I'll be very happy with him getting his first All-Pro nod.. cool stuff. There's a TON of incredible talent at the position, so that's quite an achievement.
I wish we could have seen Kupp's selection to an All-Madden Team. It would have been awesome to hear John break down some of his big run-after-the-catch plays.

Oh, that would've been fan-freaking-tastic.

Stafford has a better QB Rating than Brady and is more than good enough in yards and TDs to make his case and won the head to head and would be leading the team with the best record in the NFC.
That's the textbook argument for MVP.
Sorry but it's not happening.

You need to read the conversation.

The scenario presented was would Stafford win the MVP if the Rams had beaten the Packers.

The answer there is a yes. His raw numbers present a strong enough case and he would be leading the team with the best overall record in the NFC and the one seed.

One game absolutely makes that difference.

Cooper Kupp Deserves NFL MVP Recognition

With one game left in the 2021 NFL regular season, the postseason award selection process is in high gear.

One of the most difficult decisions this year will be who receives the NFL MVP award.

There are many excellent candidates and each one of them has good reason to be named the league’s most valuable player.

Of course, looking back at the past two decades, the award has typically been given to a quarterback.

In fact, going back to the early 1970s, the award has overwhelmingly gone to quarterbacks, along with a smattering of running backs.

The lone exceptions were in 1982 and 1986 when kicker Mark Moseley and linebacker Lawrence Taylor, respectively, won the MVP.

Looking at the top ten candidates for this year’s award, no fewer than eight quarterbacks are on the list.

While it seems inevitable that the award will, again, be given to a signal-caller, the voters should take a hard look at someone else, Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.

Why Kupp Deserves Strong Consideration

Ever since entering the NFL as a third-round selection in 2017, Kupp has consistently done well.

Except for an injury-shortened 2018, his reception numbers have been some of the best in the league.

Since 2019, Kupp has caught over 90 passes each year.

This includes a career-high of 138 receptions (and counting) this season.

Not only does Kupp lead the league in receptions this year, but he also leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,829) and receiving touchdowns (15).

Each statistical category is part of the “triple crown” of NFL receiving numbers.

Even more impressive, Kupp has a chance to break a few of the triple-crown records in Week 18.

Currently, Michael Thomas leads the NFL all-time in receptions during a season with 149.

Former Lions receiver Calvin Johnson is the all-time leader in receiving yards in a season with 1,964.

Randy Moss holds the all-time record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 23.

Realistically, Kupp could catch Johnson in 2021’s final week.

He only needs 135 yards to break the record (he surpassed that total twice this year).

It would also be fitting since Kupp’s LA quarterback, Matthew Stafford, was the one who passed to Johnson in 2012 to help him get the record.

Kupp would need 12 receptions in Week 18 to break Thomas’ record.

He has hauled in 10 or more receptions in a game five times this year.

In Week 14, Kupp had 13 catches against the Cardinals.

However, unless the San Francisco defense decides not to show up for this weekend’s game, Kupp will not catch Moss’ record.

MVP Caliber Year

Regardless of whether he gets one or two of the records, Kupp’s numbers are MVP caliber.

He recently noted that he wouldn’t feel right if he broke the records during a 17-game season.

“What those guys did in 16 games, it wouldn’t seem right to, I don’t know, for those to be broken in 17 games,” Kupp said.

However, the NFL doesn’t work that way.

If a player reaches a milestone during a league-recognized season, it doesn’t matter how many games are played.

In fact, Cowboys defensive back Trevon Diggs (11 picks) has a chance to break Dick “Night Train” Lane’s single-season record of 14 interceptions.

Lane accomplished the feat in 1952 when the NFL played only 12 games.

In other words, Kupp shouldn’t feel bad about breaking records in a 17-game season.

It’s still the regular season.

His triple-crown numbers are rare.

Only three players in the Super Bowl era have achieved the feat, Jerry Rice (1990), Sterling Sharpe (1992), and Steve Smith (2005).

That fact alone should catapult Kupp to the top of the MVP list.

I mean do you think if the Rams had defeated the Packers that Stafford would still lead despite all of the bad Int’s he’s had recently? Count Tennessee, Minnesota, Baltimore, and San Francisco.

I think Brady would lead. Kupp should lead but he’s not a QB so we know it’s unlikely.

I think so.

