Ramsey is 30, not 32.

From Miami's standpoint, why would they rather eat the entire $20m dead cap hit and no value back instead of eating a smaller number in trade while getting value back?

Not getting that logic.
It takes two to tango. It would have made more sense if the Rams traded kupp, but everyone knew he would be released if that didn’t happen. The Rams obviously preferred a trade but there were no takers. The same could happen with ramsey, despite what the dolphins/ramsey want.

I think the cap hit comes close to doubling. Not sure release is in the cards.

Different situation though. Kupp was on the 2nd to last year of his deal, so the cap hit to cut him was less than that of keeping him. It would have been slightly more advantageous to have traded him, but his cap number for the team to acquire him was completely unreasonable. Therefore, yes the league knew he was being cut, because they knew nobody wanted him at that number
Ramsey on the other hand isnt being moved over money, in fact Miami would prefer to keep him for cap reasons as to move him will be detrimental to the cap. And where Kupp would have costed a big cap number to a new team, Ramsey will come with a very low cap number.
Players can demand trades but the team isnt obligated to facilitate one. If Ramsey cant be traded, Miami will likely keep him on the team and try to make it work, they wont release him, because they cant. They would take an immediate 30 mill dead cap hit, and then another 19 mill of dead cap in '26

According to Spotrac an outright release would result in a cap savings of minus 14.3 million. Which isn't a savings. A trade would result in a plus savings of 5.9 million. I don't know if anyone would be willing to trade for him and take on that contract. It sounds like Miami would do better to keep him around for another year. For those thinking the Rams can acquire him I'm just not seeing it. Too many negatives.

Agreed that it's possible a trade may not happen. The difference is that Kupp and Ramsey are on two different levels as far as performance. Both are declining, but Kupp, with his age and injuries, has declined far more.

Yes, Ramsey was what, the 11th ranked CB in the NFL last year? I think that is pretty good.

The big difference is Kupp hasn't been able to stay healthy and Ramsey mostly has. If Kupp is healthy this year he will be pretty damn good.

It would have been nice to get him back, but we are going to be alright as we are...

At some point, Miami will release him........or take waaaay less than the market.
Yeah ....... I'm thinking that eventually Miami will settle for a conditional 6th rounder from us for him.
The conditional part is that he's on the field when the Rams win the Super Bowl this season.

I think you have more faith in Kupp's future production than I do. I feel he's in steep decline, not only due to injuries.

Last year, he had 710 yards in 12 games. Averaged over an entire season, he would barely scratch 1000 yards. Tutu averaged more per game in games that he started than Kupp did. I could be wrong but I feel his 'pretty damn good' days are in the rear view mirror.

Sometimes injuries linger. Even though he was playing I dont think he was plsying at 100%. So, like I said, if he stays healthy. Which he hasnt been able to do since 21

What would a Kupp/Ramsey trade looked like?

Quite frankly, I believe that this team can win without Ramsey. But, if added, I look towards his upside in run defense over his coverage skills.

Anyway, I wonder if there is some middle ground that can be found whereas the Dolphins take either Darious Williams or Colby Parkinson (with their contracts) in the deal.

I'm not a fan of speculative injuries. There's no way we can prove he wasn't 100%.

Besides, it probably doesn't matter. The body tends to breakdown over time. If, as you say he hasn't been fully healthy in 4 years now, the chances that he suddenly will become fully healthy at his age can't be high.

Dude your pretty good at evaluating talent.I don’t get the concern from this DB group. It’s hard enough keeping up with this UDRFA group from last season.
-Oldschool wants to think The Rams don’t run there organization with lower cost players with upside that they can develop.

Pick your guys from last seasons crop. They didn’t bring in a CB this offseason because there loaded & weren’t afraid to count on them during the season.
#2 this year was a STUD!! Game savior.
#21 Charles Woods cb,more a practice squad guy.PS guy 2025

#27 AJ Green has experience, but will probably get cut.

#30 Josh Wallace imo is better than D.Long was coming out of Michigan. He has 2 teammates from that national championship now.

#33 Cam Lampkins -he’ll be a PS guy.

#38 Shaun Jolley - he just keeps working on his skill & continues to get better. He looks bigger & stronger for what’s that’s worth.

That’s just the depth & bodies The Rams are developing. They continue to just work well as a group.IMO - Aubrey Pleasant doesn’t want to disturb this group. There are going to be great depth for special teams.

The ILBer room has a few good players that could be better for Kick Offs with the New Rule. You’ll see more Kick Returns in 2025 for sure.

My question is who is #6 on The Rams roster on defense.Did Stoops change numbers ?? Sort of WEAK on The Reporters at OTA’s !!

As for The Rams Starters ??

You’ve got to be kidding when there is SO much Doubt !! The Rams IMO know what they have & Sean Mcvay Trusts this Group !!

I know Shula said everything I wanted to hear & basically saying what I’ve been saying this whole time & how Sean Mcvay took Ahkello for granted. He basically said it’s nice to have him back & he’s been excellent in the locker room since he came back halfway through 2024.Shula wasn’t the DB when SPOON was wearing #23 in training camp in 23(2023).His only Rams training camp when Jalen was traded. He wore #44 that season & Kyren who has always been #23 real Emerged as The Rams starting RB against the Hags. Cam Akers once again went M.I.A.

Point being The Rams made a playoff run last season & The Unit really played well.Learned from each other. The Cards game in week 16 proved how much Ahkello means to The Rams.He read (called the switch) that last play & picked it off for a game winning INT !!

For All THE HATERS!! And Fantasy Players looking for a TE.Which in 2025 will have many of them. The Rams hope & may have a guy who can be sort of close to this guy..

Trey McBride- who is a stud & just makes plays. Was The Cards leading receiver with 111 catches & 1,150(46) yards.

If WE go back to the 2nd games of the season will see Harrison’s first 2 TD’s. At least one of them was on T.White. The Player missing & Why the F!!! Wasn’t he resigned in the beginning of 2024 ??

Shula says what a pleasure it is to have SPOON at OTA’s & he is so efficient in details. There’s more to what it is as well .

BTW - go look at The Rams Playoff game & wonder why there were SO many Sacks !!! Jefferson

Justin Jefferson 5 of 8 targets. 58 yards & NO TD’s !!

AJ Brown 2 of 7 targets 14 yards long of 10yrds NO TD’s !!

—Freaking PISSES ME OFF - Mcvay(Shula) knows what he means to The Rams Playoff game!!
His contract is all about The Rams making The PLAYOFFS & WINNING The SUPERBOWL!!!

For all You HATERS that don’t respect RAM PLAYERS & what they have done, especially SPOON as a Great example!!

YOU CAN (thank him & appreciate him for what he does as a RAM)

To think Jalen Ramsey is going to come in to training camp & disrupt what The Rams are building are OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MINDS !!

This is just 1 Rams Starting CB’s as well. A quiet LEADER who LOVES THE RAMS who would want to beat the 9ers as bad as anyone on there roster.
In 2023 against the Lions ,St Brown got the best of him.He was weak on punching the ball out & covering a smaller wr.He knows his skills set & SO does Shula. Mcvay & The Rams needed to score & not put it on AD99 & Spoon.
