So the hold-up has been waiting until after we play each other before the trade is made ? LOL... I just made that up.

Come on. Their drugged out owner isn't gonna trade him... or any of his rock-and-roll memorabilia to anyone. Now I do believe he (referring to the dolts' pill popping owner) actually said something along those lines.

After TG30... I don't see our current football decision makers going after an "older" RB who is looking to get paid top dollar.

If we could steal him from Indy like we stole Mr Faulk from Indy then pull the trigger.
I’d say based on recent compensation we’re going over pay as usual. We usually get subpar compensation in return for players we trade away in my eyes.

This.

Gurley signed a 4 year, $57.5 mil contract with $45 mil guaranteed at the age of 24. Jonathan Taylor is currently 24 and looking for $14-17 million annually and who knows how much guaranteed. He's also coming off of his worst season ever and two ankle injuries in 2022.

Mcvay and Snead won the SB with Sony Michel and Cam Akers at RB. I don't think they're interested in repeating the same mistake. Altho, they did try like all hell to trade for CMC last year so who knows.

Not sure I'd want to give up premium picks and a lot of money for any running back. Plenty of good teams do not have a premier running back. We had no run game when we won a championship. Its not like the old days when the running game was the most important part of an offense.

You have to believe that they will also explore the possibility. Taylor changes the threat level of this offense by a lot. People forget he can also catch. Now look at the Ram offense with Stafford, Taylor, Kupp, Nacua, Atwell and Higbee. What does the defense key on? Right now no one fears the Ram's run game. Stafford would face a whole bunch of zone coverage. That would make the Ram offense a legit Super Bowl caliber unit.

You have to know Snead will at least inquire if he hasn't already. The fact they quit running against the Bengals speaks volumes about their lack of faith in their run game.

Honestly, the one thing McVay is missing in his offense is splash plays front the running back. When he came to the Rams and had Gurley, the Rams were a threat to score on any play. Now, without a true running back, teams have seemed to figure out the Rams offense. Stafford coming was a perfect storm of talent, and a new style of offense (more shotgun/less under center) so it worked. Now that teams have figured it out, a threat out of the backfield is key. I’m not talking five yard rushes. I’m talking you take the 3-5 yard rushes because you’ll eventually break one for 40 yards.

We don’t have that.

Btw i doubt Jonathan Taylor would require a 1st round. I could see 2 2nds tho.
Or 2 6ths and sign him to a Prove It! contract for remainder of 2023. We could always trade him away for more picks in the off season.

Spending the picks to trade for him that indy wants is a mistake in my book. Signing him for the money he want imo is a mistake.

That said I'll root for him but I think getting a LT or pass rusher is a vastly bigger upgrade in my opinion.

If there's any truth to this, ... it's a sign of Rams front office desperation imo.

Taylor would change this offense in a big way.

But, I wouldn't be including a 1st rounder in any offer.

Jake BoogerEllen is one of the worst people someone cites for anything Rams and is as full of shit as Foolio. (And that’s actually tough to do)

Agreed, first Taylor needs and wants to be paid, plus you have to give up draft capital and Taylor has so many miles on those tires so although he's 24, he is really 28 in RB years. McVay needs to adapt and use what he has and save the draft capital for a RB in the 2024 draft.

The Rams are in a position to make the move, as long as it's not a first rounder, imo.

And, yes, he'd be a difference maker.

225 and a 4.39 40. A true home run threat who knows how to run... in an offense where he will have an actual QB.

Yes, it's against the Rams "model".. and sometimes you can break that model.

With a draft class like this one, plus two emerging classes the previous years, you're in a position to make it happen.

I say, we just tell Taylor to get on the plane and come home with us.

In a heartbeat, (don't think they'd take it) - and I love me some Higbee! Even add a fourth.

And while I'm setting conditions: 5 year $50M, $35 guaranteed.

Just seems like in the Rams' history, whenever we were REALLY REALLY good, we had a great RB.

And even sometimes when we were not so great.

No validity to this trade at all. I personally don't want an older RB that wants to get paid. Not interested in spending the money needed to make those kind of players happy.

I can’t believe anyone who’s a Ram fan would be ok sending a 2nd round pick for him…let alone two 2nds. A RB who was injured and wants a big money contract. I’d rather keep that 2nd and get another Avila next year. Heck, a drafted RB in the 2nd next year might be better than Taylor.

Not to mention the salary. I’d rather save that money to secure a top notch young FA pass rusher in the off-season.

I’ve yet to see a need for a top RB with McVay anyway. Quite the opposite actually.

Would be a weird fit. Especially with this OL.
