Just when teams thought they could breathe a sigh of relief with the retirement of AD, we get Verse and Fiske who are already balling out as rookies. I can’t overstate how much I love this, and Rams opponents probably can’t overstate how much they hate it.
Yeah it's amazing. To hit on Verse in the year AD retired is impressive shit. And with Turner and Fiske on the interior this DL is going to get better and better.

If it was me I'd be on the lookout for a legit nose to put between those boys. Or a 5T. Either works, since Turner is flexible. But I think one more stud up front would make this DL unstoppable next season.

I am tired of seeing Verse's stats compared to rookies. I want to see him compared to every edge

In one of the X posts above, he's compared with guy like Myles Garrett and Nick Bosa - and has a better PRWR than everyone on the list.

I am pretty shocked he is this effective. It was clear in college his physical strength was his best attribute which undercut a lot of his game, not strictly his bull rush. I was not sure how it would translate to the NFL level. I did think he would be good, but not great, as a result. To my surprise, he seems able to absolutely bully pretty much every NFL offensive lineman he comes across. The dude is a monster! Good thing he is on our side. Curious how his career develops. His type of game seems higher risk to fall off faster when age starts to hit, or injuries pile up, but we're several years away from that yet - knock on wood re: the injury part.

Obviously nobody (except maybe V8) saw him being this dominant early on, but I did feel he’d be the best of the bunch. His get off is so much faster than most. That (IMO) is why his bull rush is so effective. He’s there so quickly that the OL isn’t ready. Then he throws in a change up. He’s a fucking stud.

Verse is the real deal.
So is Fiske. Kinchens is having as good a season as any Rams rookie DB I can think of. Limmer has been getting it done at a high level as well.
And I don't believe there's any reason to forget about Blake Corum either.
Toss in Byron Young, Kobe Turner and last years draft haul and I believe the Rams have aquired more legit talent in the past 2 drafts alone than they did in any 5 drafts between 2005-2015

He needs to add 'containment' to his vocabulary. Aside from that, I wouldn't add or change a damn thing with that boy...

Verse was TERRIBLE last night, but otherwise has had an amazing rookie year.

He was playing the Eagles OL and they regularly make other stud vets look bad. V8 is a rookie still getting by on his freaky athletcism and power. They had his head spinning and his body gassed... These are the kind of lessons that are usually only learned the hard way and if he is who we think he is, he will be better because of this game.

No doubt. Not only is Verse a physical freak, he is seemingly quite smart also. He'll watch that tape and there is many a lesson to learn on contain.

It is a good lesson for him and the rest of these guys. Good lesson for McVay too.

Criticism for him I'd have is he removed himself a bit too much from his contain responsibilities. I realize it has to feel good to push the OT back or put him on his ass, but there were times that all-out rush cost him the edge and he would have been better served to control the end result.

You did see him throw that tackle on his back like a bowling pin right ?

Did you see all the other posts about containment?

That play looked good but it allowed hurts to escape the pocket and run for a 1st down. Not what was needed at the time. Not the way to play hurts, who is a much better rb than qb.

In a way it’s such basic football. Your NEVER suppose to loss containment.

And? One play and it resulted in a first down. Smfh. He had a terrible game. Gave up contain all night long. It's not a crime.
The point is, few NFL linebackers are strong enough to do what he does on a regular basis now. Playing against Hurts is a very different thing and extremely challenging endeavor.
The Eagles regularly made the great Aaron Donald look bad. I mean, did he ever have a good game against the Eagles ? He was a non factor in most of those games. Even Donald notes they were tough on him. Took 2-3 guys to do it. Seen 4 against him one time.
Verse has the ability and the desire to be one of the best ever. He will learn from this and so will Shula.
The Rams problem is all about the O line at this moment.
Fix that, get a true big-fast deep threat and we have another SB run in this team.

Now Verse just needs to learn to defend being tackled and he will be the full package. The eagles are the only team that had success against Verse, and that's because they tackled him on most plays.

I only watch games once so I wasn’t paying attention. Not challenging your observation but any particular play or video evidence to reference

Btw Im still stewing over the declined/ accepted penalty that Greasball Siriani pulled off.
