Didn't the rest of the TEAM also play a huge role in the Eagles success. In 2017, the Eagles were a juggernaut who finished 13-3 with the #1 seed in the playoffs. And this was while resting most of their starters and losing the final game to Dallas. Foles came in and played decent to well. But when he started, the Eagles beat the 3-13 Giants and 6-10 Raiders during that regular season. He played well in the postseason, but didn't the defense giving up a total of 17 points in the Divisional Round and Championship Game combined play a huge role in the team's success, too? And despite that, if not for a bungled INT attempt where a Falcons defense allowed an easy INT to hit his knee and go to an Eagles player, the Eagles might have lost in the divisional round.

Rested? They earned the #1 seed in the NFC by winning the Rams game, then the next 2, to clinch with 13 wins. Everyone had written them off. Foles played lights out in getting to the SB, 600 yards passing, 3 TD, 0 turnovers 120+ passer rating. Then of course he outdueled TB12. Tall order to assume Wentz would have done same, especially when you saw the difference in how the team played with him and with Foles in 2018.
So, we'll see how this plays out. If Hurts is able to salvage the season, I dont see how there can be any defense of Wentz
And yet it was Foles that actually made that call if you remember. Pederson did all of say.. "yeah, let's do it".
Big Dick Nick should be every eagle fan's hero. Without him, that team doesn't win that SB. PERIOD.
Wentz to Indy makes a ton of sense.

The same Wentz that absolutely torched us to the tune of four TDs couldn't have matched was Foles did in that Super Bowl? Yea I strongly disagree.
Yep, they benefitted from the continually inept Falcon redzone offense, which failed to utilize Julio Jones at the end of the game.
That being said, Foles was lights out in the SB, also thanks to Belichick benching his top CB before the game.
I will also say Wentz benefitted from an extremely easy schedule where his only win as a starter against a winning team was against the Rams. He went 1-2, with losses to KC & Seattle against winning teams.
They also played some real dog teams that yr. Cards, Niners, Bears, Broncos, Chargers, Giants 2x, Redskins 2x, and even Dallas 2x... was poor as well, but those others were brutal teams.
So it was a perfect storm, until the Wentz injury and to their credit they got past that and beat a Patriot team that had one of their weakest defenses in years.
Without him, that team doesn't make it to the Superbowl.
Yes. They rested their starters during the final game and still were 13-3. That's my point. They were a very good team. Everyone had written them off? Maybe some Rams fans, but no everyone did not. Especially after Foles completed that game vs. the Rams. The 2018 season with Wentz coming back off a serious knee injury has nothing to do with what he was doing in 2017 when he was on an MVP pace. HE was playing lights out, too, remember. C'mon he had 33 TDs vs. 7 INTs in 13 games, including 4 vs the Rams when he went down.
Had he stayed healthy, it's not hard for me to believe that the team with Wentz could have beaten the Rams during that regular season game as they had the lead when he went out. It's also not hard to believe that the Eagles with a healthy Wentz would have beaten the eventual 3-13 Giants and 6-10 Raiders to get to 13 wins. The team with Wentz playing at the MVP level he was playing couldn't take advantage of his defense holding their opponents to 17 total points in 2 playoff games to get to the Super Bowl? C'mon.
Foles had a lights out Super Bowl. But the 2017 Wentz could have done the very same thing. That team was a force and he was having a career year.
If Jalen Hurts can salvage the season, it could just mean that Hurts is a better fit for the team as it stands now and that Wentz (who appears to be damaged goods now) needs a change of scenery.

The problem becomes though how much money it will cost Philly to move on from him. What we're more likely to see is a new coach this year given a chance to redeem Wentz and if a year doesn't do the job then they move on from him when it's less of a cap hit. They're really screwed on the cap and have very little money they can create to ease things up. It's a result of their GM playing the game of cap manipulation for too long, same is going to happen in New Orleans.
Going to push back on the idea that Philadelphia should move Wentz even if it’s possible; and I will add that I am not a Carson Wentz fan and really don’t like the Eagles.
Wentz has been awful and the Eagles are a mess, and both have been huge disappointments. Still this has been “one-of-those-years” that falls upon a couple teams most every year.
Start with injuries. Well beyond what most teams endure. All Pro RG Brooks and former #1 pick starting LT Dillard are out before the season starts; and Pro Bowl RT Johnson barely plays before hitting IR. Even several back-up OL have been injured.
The Eagles skill position talent is good but not exceptional. Wentz favorite targets are his TEs, especially Pro Bowler Ertz who has barely played. The other TE is a former high pick and Goddert has missed time with injuries. The top RB Sanders has missed games.
That’s a ton of injuries.
Add in that neither the Defense, nor Coaching Staff have distinguished themselves.
Then there’s Covid.
2020 has not been a “normal” season. No off-season camps and in-person meetings, modified training camps and no pre-season games; and a Regular Season that’s been anything but regular.
Although every team has dealt with Covid, not every team has dealt with it the same way ... and that’s not on one player.
Wentz represented a huge investment by the Eagles’ Organization. Starting with the draft capital to acquire the 2nd overall pick and then with the huge contract.
Furthermore, Wentz has played at an elite level in the past. Just don’t think an organization should quickly walk away from a player given so many factors.
Finally, I recall how so many NFL media “experts” (such as Chris Simms and Mike Lombardi) labeled Jared Goff a ‘bust’ after a seven game rookie season when it seemed everything worked against him.

Foles had a lights out Post season.
320+ yds per game, 73% comp, 7 TD (1 REC) to 1 INT, 116 passer rating
The idea that Wentz was just going to duplicate that despite having no playoff experience is just a joke.
