But the worst injustice is allowing the play to continue well beyond forward progress being halted when it benefits the offense but prematurely calling the play dead when the defense strips the ball away before forward progress is halted and the play blown dead by a whistle. That shit is criminal!

I do see the refs give a little more time on forward progress on QB sneaks, but I also see it with a running back that has the ball and three lineman start pushing the running back for extra yards.

Forward progress whistles are so subjective, and I have seen Williams benefit from extended forward progress when the play should have been whistled dead.

I just don't see a reason to get all bent out of shape. The reason the Rams lost to the Eagles is they stopped playing in the 2nd half and the kicker was having elevation issues on his kicks. If the Rams had won that game, it would be crickets regarding the push tush.

NFL Teams, fans and analysts are getting “bent out of shape” regarding the tush push.

That’s not why and a separate topic for why the Rams lost to the Eagles.

The Eagles got to and won a SB using a play that can't be officiated as it stands now. It skews the integrity of the league. That's why the play should be banned, at least until they can iron things out.

IMO the topics are related just not parallel to each other..... We win that game and nobody cares about the push tush.... Well from the Rams fan perspective.

As for the rest of the NFL fans complaining about it.... I could care less.... I don't post on or join other teams message boards.... But your point is well taken.

Trust me.... players don't worry about integrity when chewing at the line of scrimmage.... Either you win the line of scrimmage or you don't.

Players perspective:
1. They look at what advantage can be had before the down is played.
2. When the down is over they are already thinking about the next down and how to get the advantage.

Fans Perspective:
1. Get to watch the replay in slo-mo.
2. If the play benefits their team all is great.
3. If the play doesn't benefit their team, watch that replay in slo-mo to nauseum.

Agree with your post. But the refs still need to DO THEIR JOB and call false starts. These little things add up during the course of the game. I've seen refs call false start because some guy's ear twitches but on the tush push from the side view, it's clear that the right side of the line frequently jumps. 4th and 6 is a whole different game

Slightly off-topic, but related ... Why are OTs (usually OLT) routinely allowed to jump well before the snap now (in pass pro)? I mean, I know why of course with the focus on protecting the QB, but it is a similar issue of integrity with how games are called. Back in 'the day', blatant False Starts (AKA Illegal Procedures) were just not missed.

I've noticed this too. It happens on almost every snap. And to be honest, Alaric Jackson is particularly bad for it. They either need to start calling false starts consistently, get rid of the rule, or modify the rule so that they only call it when egregious (though that is a slippery slope). Because as it stands, with how they never call it on the tush push (even though we all know it happens every single time, at this point who cares if you cannot see it, just throw the flag, you're guaranteed to be right), or on almost every play despite the LT jumping.... you just feel cheated when you do get flagged for it.

Your only seeing this from a TV view or in the stands. Lineman and TE's move as soon as the ball moves so it may give the appearance the tackle is moving early but in most cases they are not. Watch the TE and the Tackle at the same time. They both move at the same time but it looks different because the Tackle is moving back while the TE is stationary then moves forward to run their route.
 
The Rams losing to the Eagles had at least as much to do with the left side of the O line collapsing as it did with any low kick issues.
I do see Tackles moving all the times these day where as just a few years ago were flags. Not sure why it does not seem to be a penalty these days.
AI cameras could solve it all, it would be pretty easy. But thats not a way I think we should go.
If we can see the Eagles moving before the snap in real time, a "trained" ref should easily be able to see it. The NFL is allowing it to happen for whatever reason.
Still, Hurts seems to like it strong men manhandling his ass.
