I truly think he could be. Again, he doesn't have to be transcendent...just make good decisions and keep the turnovers to a minimum.

It appears to me he has the player's respect, and has a great command of the huddle. He's clearly not the issue on offense.

I think he can play a lot better than the last two weeks but I'm not 100% sure yet either. I'm not sure I like how much he floats the ball and seems to wait to long to pass sometimes.

I wasn't a fan of extending a guy who hasn't play one single game for us.

Time will tell I guess. He's still better than anything we had last year.

Nick Foles, he's just this guy...

At some point people are going to have to realize that an offense runs with 11 people and stop placing the blame on the quarterback.

he was in week 1. lets hope he remembers that ;)

but if the coaching staff and files can't give us a winning season this year, then I say adios amigos, time for change

Foles played well enough to win, if not for the drops and dumb penalties. I don't think he will ever be Brady or Manning, but he could win games. Fix the rest and then worry about Foles.

The 11 positions aren't equal in level of importance and it's not close - at all.

Name a good NFL offense that doesn't have a good QB.

Or ....

Name a bad NFL offense with a good QB.

It's not that easy. But Ill bet it's a lot easier with every other position.

Nick Foles is..... okay. No more, no less.

For all his faults, he at least has the balls to push the ball down field. I don't think fans should hastily overlook that quality. Far too many mediocre QBs are conservative to a fault (Bradford, Smith). You can definitely win with a QB of Foles' calibre if the rest of your team is up to standard. We now have the defense to do it. Now we need more play-makers on offense and, more importantly, a competent offensive line. Until we get an o-line that can open up holes for the running game we are going nowhere fast.

My fear is that when (if.....) our offensive line finally develops, our defensive players will all need new contracts, and so we'll remain stuck in mediocrity.

Unlike most, I actually like the idea of being a "run first" team and don't think the game has passed Fisher by. Winning on the back of a strong defence and running game, with an unspectacular QB and offensive roster, is definitely viable today IMO. See: Seattle. I think it's definitely better than taking the more popular approach of crossing your fingers for years on end while praying you snag a world beater QB like Brady or Manning. Those guys rarely come along. How many highly drafted QB prospects actually become an Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees?! And then you have to suffer through several crappy seasons to even have the "privilege" of rolling the dice by drafting them. I'd rather build up the rest of the roster. The problem with Fisher is he cannot evaluate offensive talent to save his life.

So I ask. Is he the guy?
Maybe....but he's got to be given time to really run Cig's offense....

For the most part, the offense moved the ball quite well, but had their drives stalled due to drops on well placed passes.
I didn't see this....Seemed to stop and go...nothing continuous...And really showed with the lack of 3rd down conversions....Which is really troubling.

His line and playmakers just suck.

yesterday was Bradfordesque. Victim of drops, untimely penalties and poor oline blocking

Admittedly early, the O-Line is playing like crap,

Ram with a bad OL and no running game. When Foles has been given time, he makes some big throws
I thought he had plenty of time...not 10 seconds...but plenty of time....I still wonder what is going on with some of the wrs? Is he able to locate them..look through his progressions?

Our O-line, WRs, and TEs certainly don't help, either.
I included all these comments and wanted to address them....Our line pass blocked WELL yesterday....don't include the running game...not the penalties...Just pass blocking and TO ME, they did well...Much better than against the Seahawks....That passing offense didn't succeed for other reasons...drops, unable to locate receivers, unable to separate from defenders....unable to tell. And that's why IDK about Foles....Because even if he begins to become more comfortable in the pocket, that doesn't always equate to more passing accuracy...Doesn't mean he won't continue to get happy feet or use poor footwork. We can't tell...
And I also agree, he was extended way too soon....

I'm not sure I like how much he floats the ball and seems to wait to long to pass sometimes.
It's a curse as well as a beautiful asset....I love the high deep ball, but I'd like him to bring a bunch of his throws down...Like that last one to Britt coulda been a little lowers, & his INT to Kendricks coulda been put more on a line too...just hung too long.
The waiting makes it look like he doesn't know where to really go with the ball...The game is different when bullets are flying...

The Rams offense has sucked for years. The line and receivers are among the worst units in the league and the coaches just haven't been able to get the job done. IMO the coaching seems to be more of a problem than the QBs.

I think that without a NFL level OL who can control the LOS it doesn't matter. A QB under constant pressure throwing to WRs who struggle to get separation will never be the answer. I'm not as sure that a spread offense works in the NFL. Pro level corners are nothin like the CBs most spread guys will ever see. But it may be the answer if the NFL level QB continues to become scarcer.

I expect him to be on the Eli, Ryan, & Flacco tier of QBs: they don't have to elevate the playmakers' ceiling but you know they'll make the most out of a favorable situation. Just look at the three QBs when they're on the downside, they have moments where they just look flat out underwhelming when the supporting cast is bad. Foles will be on these guy's level once the offense clicks together through midseason.

Hopefully it won't be too late to sneak past .500

Is there going to be any pron in this thread? If not then I am going to stop reading it.

I am not exactly what is meant by "The Guy" but we certainly have to establish continuity, growth, execution and better performances from the players around him as well as the coaches.
We have no running game and T.E's that are inconsistent as well as what in my opinion is a under performing group of wideouts. Whether the inconsistency in the passing game is player, coaching execution or all 3 I am not going to speculate. Yes Foles can absolutely improve.

This is where I am at.

Anyone paying attention to the golden boy, Andrew Luck? Dude has thrown some bad looking INT's to open the season. Guess what? QB is an insanely hard position.

Nick might not be top 5 material, but he's good enough to win with as his track record in Philly demonstrates.

We need to get the man a run game.

IMO with Luck there are two issues at play, two converging drivers if you will.

First, he has played some very, very good defenses so far this year (and in his playoff games). He's not used to it so to speak. He has to get better there and I think he will.

Second. That boy needs to lose the "I can get the ball in there" mindset. It NEVER serves a QB well. I have seen many QB's with really strong arms make throws where they clearly thought they could fire it in and it gets knocked down or picked off.

He's going to have to make some changes when he plays top defenses and take fewer chances right.......

That said I'd trade Foles and Quinn and Donald for him straight up.

You had me until the last sentence. :sneaky:

I guess Fisher said on the Foles INT, someone ran the route wrong. I think it's just a combo of a new offense, no great WR's, bad TE play, and soewhat decent pass pro

I still would rather have Foles than Bradford. Number #1 reason is the toughness. A more respected QB than Bradford. Better getting rid of the ball when in trouble. Better pocket awareness. The Pittsburgh game was a win in my opinion, with out the penalties and dropped passes.
