I think the point of the draft is that everyone wins on draft day. It's a moment where all the copium comes together and each fan base for just a few brief moments believes they had the best draft, the most perfect draft for their team and the draft fell just right for them. It's moment of fantasy where everyone's a winner.
Congratulations. You just confirmed you are NOT a Jets fan. :laugh4:

So would you say the Chiefs trading a 1st and 3rd rd. picks in 2017 and their 1st rd. selection in 2018 to move up from the 27 to pick 10 to select Patrick Mahomes that they studied, visited with , and knew he would fit their system? Would you say that trade has led to any wins for the Kansas City Chiefs since 2018?

Games are won and lost in the season in FA and the Draft for years to come, just like part of the Sun Tzu proverb "In peace Prepare for War, In War prepare for peace." The job of the FO, specifically the scouting and talent departments is never ending. Is all season.

Those picks that you state "no one wins or loses until the picks pan out" are still because of work put into FA and the draft from work put in the previous season and the current off season.
All that's fine and dandy. I just don't see the point in watching the draft. You're not watching the teams strategize and make the deals. Those are all done behind closed doors and we generally don't get the real story even after the draft. So you end up watching a the likes of McShay and Mr. Douchy Big Hair blather on about who the team should take and then blather more about the player after the pick. It's like an awards show that takes all day. And I haven't watched an awards show since I was a kid.

I don't watch all that "
work put into FA and the draft from work put in the previous season and the current off season.
I read about it. I discuss it. But you can't watch it happen. That would be even more boring to watch than the draft if you were doing it in real time.

I get all the intrigue and the work that goes on before, during, and after the draft. I just can't see watching a 6 hour show that mostly consists of teams and people about whom I wouldn't give two shits.

But it doesn't matter what I think. I'll give my opinion. And in my opinion, it's a huge waste of time. I'll just sit down later and look through the draft for points of interest and go from there.

Obviously there are a lot of people that disagree with me. Otherwise, the draft wouldn't be the dog and pony show that it is today. I just choose to do something better with my time - like watching paint dry.

Yeah I can’t argue that one bit. I genuinely unplug 1-2 weeks before the draft before getting a load of some of the dumb shits you get on there.

I’ve found the NFL network coverage is far easier to watch than ESPN stupid dumb asses they get. At least for me. I also like how they are starting to mix it up, but that messes things up with Big Hair gets in there.. meh.,

Me in particular, I scour the media and stories out there of videos ( preferably), audio interviews, and articles that come out from the draft and study the strategies ( especially our FO) they tried to accomplish and what direction they were trying to go etc. love watching hearing normal conversations that aren’t mind blowing but gives you insight at what they are thinking and why.

Something that had fascinated me for more than two decades now. But that’s cool Stu. To each their own, some people can watch golf on TV which is like watching paint dry to me! Lol

Hey you still sell BBQ sauce and stuff?

I’m telling you the non sexy OT pick at 26 is the pick. Big Rob age is a major factor and we have zero OT they can play meaningful snaps for us.
I also think the first 3 picks will be all on the Offense side of the ball. Adding explosiveness is something we need. Least we forget what McVay said he wants to be more flexible in what he can do.
We need to be able to stress out the D coordinator and let Stafford eat.

Other option I wonder about is will the Rams trade down multiple times to gain a handful of picks in Rds 2-4, so we can add a bunch of good mid rd talent. With a bunch of mid rd picks in 2025 the thought process of planning to use future picks in 2026 & beyond to get the next Rams QB.
Like give up 5-1st 2-2nds etc to get A. Manning food for thought
I’d understand it, but an OT would definitely not be a sexy pick.

Years ago someone said something similar to me about actually watching NFL games and posting on Rams message boards. They said I'm not coaching or playing and don't get anything if my team wins so why am I so excited to watch and/or get uptight during games or spend so much time on message boards?

Anyway, I think you've got to be a draftnik to enjoy watching the draft. Some of us are invested in the players or colleges as fans and enjoy the anticipation of their dreams potentially coming through. For us it's kind of fun to see this happen in real-time as unexpected selections happen and/or if our own projections are close or right. All that said, I'm not sure I've watched the entire thing. I usually get sidetracked during the later rounds.

MLB baseball, Non Finals NBA Basketball or NHL Hockey? Just get me the scores at the end or the next day, if at all. Golf, tennis, bowling (if that's a sport), auto racing, and most Olympic events? Don't care. Now there is when I would rather watch paint dry.

I’ll agree about being a Draftnk. It’s a addiction to me. (edited for politics)

All joking aside is being able to see what The Rams are going to look like for 2025 is always exciting. When The Draft starts though it’s like that’s it ?

I’m sure we all will have our own opinion when it’s over.I always try to drink the Kool-aide,but there are a few players that your like WztF ?
We can all talk about what we would do,but then there’s those players we wish we could have drafted.

Last year Inhad a player I wanted Tge Rams to Draft.I actually couldn’t believe Jared Verse fell tin the Rams though. IMO I thought he could go in The Top 10.I liked Latu, but once he was drafted I wanted The Rams to Draft Jared Verse over Turner.

WOW - - Rams got lucky.

When The Rams traded up to get B. FISKE, I wanted Cooper Dejean.Funny The Eagles drafted Jalen Hurt right after Cam Akers.

I’m usually a Trade back guy like this year, but in 2020 I wanted Johnathan Taylor.

The next season L. Dickerson.Funny those 2 players make the tush push unstoppable.Taylor’s injury is why having a stable of RB’s make sense.Kyren is a FA.

The TE/Rb group is deep. There’s a couple ILber that make sense in the 2nd rd at a need.

I’d like 2 players within that group. There’s a couple players I’ve circled, but then it’s just letting The Draft come to you. There’s value
is there finding 2 starters for 3 years maybe 4 ? Plus-

Understandable. Clearly they don't make draft shows for someone like me. They'd be wasting their $$$

Not a fan of watching Leonard play QB. But I have to admit it is interesting that he was a basketball player who took the football scholarship and may explain some of that rawness. He does have upside. Probably the type of option the Rams will end up going with, as there is no way he's off the board early.

Also I love his mentality. The tape makes me cringe but he does have a penchant for making plays when he needs to and has upside.

Absolutely not. He's on my DND list at quarterback - in any round. His accuracy is untenable.

I'd rather select K.J. Jefferson in a similar range - and there's no way I do that either.
