This. That mentality doesn't apply to the modern higher scoring game.1970's - 80's NFL football I might agree.... Todays game you have hit it hard until 0:00 is showing on the clock in the 4th quarter.

You can play like that against a high school team, but against the #1 team in the NFC you have to play 60 minutes of hard fought football.I get where you coming from but simple math and anaylitcs would say just turn dont the ball over and you win.
"hitting it hard" until the end sounds cool but might actually increase your chances if the losing...especially i this situation.
A sack fumble or int and now your really effed up.
In a one score game 100% you need to be aggressive but up 16 with 8 min left.."hitting it hard" is actually likley a bad decision
Tbh the rams would have even been better served to kneel it out than incompletions on 3rd down
But they didnt...because incompletions stop the clock and they did that 2 or 3 timesYou can play like that against a high school team, but against the #1 team in the NFC you have to play 60 minutes of hard fought football.
And back to your kneeling theory, that's basically what the Ram offense did on three possessions in the 4th quarter, and look what happened.
Disagree, every phase had problems. How many offense 3 and outs in the 4th Q? How many big runs did the D give up? A lot of mistakes its hard to blame one. Would that punt have happened like that if the offense got a few first downs? If they do is there time on the clock for Seattle late?Punt return was what fucked the game the most.
Up 16 with 8min left 3 and outs shouldnt matterDisagree, every phase had problems. How many offense 3 and outs in the 4th Q? How many big runs did the D give up? Yeah why ice the game when you can silly me.Up 16 with 8min left 3 and outs shouldnt matter
You could as easily fuck.the game up more with a turn over against a defense that is extremley dangerous.Yeah why ice the game when you can silly me.
Hey I get it. There comes a time when the day isn't over but you feel you did good enough to stop and hope others carry you the rest of the way.You could as easily fuck.the game up more with a turn over against a defense that is extremley dangerous.
I would have liked them to stay on the field with some 1st downs..im.with you on that.
But it shouldnt have mattered either way.
I bet even with multiple 3 and outs their win pribabilty was 95% or above
Its not like the offense did nothing in the 4th quarterHey I get it. There comes a time when the day isn't over but you feel you did good enough to stop and hope others carry you the rest of the way.
Yeah, that rah-rah play hard for 60 minutes does not mean attack on offense. Up 16 your first priority is to burn clock. #2 would be maintain possession and force the opponent to use their timeouts. And truthfully, despite the way the offense played with 3 and outs, despite the way the defense played, special teams was the culprit allowing a punt return TD and missing a 48 yard FG with 2:11 remaining. Without the PR TD we probably win. With the PR TD and the 48 FG we probably win. Our defense actually stopped them after the MFG. There was enough blame to go around but McVay didn't give up playcalling or fire Shula. He fired the ST coach.I get where you coming from but simple math and anaylitcs would say just turn dont the ball over and you win.

Im with you in that id like to see the offense do that as well...but even if they dont there is no way you should be able to lose that game up that many points and that much time leftWhat?
The way I see it is if your defense can hold down a top 5 offense until into the 4th qtr and you now hold a 16 pt lead…they’ve done their job.
The offense now has to close it using the best friend they have, the game clock.
You don’t have to go bombs away to score more TD’s but move the chains a little. Add a FG or two. Flip the field maybe?
Crapping the bed with multiple 3 and outs plus several incompletions is just handing the opposing team momentum and opportunities.
Obviously the defense and ST’s can’t fall apart but come on. Why do some folks think that a defense has to be the 85 Bears for four qtrs every week. No points no yards. Lol. Even good defenses don’t hold up like that.
Dan Campell is the ultimate aggression while ahead guy...he has gotten no better results than other standard philosophyYeah, that rah-rah play hard for 60 minutes does not mean attack on offense. Interesting example. Does he have worse results?Dan Campell is the ultimate aggression while ahead guy...he has gotten no better results than other standard philosophy
