Ya mean you don't want the Horns to buy a Superbowl? Why, that's un-American!!!So admittedly the Rams went all in to win the SuperBowl in 2021. It worked but resulted in a big drop off in 2022 (some due to injuries, some due to lost personnel). I’m starting to alter my thinking on 2024 free agency. Rather than a couple big $$$ “splash” signings I’d like to see the Rams try to keep their OL in tact as much as possible and spread remaining $$$ on quality but reasonably priced FAs. So no $20m/yr Edge players. No $18m/yr LT. But improvement at Edge, CB, S, K(?).
"Well, it took 7 years to complete his college career, ya gotta figure it will take at least 2 years to finish his rookie season"We already drafted him: Stetson Bennet
Aside from Whitworth, have they gone out and signed any big name free agents, Floyd? Were Whitworth and Floyd considered top 5-10 free agents at the time? And were their contracts huge at the time? I recall Floyd only got a one year deal at first. So admittedly the Rams went all in to win the SuperBowl in 2021. Kind of what the Dodgers are doing.Ya mean you don't want the Horns to buy a Superbowl? Why, that's un-American!!!
Maybe Woods - although he was underrated at the time. Suh was a big name but we got him for a lower cost (lack of cap space). Wagner in that same boat.Aside from Whitworth, have they gone out and signed any big name free agents, Floyd? Were Whitworth and Floyd considered top 5-10 free agents at the time? The Rams haven’t been big players at the top of the free agent list, for the most part. However, they do have a few big holes to fill. I could see them going after a corner and edge but they likely won’t spend AD or Kupp type of money to do it.
Whit prob top 20ish but saw lower ranks, too. Floyd, no. He was second-tier-ishWere Whitworth and Floyd considered top 5-10
Wonder if Rams being burned by some guys makes them shy away from the biggest names. Jared Cook was pretty high on lists.Maybe Woods - although he was underrated at the time. Suh was a big name but we got him for a lower cost (lack of cap space). Wagner in that same boat.
Yeah. I think the rest were all below peak years or undervalued and the Rams saw a fit for their team. So they got a little bit of a bargain.Whit prob top 20ish but saw lower ranks, too. Floyd, no. He was second-tier-ish
I think Ramsey is still very good and the Rams could still use him. However, I believe that the Rams felt that by the time they would make another run at the playoffs, Ramsey would be slipping even more, so the timing was right. How about the Rams cutting the cord with Ramsey at almost the exact right time? Who knew? I sure didn't.
Another brilliant move by the front office as I Monday morning QB that trade now that also sets us up for 2.0
Yeah, the big contract free agents haven’t been the Rams MO since McVays time here. I guess that could change but they’ll get into a bidding war for a top edge or corner.Whit prob top 20ish but saw lower ranks, too. Floyd, no. He was second-tier-ish
I think one of the reasons for using trades is that was where the opportunity to get a difference-maker was, in the case of Ramsey and Stafford as well as Von.Wonder if Rams being burned by some guys makes them shy away from the biggest names. Jared Cook was pretty high on lists.
Maybe the highest of the Snead era.
Rams get their big names in trades ... and seems to have been preferred method.
GOin back to pre-snead McMichael (high), Drew Bennet (medium), Jake Long (very high), Jason Brown (medium) ... a lot of misses or leaving a lot to be desired ... of course that long ago is only important to us fans. Nothing to do with what they may do next year.
Almost a year late to the party but at least you showed!Guys..
I'm telling you, this coming offseason is going to be a wild one for the Rams.
This year was the salary cap, coaching staff.. and, most importantly, Sean Mcvay reset.
They have their new model set.. they can open up a ridiculous amount of money this offseason.. AND they have all of their draft picks, essentially.
There will not be a "slow build".. that's not realistic. You can't count on landing a QB like Stafford easily.. and he's very much a QB you can win another Super Bowl with.
This is LOS ANGELES... and Kroenke is all about big and bold. Look at the Lakers. Look at the Dodgers. Look at what the Rams did to win the Super Bowl.
Count on it.
What’d I miss here? LolAlmost a year late to the party but at least you showed!
Worth it. Burns especially.Yeah, the big contract free agents haven’t been the Rams MO since McVays time here. I guess that could change but they’ll get into a bidding war for a top edge or corner.
I’d rather Hunter but who knows? If they make a big signing then I guess edge may be it.Worth it. Burns especially.
