So I’m not hearing much from the media pointing out the Rams won the Super Bowl despite:
1) RB1 Akers was at best 70%.
2) TE1 Higbee out.
3) WR2 Woods out.
4) WR1B (at least in the SB) OBJ out for the second half.
5) Referees not calling ANY penalties until the last 8 minutes. Some changes need to come from some of those misses.
Imagine if none of these happened.

Its going to be fun playing that AFC West, at the same time that is going to make Home Field Advantage hard for anyone in the NFC West.

The damn Packers could accumulate a better record at the end. Their schedule is a lot easier.

Then again maybe the NFC west falls apart with the drama around Lance and Murray.

Packers
Home (9): Vikings, Bears, Lions, Cowboys, Giants, Rams, Patriots, Jets, Titans
Road (8): Vikings, Bears, Lions, Eagles, Commodes, Buccaneers, Bills, Dolphins

Rams
Home (9): Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, Falcons, Panthers, Cowboys, Bills, Broncos, and Raiders.
Road(8): Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Buccaneers, Chiefs, and Chargers.

Your also talking NFC East vs the South? Then you have to add how it all sets up.

The Packers on the road again sucks. I guess the hope is the earlier the better against them ?

What Bobby Wagner is going to mean to The Rams in the middle.I think having him as the Green Dot is going to make things easier for the DB’s & upfront.
The Rams still need a couple of pieces.I’m not going to add Robert Woods missing as a Big Factor.I do think The Rams young depth is going to make a big difference.Tutu Atwell is such a wild card.

This young OLB/DE from last season to me has flashed Greatness?? I’m just saying at a Lower Level. To see that gets me excited & have to mention it in case he shows only half of that at The NFL level. The Covid thing & not getting Vaxid hurt his rookie season. He is another wild card.

Add Ben Sko & Hopkins flashing in the SuperBowl gets me excited as well, because of where they are in there careers. When scouting ascending players is what your looking for. The talent coming together. To say I’m feeding BS? That’s cool.I’m just saying there are signs

What has only happened only three times in the NFL in the last 30 years, and only one time in the last 17 years?

Repeat champions.

So, why should we expect our Rams to repeat this year? The odds are clearly against it, particularly in this age of free agency/player movement/salary cap restrictions.

I can give you some logical arguments:

The Rams are returning most of their key players from last year's championship run.

They're also getting some key guys back and have signed two top-notch free agents.

It can also be argued that the migration of talent from the NFC to the AFC and turmoil within the other NFC West organizations could lead to a smoother path to the big game this year.

In the end, though, pretty much every reigning champ and its fans feel this way and, yet, repeat champions are few and far between.

You know what my response to all that is?

I DON'T CARE!!!!

Its time for Rams fans to be presumptuous and, maybe, a bit arrogant. I feel like we're on the mountaintop, and we're going to stay there until someone knocks us off! And, you know what, I can see this team being even better this year if our key guys stay healthy, our new guys pan out, and we again add a bit more talent along the way.

I have no doubt that this team CAN repeat so, right now... I'm expecting it!

RUN IT BACK... all the way to Glendale in February 2023 and another confetti celebration!
Are Horns fans always presumptuous and arrogant?

The Superbowl odds we had in preseason 2021 were 14-1. So, 17-1 doesn’t sound so bad.

This team feels different. They don’t feel done to me. We need good fortune with injuries, like everybody else, but the 2022 Rams will be very good.

Yeah, if we sign OBJ and Matthieu, have the OL solidify and get some contributions from guys like Jacob Harris and Rochelle along with a solid draft…

We’re already tough to beat, but I think we’re gonna be extremely tough come playoff time.

The gauntlet through the AFC West Will he tough and we have a very rough schedule, but I think we can and will do it.

Signing Tyrann would be a mistake. It's why he's unsigned. He's another Marcus Peters, a me guy who will go rogue to try for a splash play. A bad fit for this locker room and culture. I'm believing what I'm hearing about him during his time in KC and even AZ.

Scott is on his way to being a much better safety. I think this will be his breakout year. I've liked him since he was a rookie and knew he simply needed time to develop. He's a safety with the true skills to play both CB and FS with 4.43 speed. His emergence has allowed Rapp to be played as the in the box SS that he is with Fuller patrolling the midrange middle. It will allow Morris to play 3 downs with two ILBs and mix and match his front 4 with Floyd, AD, Gaines, Robinson, Lewis, and Hollins. He has his 5th rusher in Wagner and Jones. If Rochell is ready to have a breakout season this defense will be scary good. Morris has learned how to let his dogs off the chains. I don't think we will see that overly cautious play not to lose style anymore.

