Yeah. Having too much money tied up in a few players does seem to cap a team's potential. As long as the players are stars and they stay healthy, it at least gives you a nice floor to build from. I' still feel it's a nice predicament compared to what we all went through for over a decade.

Getting production from those picks from rounds 2 on down helps balance the books so to speak. Rams have done pretty well in those rounds, that will need to continue and expect it will.

ugh, never a big fan of market setting contracts. Outside of a Aaron Donald or franchise QB big contracts are never a good thing. Biggest fear is we are getting very top heavy with our roster, ultimately this will effect our depth.
Ramsey and Donald are at the top of their positions, but no one else should get market setting contracts (hopefully). I don't expect Kupp to be pushing $20M unless they sign him after the season and he goes off this year.

I have no issues with paying one of the top CB's in the NFL. Ramsey can start @ any of the DB posts with no drop off in his on-field performance. I believe he is one of the best DB's that has entered the NFL in well over a decade.

If you want to win in the NFL having a great corner cadre is a top priority on defense like a top OL is on offense:oops:. Ramsey is the perfect fit & type of DB for Staley new defense. OC's will have no idea where Ramsey is going to play or line up in this new defense. Much better to spend your cap $$$ on outside corners than safeties & LB'ers.

Snead just keeping drafting DB's like JJ III, Taylor Rapp, David Long, Jordan Fuller, Nick Scott, Terrell Burgess every draft to work in to compliment Ramsey.

Well done Snead/McVay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:horns::cheers2::admin:

I'm glad we resigned him. But damn, that's a lot of money. With him and Donald...we will lose Kupp or Woods next year. They are really hoping that Jefferson pans out i guess. No way we keep Johnson either. Guess they have the same hope for burgess.

Who is responsible for coming up with the contracts and signing players? is it Les or Kevin?

I agree but he will be at least around 12M to 15M per. Not to mention, Johnson, Woods, Everett to name a few.

I can breathe a little better I thought it would be 19.5-20.5 but had to be done we were over a barrel with giving up the 2 picks.

We need to see how it's broken down Kill not out of the question yet. However as much as I love the dude JJ looks very much in doubt. I think with the safeties we drafter rapp here JJ is gone and we take the comp pick. I think Kupp will be resigned. Everett I don't get Hopkins here but if teams are all over him I hope they trade and get something rather that let him walk and get a comp pick.

Great news.
Hopefully get to sign Kupp.
I agree that we might lose JJ. We have a lot of talent at certain positions.

We're likely expecting Johnson, Everett, Ebukam, and Floyd to move on. Woods is a trade chip this offseason, like I've been talking about in my draft threads.

Thats fair, I just think losing all those guys and trying to trade Woods is not a good idea. We dont have good depth at LB to begin with.
Im fairly comfortable with our starting units, but if a few injuries happen then I get a little nervous. Trying to fill needs every year via the draft is a tough task and risky. We have done well with the draft considering we haven't had a 1st rounder in years.

We've got a lot of depth at receiver, and it's another amazing draft class at receiver next year, so I'm fine with trading Woods. The main problem is inside linebacker and offensive line; I could see us losing up to three starting offensive linemen (if they cut Havenstein, if Whit retires after this year, and if Blythe asks for more money than we can pay).

Now, I can see us internally replacing the tackle positions with Evans and Edwards (with Noteboom potentially sliding to a tackle spot), we could have depth with Brewer potentially coming back next year, along with Anchrum, Allen, and Shelton...but I won't count on it until we show out this season. Fortunately, there should be quite a few good young centers coming out of the class.

As for inside linebacker, I regard it as the weakest position right now, even with the recent signing of Hollins. We're likely losing Kiser and Howard next year (I'm not totally sure about Young's contract status, and while I think that Howard is a RFA this year, I could be wrong about him as well). I do not trust Reeder at all. That's why I want someone like Nick Bolton out of Mizzou or Charles Snowden out of Virginia.

Sorry, forgot about Reynolds in my first post. I think he leaves for a better opportunity as well.

Damn, that is record setting for sure. Was expecting $20 mil a year so a little more than I wanted but not going to complain as he will be a game changer in this defense. Just got to pray to the football gods he stays on the field the whole time.
