Wife just said it was released that he was walking down 595 and hit by a dump truck. My guess is the dump truck was oversized and sticking outside the lane. Not sure why he was walking down a highway...but that's a bad way to go out.

Gil's well connected around the league. He's probably parroting something he heard via the scouting side. Either way, given the way he punched out, seemed like a risky thing to do.

Regardless if the kid was an idiot or something else, he had a family that’s going through maybe the worst day of their lives and this unthinking, doddering old man made it just a little worse with his thoughtless comments.

We don’t know what happened with him and it could have been a medical issue that made him do what he did, I hesitate to declare him deserving of what he got, especially before the corpse is even cold.

as for what you or I think, it doesn’t matter really except being empathetic for family members who don’t deserve to have their loved one’s memory shat upon by Gil Brandt for a radio show. Just my opinion.

I'm not declaring him deserving of what happened. I'm just observing that Gil's comments might be accurate, even if they were in bad taste given a family somewhere losing their son.

I certainly am sensitive to the tragic nature of this. But we all get our window and some of us shorten said window by taking more risks than others. For Gil to say that I'd assume he's heard a lot of shit about the guy over time via his connections.

But I don't want to seem like I'm shitting on a guy's passing. That's wrong so gonna stop there. :clinkingbeer:
