Durden was an undrafted free agent who signed with Detroit after the Draft but was cut in late-August.

The Rams signed him to their Practice Squad in mid-September; and he got his first game-action on Sunday, with three Rams DL out with injuries. Durden was then added to the 53-man roster a day or two ago.
Kind of a bigger assed guy than the others on the roster. Helping fill Brown role.

I'll say...
6'4" 305lbs (for those in the UK, that'd be about 22 stones) :laugh1:!
Some hardy stock right there....

Regarding Cory Durden's weight, there are sources that have him over 300 LBs, and others in the low-290s.
I hope it's the former because Bobby Brown was the only 300+LB DL on the 53-man roster.

Turner's a keeper. Brown though... I'm thinking we missed on him. But there's still time of course.

Gee. Given what it appears he's been asked to do, I believe that Brown has played well when healthy.
We'll see. PFF seems to like him. But every time I notice the guy he's wired to a blocker and not doing much.

I like Brown, but would still want them to add a big body this offseason.

D Johnson looks like he could stick around as a 5th or 6th guy.

Turner is having a pretty exceptional Rookie season. Fantastic value.

I think he's still growing... and still a value for where he was drafted.
I've always comped him to Kinlaw with the 9ers... physically very similar.. but drafted waaaaay later.

Ignored? In the last 4 drafts, they have taken 6 OLB (3 this past draft). Some haven't worked out but that doesn't mean they've "ignored the position".

On the Humphrey/Saffold line I'm referring to fans who can't let shit go. Von Miller was a rental. PERIOD. He was getting old (played 11 games last year and just 2 this year) seeking the most money he could get and we made him an offer that he didn't like. I'm glad he didn't take it, unless we could have paid him by the game. But that's not ignoring it either. Plus, the freakin guy only played 11 games for us. Not like we lost a long time Ram. I connected the two.....losing Miller 2 season's ago and the whining about Creed Humphrey DESPITE a Lombardi...and said why not still whine about losing Saffold...that was only 4 seasons ago!!

As far as "the answer" how the fuck do you know how Young and Mathis are going to turn out? Young is already a stud and Mathis has played 2 games. Geez. Sorta like premature ej.....coming to conclusions waaaaaay too early, doncha think!!

Eleven games? I didn’t think vm played in THAT many. I know he stood on the sidelines for the first couple, but ELEVEN? Well, 4 postseason games helps that total.

The Rams rented a couple guys to put them over the top in ‘21. They wanted big $$ or retired after that, so see ya. And I’m just not getting all the love for Mathis right now. Is it because of blind hope? We’re going into week 12 and he’s done very little, played very little.

As for the investment into the position, this is the first year the Rams have really prioritized it in the draft. They were signing/trading for pass rushers while hoping to catch “Nacua in a bottle” for drafting/signing depth. Young already looks like a home run. I don’t see why the Rams can’t draft another to pair with him. Imagine two of those guys on rookie deals. There would be $$ for an established CB.

Correction. This is the first time they prioritized the position in the draft and it worked out. They took TLew 7 spots lower than Young.

And on that "both guys on rookie deals" angle, absolutely. But sometimes it's better to get them a year apart so the second contracts don't come due the same off season.

He's got one gap attacking personnel and plays them 2 gap and one and a half gap read/react which slows down the penetration.
2-gap and 1½-gap are not the same. You have to watch the attack, the gap assignment then the overlap techniques to squeeze and help with gap next to them. And in some cases the Rams 3-4 is one gap, if pinch, slants, etc. are called. It is more complex
that folks realize, all sort of things within each iteration or the scheme.

Gaines left because of his two gap nonsense (he was offered as much as Tampa Bay).
Since he wasn't playing it, this can't be accurate. He probably left because the Rams didn't think they could pay him the $3.5 mil in total money he got for 2023 in TB. I don't know what Rams offered but doubt they would have gone as high as Bucs. I bet it was money.

PFF hacks don't know what they are looking at.
Isn't it possible they are the ones who know what they are looking at?
