Ok @Selassie I the haggis is the dark meat. Obviously the turnip mash and potato mash is on there too. The sauce is a whisky cream sauce.

Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish that Crofters used to eat back in the day. Crofters are basically farmers with tiny areas of land, they were traditionally self sustaining. They used all the resources they could, so haggis was a staple made of the leftovers of the sheep and cow after all the good cuts had gone. It's made of sheep lung, beef heart, beef kidney and loads of oats and pepper. Traditionally it was cooked in a sheeps stomach, although nowadays the casing tends to be plastic. It tastes way better than it sounds!

This traditional dish is still widely enjoyed in Scotland and particularly at things like weddings etc.

You know, that doesn't look bad at all. It looks better than the ground beef shit I usually get.

Does it have a strong iron taste from all the organ meat or does the oat and pepper help neutralize it?

No, it actually tastes very delicate considering. I really dislike Liver which is another traditional british dish (more English really). To me that tastes like iron and blood. It's quite unpleasant. Haggis is much nicer.

Thanks for the pic. Really cool seeing that.

It looks way different than I imagined.

Taught the daughter and niece how to shuck a few oysters today. Cheated a little and put them on the grill to break the seal for them.View attachment 40357View attachment 40358View attachment 40357View attachment 40358View attachment 40357View attachment 40358

Brudda... that's a good time right there. The wife and I buy a half bushel just for ourselves all the time. We prefer ours steamed like that.

I also have all kinds of toppings ready to load on top of them. Gotta eat those outside... too messy otherwise. LOL

No doubt. I just made some quick cocktail sauce this time with ketchup, horseradish, and Louisanna hot sauce. What are your favorite toppings? I wish I had some ground bear to pair with the oysters. I had some just last week. I should have saved some. I wasn't thinking of the game tonight. :woozy:

Saltine crackers
My seafood place has a killer cocktail sauce
Fresh horseradish
I make a jalapeno/habanero pepper relish
Butter
Lemons and limes
Various hot sauces

The wife and I put a little of all of that on each one. The key for us is the fresh glob of horseradish though.

Can I have snacks at 2am? I took tomorrow off, so we better fucking win. I have some nice cheese and some nice olives in the fridge, maybe if I'm hungry later I can snack on those. Sunday is cheat day so I gotta be sensible weekdays. Dinner will just be a simple pesto based pasta dish tonight.

Keeping it simple doing a mexican grilled chicken power bowls for wife and I. Chicken, black beans, corn, rice cooked with rotel, some spices, jalapenos, and some cheese with tortilla chips. Was going to do a side of chorizo but trying to keep it relatively healthy for weekday meals so probably won't.
