The source states that quarterback Kirk Cousins may be interested in playing for the Rams, and if there's an expectation that he'll be Stafford's successor, the source believes Cousins is willing to play on the league minimum just to be in the building.

Successor? Aren't they about the same age?

No one's exactly beating down his door. His only opportunities are going to be on shit teams probably so if his choice is a 3-14 team that's going to bench him anyway or be the backup for a Super Bowl favorite with the coach who made you into what you were while making millions I'd say the choice would be easy. If we're interested at least.

I would take Kirk Cousins over Jimmy G.

If Cousins were willing to come to the Rams on a similar deal to Jimmy G, I'd take Cousins. Jimmy G would be a big step down from Stafford, but I think Cousins can keep the machine rolling and keep the Rams Super Bowl dreams alive if Stafford goes down (knock on wood) for a short stint.

He is tight with McVay so the longer he goes without a job I suppose the more it's a good bet for "insider" types to act like they know a deal is in work.

He wants to get a ring as a backup? Seems like a weird want
I don't know.

I saw an article that stated Cousins' career NFL earnings trailed only Stafford, Rodgers and Brady.
The guy will be 38, and has played 14 seasons, with just one post-season victory.

Maybe a back-up role, on a high-profile team in a big city, playing for a coach that was around when he was a rookie and was his Offensive Coordinator when he became a starting-QB ... contending for a Lombardi ... THAT may all sound pretty good.

I also think Brock Vierra (the SI author) is a useless Fucking Boob, who just throws shit against-the-wall.

Think it's a sports guy speculating and we always see those guys change from speculating to saying it'll happen when they create their titles.

Hell naw. If he was okay with being the backup only, sure, but not with all of these stipulations. Beggers can't be choosers. If you're only offered back up roles now, shut up and accept it.
