The Vet QB's out there don't thrill me. I know the Rams say they want a vet, but Jimmy G is probably the only one with anything still unsigned. I would guess we have a wink wink deal with him that will commence after the draft, provided we don't go crazy and take Simpson.

I agree. Let me not be musunderstood here i DONT WANT Russell Wilson for QB2, I WANT, Jimmy Garoppolo.

Again, who's the free next best vet out there?
There are no other good options out there right now.

After Garoppolo, the best of a weak group might be Cooper Rush ... in my opinion.

Sometimes players shake loose; and there may be trade options ... but Garoppolo seems like the best option.

Rogers won't take a backup position. So we can cross him off the list. Garoppolo would be my first choice. Second choice would be Cooper Rush. I think he could manage the game well enough to win.

You guys need to really check out Cooper Rush's 2025 season with the Ravens. I know Russell is bad but Rush is far worse. You can't just say a name because it sounds cool.

Did you bother to look at his stats and record as a starter in 2022 and 2024?

Many of us are focused on a veteran back-up that could fill-in for an injured Stafford, for 2-6 games; and Help the Rams win half those games (or slightly better) ... so that a playoff season is Not lost ... and the Rams might still be able to contend for a Lombardi when Stafford returned.

Garoppolo would be preferable but Rush might work.

And Russ cant do what Rush can?

If it wasn't for that really bad sack rate, Tyrod Taylor would probably look better.
Maybe coaching and scheme can do something for him this late in his career?
His career int%/rate is decently low, better than Stafford with the Rams, and better than Garoppolo's career int%/rate.

McVay wants chunk plays, TT can get chunk plays:

People want McVay to get a mobile QB. TT is a mobile QB

Sure, he's old, but he's still got some arm and mobility:

So, you’re just going to completely pass on my comment about Cooper Rush, responding to your comment about Cooper Rush.

OK.

Wilson would be an interesting but, in my opinion, far from desirable option for a Day-1 back-up role.

There are several reasons for that, which I think are obvious.

Don’t have much time right now to discuss in any detail but the following are a couple of Very Brief Thoughts.

Wilson has never entered a season as a back-up.
But for his first couple years, on his rookie contract, has never been paid under $10M.
Has a big personality that, sometimes, rubs the wrong way, so I’m not sure he would fit the Rams’ locker room.
His style of play … one or two reads, start to move, throw it deep down field or take unnecessary sacks just doesn’t seem like a fit for McVay’s offense, in my opinion.

But hey, who knows?

Rush was just SO bad last year, huge red flag. Frankly I don't want either of these guys. Jimmy HAS TO come back.

In 13 starts in 2022 and 2024, Dallas went 8-5 with Cooper Rush filling-in for Prescott.
The Cowboys were a good team, with good offensive talent and an offensive-minded head coach.

In 2025, Baltimore went 0-2, with Rush filling-in for Jackson.
Both losses were in October. One against Houston ... one of the best defensive teams in the NFL in 2025; and the other was to our Rams, at a point in the season when the Rams' defense was playing very well.

In my opinion, that makes Dallas and the 2022, 2024 seasons (where Rush attempted 470 passes) a far better comparable to 2025 (where Rush attempted a mere 52 passes).

You can quickly look all this stuff up on Pro Football Reference if you choose.

As to the preference of Garoppolo over the options currently out there, I think most of us agree.

Yeah, the Ravens thought so much of him they released him to bring back Tyler Huntley. Haven't seen Dallas banging down his door to get him back either.

Huntley signed with Cleveland as a free agent to compete for the starting role. After he failed to win it, Huntley was released and signed to Baltimore's Practice Squad behind Rush. He was added to the active roster during the season.

All those facts being stated, like most ... I would place Huntley ahead of Rush.

Dallas currently has Sam Howell and Joe Milton behind Prescott ... both would also be preferable to Rush IMO

Again, the discussion is about who are currently available.

This is the 2nd time this morning you have responded to my comments by ignoring my comments and making a different (but topically-related) point.

That is Telling ... but ... I will leave you to figure that out.

What's to "figure out?"

2 scrub Quarterbacks neither of us want. We're both DESPERATELY hoping Jimmy G signs to avoid this catastrophe. I said I'd take Russell, you said you'd take Cooper. I don't think it's that deep to get into, either one of us could be right we just see it a little differently. Not a big deal and I'm sorry if I offended you, A2M.

Wilson, hell no.
Jimmy G is fine, but, his biggest weakness fits right into what a D would do when a back up comes in....attack with blitzes and pressure.
Id just as much like a vet backup with some mobility.
Tyrod Taylor is out there is a viable option to me.
Throws a nice ball and can escape pressure and make plays with his legs.
The biggest issues with Taylor is has no ability to stay healthy.
Not a lot out there as a vet QB however.
I would imagine a team looking for anything but a stop gap starter (see Cousins in Vegas) would trade for someone like Mac Jones as opposed to sign a vet like Jimmy G, but, who knows?
I think this might go into training camp before a vet backup is signed.

Not offended.

I just feel like we are on different wave-lengths. You are like a Mini So Ram.
And, I don't think I ever posted that I would "take Cooper Rush" ... just that I thought there was very little out there after Garoppolo ... and ... Rush might be the best fit of an undesirable group.

To be CLEAR ... I don't want Cooper Rush ...
