rely on pressure from their front four, which seemed to wane the last part of the season, and play a soft zone behind it. I really Hope Shula and McVay take a hard look at their bend-but-don't-break philosophy during the offseason. For as much talk as our front four got during the year, they just didn't get there the last part and Shula failed to make adjustments.

Just curious ... and an honest question.
Did you watch the entire 42+ minute podcast, or read the post and article containing the above-noted quotes (which were accurate)?

Thanks in advance.

Not related to the NFCG game was when he mentioned about McVay calling him in the office during the season and telling he was not finishing and to not just do your job that he need to/ could be more (paraphrasing).

He is still a very young player learning how to be great. I truly hope he continues his relationship with Aaron. Who is a better mentor to talk to about Genuinely digging DEEP and finding your Very BEST?