Offensively, this offense will be equally scary with Kupp, OBJ, Robinson, Jefferson, Harris at WR, Ackers, Michel, Henderson, Funk at RB, Higbee, Blanton, and Hopkins. The OL will be equally good with Noteboom, Shelton, Allen, Havenstein, and the RG TBD. But even if they play Evans at LG, Shelton is at least on par with Corbett. IMO Shelton is better on the second level which is why they favored continuing to develop Shelton overpaying Corbett who has peaked.

This OL could be better. People discounted my support for the OL last year but they played well overall finishing with a top 10 ranking by most evaluators. But I think they got a bad rap in the run game as I saw the execution on most just very poor play design. Trying to run a style without the personnel, i.e. power with no lead block. McVay tried to force the ILBs out of the A gaps by his WR alignments. But DCs began to see if they simply kept their MIKE over the A gaps the Rams couldn't run. The yards they did get between the tackles were because of Akers and Michel breaking or carrying tackles. For the most part, it wasn't the OL but the media and the public generally saw it that way.

If the Rams trade for Hunter like I'm hearing they might if they can strike a deal with the Vikes, this team will without question be better because they will have all the pieces from day one.

But me personally, I'm not going to be what I dislike, an arrogant fan blind to reality. This team has been a championship roster for a year and I have personally said so that whole time and longer in fact. That said I haven't been blind to where they need to improve. Secondary depth and OL depth are a concern right now. But it's a long way from September and a lot can happen and I think it will. Teams will discard players looking for starters who would have value as depth for the Rams, I feel that is very likely. Last year people harped upon the lack of depth as a perceived problem on the Rams. Yet despite a rash of injuries this team prevailed because the depth was there. I point to an apparent lack of depth but I know they have Burgess, Hall, and Deayon but I expect them to add players there.

I've been saying it for a long time. This team is built and now it's only going to be better this year.

Oldnotdead - I’m very hopeful of the following (or something similar):

“ If the Rams trade for Hunter like I'm hearing they might if they can strike a deal with the Vikes, this team will without question be better because they will have all the pieces from day one”.

What is being stated recently regarding Hunter to the Rams? Again - I’m not challenging your statement just very interested in any current information regarding it. Thanks also for your in depth posts. They are thought provoking.

I'm talking to people who would have reason to know. From what I'm told the Vikings have just under $11M in cap. The problem is they want to make moves and they have 8 draft picks. I was told and it certainly seems feasible considering how Snead works, that he has spoken to the Vikes about Hunter pretty much asking them what it would take.

The Vikings don't think they can pay Hunter next year when they will have to extend him. So they would rather move him now. He may have a no-trade clause so that might restrict their options next year. O'Connell knows the Rams roster and I was told he asked for a player and two picks. I wasn't told what picks but I think it could be 104 this year and their second next year. The player might be Lewis or Hollins. But I think it would be a WR probably Jefferson. They signed Za'Darius Smith formerly of GB so Hunter is redundant with a large cap hit this year. That is the reason they want to move Hunter.

If it is Jefferson, then it really hinges on when OBJ can be ready to play. Otherwise, they will be Kupp and Robinson and Harris in the slot. Harris has the speed to threaten deep which was Jefferson's primary role. I would still do it because once OBJ is healthy Jefferson will go back to being a part-time player at #4.

Some of the moving parts for the Rams are how the Vikings draft, OBJ's timeline, and how much cap they can clear. IMO if Snead can pull this off it would make this offseason outstanding. The Ram 4 man rush will be absolutely awesome. It would be a huge splash.

I like to dream big, too, but let’s start out on the right foot, first.
According the schedule makers, the bills are gonna be a big deal in their prime games this season. They’re gonna be one of the featured games opening week.

Looks more and more like it could be bills vs Rams opening night. If that ends up being the case, it would be a good idea to thrash those upstarts and make a statement—“you’re not ready for us.”

In general, the seasons getting longer only makes a repeat that much more difficult.
Fine with me. Bring it on.

Love that the Rams are firmly in the mix. The cool thing is no matter what happens this year McSnead will have a Plan B/PlanC ready to execute. These guys love overcoming challenges and opportunities in building the perfect beast.
