Incredible ball skills. He's caught the ball in all types of situations. Breaking on routes or adjusting to a ball downfield. He almost always gets his head around and finds the ball. He has great instincts for the position. Lastly, he has underrated speed. I can't remember anyone running away from him so far.

Darious Williams is the perfect complement to Ramsey.

With Ramsey shutting down the #1 option, Williams being the ballhawk that he is allows him to really make a difference in games.

I dunno what it will take to retain him, but we should do whatever we can to try.

With the cap contracting and so many teams like the Saints, Eagles and others so far over the cap, I don't think guys on winning teams will be wise to "shop around". Better to wait out the cap of '21 and look for that money in '22 if at all possible.

Just like tru was the perfect compliment to jj. He was just about a shutdown corner opposite jj. However when he became the main man he was barely serviceable.

.

Yeah, some guys and some teams mistake being awesome against a team's #2 for being a top tier #1 player.

I could be wrong, but that seems to be the case for AJ Bouye... opposite Ramsey, he had better numbers, but he was far less special without him and hasn't been that special in Denver.

Don't get me wrong, he's very good, but he's not Ramsey.

DW is not even listed as the official starter @ CB opposite Ramsey. He is listed as having 6 starts thus far in 2020

I have been banging the drum for DW for a long time now.
The rams.com depth chart has been off all season.

The last time I bothered to look at it they still had Joe Noteboom at left guard.

I blame the Coronavirus.

The thing I love about Williams that I have mentioned in previous threads about him is that he is just so smart. He doesn't have the physical attributes of a Ramsey but he plays with his head. He is always tracking the ball and is so damn smart about how much room he gives receivers which is how he gets his interceptions and that tip in back of endzone. He just has that instinct to know how much space to give that he can make up in time to make a play. It's a very rare talent that makes a good CB into a great CB.

He's one of the few CBs in the NFL I watch who gets his head turned at the ball more often than not. Get so tired of seeing CBs defend with their backs and hands up in the air hoping they hit something while drawing dpi. Very refreshing to watch Williams play how a CB in the NFL should.

Rams' Jalen Ramsey: 'Time to start talking about' Darious Williams as household name

This DW article is very long best you all just click on it if you're interested.... my comments below:

Outside Corners Darious Williams & Troy Hill with Ramsey playing the Star position. JJ III & Jordan Fuller starting @ Safety posts provide the Rams the best defensive secondary in many decades.

Rams DB reserves have played well too like safety Nick Scott & corner David Long. Other reserves JuJu Hughes, Jake Gervase, CB's Tyrique Mcghee & JB Reed.... round out a very good DB reserve unit.

Lowest passer rating allowed by CBs:
1. Darious Williams - 41.4
2. Bryce Callahan - 45.5
3. Bashaud Breeland - 47.3
4. Carlton Davis - 57.1
5. Jamar Taylor - 59.4

PFFs passer ratings arr a little messed up because it only gives a grade when the CB is targeted.

Say you have a shutdown corner like Jalen, and the ball isn't thrown his way or not often like Sunday. PFF gives that player a lousy grade.

Don't get me wrong DW has played his a#%$ and I would like to see him resigned.

I just think PFF grading at times has some flaws.

Jalen got an overall 55 grade Sunday and I'm like what the heck,he just shutdown DK.

DW got a 91 for his excellent play.

Dont know how much money he should get, but we need to resign him if we can. Ramsey/D Will on the outside will make our pass D formidable for years, and both are true ball hawks. He needs to get paid IMO over Everett, JJ, Floyd, Reynolds if we can make it work.

Here 2020 RFA Rules.Tenders,salaries .

Looks like anywhere between 4.6 5.2 for a 1st round tender. Also looks like we can match any offer. Also looks like even if we offer 1st tender and he gets signed away, most we can get is a 2nd rounder, since he wasn't a 1st round pick. JMHO Here is the link.

Two things I notice most about D Williams:
1. Elite body control. Soul surfer put it well, he’s an acrobat.
2. Closing speed when the ball’s in the air.

Both qualities were on full display near the end of the Seahawk game when he tipped away the pass in the EZ. When he located the ball, he shifted into a higher gear and then tipped it away while in full extension. Amazing.

Just hope he didn’t hurt himself on that play, looked like he was favoring his elbow a little bit.
