A couple more comparison stats for fun

Rosh had a 69 yd TD in that Highlight and Sadiq's Longest was around 30 with a career long of 39

Roush averaged more yards per catch 49 545 to Sadiq's 51 - 460

Sadiq got in the end zone more at 8 -2

Sadiq is obviously the better athlete but hasn't really shown out like the combine and post combine hype are making himout to be.

It's the physicality / blocking that impresses me the most about Sadiq. That physicality has to be accounted for by the defense. But, physicality AND speed from someone capable of lining up all over the formation?? Matchup NIGHTMARE, IMO.

I envision play action plays where he could line up at FB or H-Back or just motioning in from the slot and second level defenders brace for a physical block and he runs right by them. Touchdown.

Man to man coverage and he motions out wide of a WR and a LB follows him? Most LBs are going to have to have help over the top opening things up for others.

A TE screen with someone that can actually run with some juice?

Imo, that Jet motion they tried with Ferguson would actually work with Sadiq. He's run it at Oregon.

I believe that McVay had Vernon Davis & Jordan Reed on the same team at one point so there's some hope. But, if he really has an open door for Higbee it's probably just a pipe dream.

Oh well. But I agree. Shanahan would probably even use him by mixing in some of the plays he has for Juszczyk and most teams would struggle stopping him. I believe Asshole Face would get the most out of him, too.
Yes. if you had him in a system where you were using him allover the field, he could be a beast, will he ? that remains to be seen. No way will I be dissapointed if we grab him because you know we will figure out how to use him and that wont be as our 4th TE.

I just think we can get stronger going another direction

I don't think TE is a need. But if I were going to take one from this class I'd probably target Klein.

Roush is a TE. A good one. But truth be told, one could argue that the Rams don't really need another TE. In fact, they could pick up a decent one on day three or free agency and fill out the room if the need arises.

But they could use a weapon and more speed and a matchup problem on offense. That's Sadiq if used properly. And that's the main key. Usage. If the plan is not to use him as a weapon then I'd agree that he would be a bad selection at #13.

BTW, any post combine hype for Sadiq just comes from novices that really don't follow the draft that closely. Draftniks already knew that he was an athletic freak. And he was considered the top rated TE in this draft class by most, if not all, draftnik media entering and throughout the season.

Statistical comparisons are fun. But can be misleading.

In the 2017 draft one TE was coming off a season with 22 receptions for 314 yards and 4 TDs. It was his final and best season. Another TE had 49 receptions 717 yards and 4 TDs during his final and best season. The 49ers took the former while the latter was McVay's first selection as head coach.

Certainly not a need that we have to invest a high pick in.

I am pretty confident we will have a new TE in the room and on the 53.

I only brought up Roush because TE keeps coming up and investing in Sadiq isn't my favorite idea also someone mentioned trigg as another player to consider.
Trig was rated and projected slightly ahead of Roush prior to the combine but it is likely that Roush may have jumped slightly ahead with the character questions emerging for Trig and the solid character and high IQ of Roush

Both are projected as round 3 -4 guys and we don't have a 4th. I don't see us picking a TE with one of our top 4 picks.
A FA, later round TE, or trade may be in play, even a trade during the draft, McVay love TE and now we use 3 on the field when in 13

@Memphis Ram I agree with your above post and am in line with your position. I put the stats up for fun and to show Sadiq's stats are to date not what his combine suggests. Yes stats are well a peek into the players abilities not a full view nor do they include all the proper context, but it is draft season lol

Charles Robinson asked after the combine: "The kid had good production last year at Oregon but after what we saw at the combine, how was this dude not an absolute superstar?"

I think that's legit.

FWIW, I like him as a prospect just not at 13 necessarily.
That's where taking a closer look at the team comes into play. Oregon has become TE U. Last year he played with Ferguson. This year he played with what will probably be the next big thing in the 2027 Draft Class in Jamari Johnson who could potentially turn out to be the best of the three.

Being Dante Moore's top receiving target with what some believe to a a disappointing stat line should tell one a lot, too.

We'd have to use our first round pick to get him and I'd so much rather use that pick for a WR. We have Puka, a 33 year old Davante Adams on the last year of his deal, and besides that not much else. Frankly I would like us to add a couple receivers. Tight end to me feels too much like a luxury pick to be using the #13 pick on it.

Sadiq ran a 4.39 last week. Imagine him vs a LB on a crosser or wheel route. Ferguson got opened multiple times last year. Sadiq will be great downfield. If the Niners get him I'll be depressed for 12 years.

I watched a highlight video in which he ran a lot of short, quick screen routes. He was explosive. I didn't see many deep routes. He did have some nice caches in the End Zone. The Rams should bring him in for a closer look. He does present some good possibilities. I don't know if he will run routes or read defenses. The Rams are all about the details.

I think now that the rams made a trade. They trade back in the 1st and get some extra picks. 13 is a good to great spot to be at.

I doubt Sadiq will be there

I'm with the old man on this one... would seem dumb to draft a toy prospect TE with our 13th pick.

The dude has freak athletic ability... but has awkward hands. Might end up being a good player but overall I find the idea not appealing.

Going to be a bit blunt as well.... TE are not typically make or break players in the NFL.

Hell no lol....Ferguson is going to be a star, Parkinson showed he is starting caliber and Allen is a great third TE to have. Even without Higbee, this was one big giant hell no from me

Exactly, all that awesome athleticism yet the production doesn't match. I'm a pass on Sadiq at 13 or at all. A trade back and picking him up would make more sense if the Rams did that. I just don't see it.

In the unlikely event we do draft a tight end in this class, why not Eli Raridon (Notre Dame)? Big target (6’7”, 250 lbs.), solid hands, maybe not the best athlete, but a kid who will play in the league for a while because he’s lengthy, reliable, and knows his role.

Stowers is something. I don't know why he hasn't been in the conversation as TE1.
Probably because Sadiq is just that much better as a blocker. Stowers is definitely the better receiver at this point though, I see him going late 1st/early 2nd.
