I think McVay realized that this team wont be able to compete for a SB. Perhaps also Stafford has regressed some as well due to all the moving parts. Better to rip the bandaid and go young and recoup picks and reset the cap. It sucks but I don’t want to be New Orleans. Kupp was never going to be a full-time stud like he once was ever again at his age. We need to build this secondary and find a young QB

I would be all for that except it's 2 years away at least until he can declare for NFL draft and even then we'd still have to hope whoever has the 1st overall would actually trade it. Whatever we get now is going to be for the next draft class and from what I know and am hearing it's a pretty junk class for QBs.

If Kupp plays well vs Minn & SEA, but The Rams lose, ie the season is a loss but Kupp's value rebounds a bit, maybe I could believe McSnead would do this.

Right now, just vultures looking for a cheap meal, imo, and sports writers noting it & baiting clicks.

Makes me think this game is a must-win to hold onto him. At 2-5 we couldn't get back to .500 until late November.

Yeah if no trades happen in the next 24 hours it certainly seems like the Rams will be playing for their season and for their teammates on TNF. Might be an uncanny devious motivation tool for the whole team.... win or we're blowing you guys apart. Stafford going to go soul stealing if allowed.

The FA period this past offseason killed us. They almost added Evans, who would have added speed and size at X to pair Kupp and Nacua. But instead they end up with an OG from Detroit who instantly gets hurt. And their OL investments of him and Dotson didn't translate into a line that was ready to go, instead we hit the season with a fucking shambles up front.

If this is true it probably means they don't see AJ as our long term LT. In other words they think it's gonna take a couple offseasons to fully stack the OL and weapons to the level needed to make another run. And if that is true then it means they're willing to at least consider Kupp and Stafford being moved, with the caveat that each of them would only go somewhere they want to go. Because I do think the Rams do a good job of taking care of guys who deserve it in that regard.

But if they like AJ at LT then I think it is possible to get this offense loaded for a 2025 run. From there the question is do they want to do that, or maybe just rip the bandaid off and do a full rebuild.

If McSnead do this now, they are beyond fucking stupid. At least let Kupp play and show even more value. If we lose the next 2, then ok, entertain it if we aren't keeping him next year. Besides, another team could lose a star WR. The more teams that need one, the better. Start a fuckin bidding war and get the most. Unfortunately I'm really worried that Snead will get fucked over in a trade as he never seems to get value.

Stupid question, is it possible to redo Kupp's contract considering all the time missed etc. and he stays with the team? obviously depending if Kupp is okay with that.

Kupp's cap number is 29 mill next year. If we could maybe half that?

I'm fine with this. Believe me, I love Kupp. My dad bought me his jersey last Christmas. But let's face facts: Kupp's numbers have regressed every year since his Triple Crown year, this class is loaded with wide receiver talent, and right now, we're still 2-4 with a tough game against the Vikings next.

It would suck, but if we got a high second, we could use it on Shavon Revel Jr. or a dominant wide receiver or a falling offensive lineman, it would help the team, especially with our scouts. It sucked trading Ramsey as well, but we haven't regretted the Byron Young pick, have we?

That's why we rebuild the defense, offensive line and receiver groups in the interim. Darnold is your stop gap.

In this light, does that mean move on from Stafford too?

Call me crazy, but I think I prefer the Tennessee quarterback to Arch. Nico Iamaleava. Remember that name.

For those spreading rumors. Kupp has a $52M dead cap number. So we lose an all pro, eat the cap, and get a 2nd rounder ( which no one will trade for a player with an injury history)? Math doesn’t add up.
