Born an raised in Franklin County. Half of my town is actually Crawford county. Being that we are still in the STL area(about 70 miles south west) I've always looked at going to the malls as an event. Making a trip to Watson road as a kid for Christmas shopping was always a big deal. Boy how times have changed. Now, as a grown man, I'll take my acreage and quite anyday to anything STL has to offer. Except Imos, love that shit. We just got one a couple years ago. Lol. we are the last town down 44 to actually get STL stations. Once you pass me, you get a lot of Chiefs fans so that's annoying.

No they are not good. Good luck trying to figure out what animal/ vegetable/alien that meat came from.
They're very small and very cheap. Curiously addicting though. My friend and I used to go there every night after work (2nd shift) and I'd order 5 burgers and 7 fish sandwiches. Had no trouble eating them all. As time went on I bought less and less of the burgers and more of the fish sandwiches. Decent but not great fries. Of course this was in 1968 so things might have changed a little since then.

Born and raised in Ballwin. Four years in Columbia (MIZ), then two in Tokyo, then moved up to Boston in '05.
Transplanted to Missouri about 35 years ago. Attend SEMO in the early 80s so had a lot of friends from the St. Louis area. Spent quite abit of time in St. Louis because of a girlfriend that co-oped with Macdonald-Douglas. Would like to say I got to know the city well but was spending all my time trying to keep her in bed, every moment she spent out of bed was a waste.
Alan summed it up pretty good in his above post. We always headed there after a night of drinking. They are curiously addicting as Alan put it. lol There's also a reason they're called "sliders". The fish is also their best item. I got to the point I was getting doubles all the time because they're small burgers and fish. Not the best, but still good. They use to be (in the 80's) one of the most profitable fast food franchises, and privately owned. Not sure if they are now or not.
Your "godfather"? JK man. Sorry to hear. I guarantee it wasn't my sister. Unless she attacked him with one of her crutches. St. Louis politics are like politics anywhere else. They can be ruthless. Hope he came out ok.

I believe you. I was joking on the "godfather" reference with the Webbe's. They may have been ruthless but also had a good side. Well, I suppose that was if you were on their side. My sister worked for Sorkis Jr. when he was an alderman. He treated her like gold. As I stated in a few posts back in this thread, they were also known for buying a semi trailer load of turkeys (maybe they hijacked it? lol) or even two at times, and handed them out to their constituents in their ward. Their way of buying votes I guess, but the people the turkeys were given to were the needy ones of the ward. I'm not defending them, just saying they weren't all bad. Last I heard Sorkis Jr. has a restaurant in St. Charles.

Man, I swear by Dogtown's frozen pizza. There's another brand out that I actually like a little better, but I prefer both of them to paying for Imo's high priced pizza. I get mine from Schnuck's.
