Great example of whenever there’s something good on D, credit goes elsewhere.. but if anything bad happens, it’s on Morris.
I think Morris' decision to start Kendrick this past game was a poor call. They should have went next man up and had Kendrick dressed and in reserve.

You didn't miss anything. Durant played all 59 defensive snaps, as did Witherspoon.
Kendrick played in the Nickel, and got in for 21 plays. From what I saw, Kendrick was mostly outside when he was in the game. Got to give him credit though ... Kendrick did plenty of damage ... To The Rams ... despite only playing 36% of the defensive snaps.
I think at this point we have to put in Shelly to see if he's an upgrade to the position.

I don't think that is necessary. I am afraid Shelly isn't going to help us. What they should have done, however, is start Tomlinson outside at Kendrick's spot to provide the least amount of disruption in the scheme at large. Keep everyone else where they have been and work hard to get Tomlinson ready.
Way they approached it ended up hurting them I think. Now I still think the loss was largely execution and in particular the offense not taking advantage of what was there but the secondary had its worst outing of the season given how poor the Steelers pass game is, and that is not a coincidence given what happened during the week.
For Dallas I think there will be a better prep for the starters, whoever they are and wherever they line up.
You can't say for certain that Shelly wouldn't be an upgrade. At this point it wouldn't hurt to kick the tires.

First off, my apologies for being technically challenged and not able to post the link, but today I read an article in turfshowtimes.com on the staggering improvement of Kendrick compared to last season. I know PFF doesn’t always jive with the eye test, but some of Kendrick’s metrics are scary good right now, especially when you see the lineup of receivers he’s defended and their “success” against him.
The penalties though, oh the penalties. They are not only really bad plays at really bad times, but they have changed the direction of the game. They make it tough to like him, I get it; but the level of improvement from year one to year two is impressive. Admit it, everyone thought Kendrick would not be starting and Durant was gonna be the “star” of this secondary.
If someone could find and post that link, we’d all see exactly why Kendrick was not benched for this game—he’s playing pretty well.
If half of this year’s rookie crop makes that big of a leap next season, this is gonna be a damn good team.
Just “leave the gun. Take the cannolis.”

These are the rankings. These are all the articles words not mine but I agree that he’s no where near as bad as some people make out. It’s a mixture of good and bad with some penalties very debatable. I don’t see him being the main problem. We are not generating turnovers - that’s partly because we need more pressure right across the front. We need to generate more, a lot more, if we are going to knock off established teams like the Steelers who even if not as good are well coached

I've watched more than enough football to confidently say that PFF is off the mark. Derion Kendrick is a good CB at times. He's a disaster at other times. He's a roller coaster ride who loves to bottom out with back-breaking mistakes in the absolute worst moments.These are the rankings. I'd still take Durant over Kendrick. Durant has long-speed to recover, is a better cover-corner than people give him credit for, and he just isn't a fit for the STAR position; he's not physical enough for it. Put him on the outside, tell him to cover, try to pick off passes, and you're going to see his rookie-year form.
I will not forgive Kendrick for this game. It's one thing to screw up in a blowout like he did against Jerry Jeudy and the Broncos. It's one thing to get arrested. It's one thing to have confidence.
It's another thing to screw up in a close game, to make the same mistakes he made in college, and act like a yappy little dog who did something spectacular when he's done nothing to earn it.

Another rough outing for Kendrick. Not sure how they can keep trotting him out there with the recent gun charges added on top of it. You have to think such a move is bad for morale in the locker-room. What must the players behind him be thinking? I don't think we can just assume that Kendrick is showing himself to be the superior player in practice. It is possible but I do not think we can just assume it. This defensive staff has developed a bit of a trend, over the past few years, of starting players that are not performing very well, and when injuries force them to make a change, the replacement players prove to be upgrades.
