McVay has standards for winning and losing gracefully, no need to compromise that when there's no reason to do so.
I tell my GF whos an Eagles fan, that the Eagles are assholes all the time!Classy move by McVay. No need to run up the score in that situation. Showing respect to the other team goes a long way. Look at how the Cardinals ownership went out of their way to accommodate the Rams during the playoffs and the fire situation. The Rams do it the right way. The Eagles not so much with how they handled the waiver wire thing and claimed a player they wanted but it wasn't a class move.
Meh. We were going to kick the FG until the run off that made the play unnecessary.
I guess none of that DUCK stink hasn't drifted as far south as LA, then???Also no need to rub it in.
My thoughts on this have nothing to do with fantasy football. The “casual fan” and fantasy football are ruining this game.
Neither do mine, and I enjoy FFMy thoughts on this have nothing to do with fantasy football.
The FG unit stayed on the field. They were going to kick it as they couldn't run out the clock by taking a knee. Then the 10 second run off happened and they were able to just stand there and run out the clock. I remember McVay giving a signal like he was declining a penalty but he was telling his kicking team to not run the play. That was strange at the end there. FG team out? Then "wait wait come back in!"
Yeah and then he tells Callahan during the coach's handshake "I don't know what was happening blah blah"... a little PR there by McVay.The FG unit stayed on the field. Understood, to both. Just my thoughts.Neither do mine, and I enjoy FF
They all been around long enough to know it isnt an insult. Why not take things as you know they are intended not make up a narrative.IMO sportsmanship etiquette for V-formation is when you can run out the clock before turning the ball over on downs. If that isn't the case, you run the ball at them full speed and generally straight-ahead. If on the wrong side of midfield, you punt on 4th. If inside the 50, you run it again on 4th. If you score a TD ... you score.
Kicking a field goal would be lame.
If I was on the other side of this specific instance and unemotional, I'd recognize the attempt at sportsmanship. However, add in a little emotion and I'd view it as bit patronizing.
That was kind of the point though - it didn't seem graceful.McVay has standards for winning and losing gracefully, no need to compromise that when there's no reason to do so.
THIS is the point that I think(?) has been missed by some on this tread.Tennessee could have elected not to run off the 10 secs, forcing McVay to kick the FG. It was a class move by both coaches in the end.
