Whaaaaa?

They must intend to use him a hell of a lot more. I feel like his production would easily be replaced at this point. But...in Snead I trust!

Key will be the new CBA... Smart to get deals done now before the salary structure changes with the new CBA... The cap will jump up folks, so cap space will be aplenty.

So that will happen when Everett, Kupp, Johnson, and Reynolds are up.

May only lose one of those guys as a result. Likely Reynolds who will want to be a #2 somewhere.
Interesting point there and I hope things go that way, with the Rams looking smart for locking guys up before the cap jumps.

Re: Reynolds the Rams will either let him go in FA (agree that is most likely) or make room for him. Trade seems unlikely now. But I could see them trading Cooks or maybe even Woody. I'd say Cooks is more likely, but if Woody wants a contract overhaul the easy decision might be to grow JRey into his spot.

All I care about at this point is that Kupp stays healthy this season. He's the piece that makes this passing game really go IMO.

The TE salaries are taking off. He's making similar money to Boyle, Uzomah, and Kroft, who aren't exactly stars.

Hooper, Henry, Ebron, Doyle, Howard, Kittle, Engram, and Njoku will all be getting new deals over the next two years as well. By that time Higbee will probably be around top 20ish, but there are going to be a lot of guys in that range.

I've always thought Higbee could be a beast, but he hasnt put it all together. Maybe this offseason he did. And I trust Demoff, he over paid Tavon, but other than that he has been pretty good about getting the core players signed before he needs to. KD is very smart and knows the cap is only going to go up every year and you dont get rewarded for not spending it.

good im glad ... i see grumblings about Higs all the time .. and sure he isnt Witten or Kelce or gronk

but dude is a beast in the run game and his blocking id above average ..lets go higs

Fisher overpaid, he was the MF in charge under The Black Widow

Go Higs!

Proof that the Rams' guys who actually evaluate talent for a living aren't basing decisions just on silly fantasy stats. Heaven forbid!

I think most people realize that getting chunk plays off of play action with plus protection is a big part of the Rams offense. It's not something you can just get guys off the street to do.

Here's one play by the Chefs where they cooked up the pa/+protect combo with All Star Travis Kelce and all his fantasy numbers in to block. Check out how he did against a very mediocre pass rusher in No Moves Ebukam.

I haven't been to a practice lately, but I can't imagine Ebukam getting that kind of push against Higs.

Validates what my thought was on this TE group all along - they're really, really good and with more opportunities (i.e. a team that doesn't have three elite WRs and an elite RB), would have much bigger numbers.

For me this isn't an overpay - this was how much he was probably going to cost. And the guaranteed money is next to nothing - and we've discussed opportunities here for the TEs, so I'd be interested to see what the non guaranteed part is because I imagine it will be really hard for him to get there.

Higs is a huge reason why our WR's get so open down the field. He's responsible for more than just an inline blocker. He creates a lot of openings in route trees because he's where he's supposed to be. Last year it was pointed out multiple times. I don't see his role changing much but the guy can flat out ball. He does his job and he's one of the best at doing it. If McVay wanted him to catch more passes he would.
Some of ya'll have short term memories.

Beside Kupp what about Littleton and JJ. Aside form Donald it seems all the contracts are going to the offense.
Littleton has a few very good young ultra low cost salaried "Mo" ILB'ers heating up his back side now. Both Travin Howard & Dakota Allen stand a very good chance to be Rams until 2022. Not so sure Cory will another big pay raise & remain the starter here if he can't stop all that running through our middle.

JJ-III stands a very good chance to be the best DB in our secondary this season. He should get a new contract this time next season since neither Safety Marqui Christian or Eric Weddle have futures here. JJ III will replace Weddle & Rapp will take JJ III post.

I would love for Eric Weddle to consider coaching in his future as a Ram. I am sure that both safety Ejiro Evero & CB's Aubrey Pleasant coaches would love to have Eric Weddle as their assistant to start.

This feels like one of those signings that "goes beyond the numbers".

McVay views him as key to the function of the offense. That's my take away from this extension.

But as others have said; he's a great blocker and he's been productive in the passing game when called upon.

Hope Higbeast will continue to improve with that contract. His blocking is great but he should improve the nuances of TE route running to warrant that contract

Very good chance that McVay will lose both Mike Thomas & JoJo Natson thru FA'cy event in about a half yr from now, but speedsters Nsimba Webster & Alex Bachman both very fast will replace them both.

New deals for WR's Kupp & Woods will be on the horizon. Kupp's & Reynolds comes due first in 2021 One is sure to be lost to FA'cy. Woods will not be an issue until 2022.

Higbee? As in Tyler Higbee?

Kupp and everyone else do extensions will get their money as well. Remember Rams just signed a huge naming rights deal for the stadium. So the money train won't be stopping anytime soon.

The cap is set by TV revenues.