He's between Brady and Rodgers but would have beaten both head to head.

As for Kupp, he will be OPOY

The Rams oline and McVay's play calling in the second half cost him 2 records.

His performance on the drive that gave the Rams the lead in the 4th was true superstar shit.

3 biggest reasons Rams WR Cooper Kupp deserves legit MVP consideration

In the century-long history of the NFL, a wide receiver has never won the league’s Most Valuable Player Award (MVP.) There have actually been more kickers to win the MVP award than there have been wide receivers and that’s not going to fly around here. While kickers might be people too, they are not more important than a wide receiver to a team in any context. They get 4-5 times per game at max to impact the score. A wide receiver can affect the game on every single offensive play with his catching, blocking, and route running. In this article, I will break down the three biggest reasons why Los Angeles Rams superstar receiver Cooper Kupp should be the 2021 NFL MVP and not Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers AKA “Mr. Covid-Toe.”

3. He is the Fantasy Football MVP
When fantasy football managers all summer long were passing on Cooper Kupp, Rams fans were just sitting back and collecting him in the middle rounds and have reaped the benefits. In 16 games so far this season, Kupp has 138 catches, 1,829 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns–all first in the NFL. He is also in range to break the all-time single-season receptions and receiving yards records but we won’t count that towards his candidacy because he has had the benefit of the 17th game on the Rams’ schedule while the previous record holders either had 16 or 14 games played. Still, the numbers are astronomical and they speak for themselves; they are saying one thing, three words, shortened to three letters as an easy acronym….M….V…P!

2. He is having one of the greatest seasons for a WR of all-time
As mentioned earlier, Kupp is on pace to set a few records on sheer volume… but he is also getting up there on the average records as well, which would be even more impressive. He is on pace for the tenth most receiving yards per game in NFL history, and he is averaging the second most catches per game in any season of all-time. Kupp also is having a better overall season than any of the predecessors that could have claimed the best-receiving season of all time before him. Those two were San Francisco 49ers wideout Jerry Rice’s 1995 season and Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson’s 2012 season. In Rice’s, he had 1,848 yards and 15 touchdowns in 16 games but that came with just 122 receptions (compared to 138 for Kupp) and therefore way fewer first downs for his team. Kupp has 15 touchdowns through 16 games to go along with 1,829 yards and the aforementioned 138 catches. As for Johnson, he may have the most yards of any season of all-time (1,964), but he trailed Kupp by 16 catches–just like Rice–and came away with just six touchdowns for the season.

1. He is not a smug, arrogant anti-vaxxer
This one may seem like it’s a little bit of an off-the-wall statement to make, but it cannot be understated. The current “favorite” to win the NFL MVP award is Rodgers, who cost his team a game earlier this season when he tested positive for COVID-19. That wouldn’t be that bad, except for the fact that Rodgers, as you probably heard by now, lied to the general public in an attempt to skimp through the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols by saying he was “immunized” against COVID when in reality he had only taken advice–and horse medicine–from a former reality tv host. That is not an MVP, that is a liability–one that just happens to be good at football– and to be completely honest, he should be this good considering he is set up with one of the best coaches, running games, and wide receivers in football.

Kupp for MVP.

Kupp for MVP.

So glad this MVP is on our team. Without him I don't think we make the playoffs, or win either of these games. Sooo clutch. Stafford is great, Akers is great, so maybe that's a strike against Kupp's case, but didn't Rogers also have players around him? Honestly, put Kupp on the Jags & they go to the playoffs. He is that great of a difference maker in this league.

And yes, he's humble, but other than that Point #1 is pretty useless IMO.

This is why we should include post season for mvp candidates. In 2 wins, Kupp has been way more important to the rams success than Rodgers was in his one loss. And we're talking about playing the best teams in the league at this point.

Kupp will dominate against the niners but his 3 monster games with great impact will mean nothing even though Rodgers played like shit in one playoff game.

I think Kupp is the MVP.

First off winning the triple crown of receiving is incredibly difficult to do. In the history of the league only 11 players have done it prior to Kupp. And of those 11 five of them were achieved by Don Hutson in the 30s and 40s. It's so hard to do that basically doing it is like pre-listing yourself as a Hall of Famer.

Secondly I think this ridiculous fucking dependency on QBs has to stop. This award should be a measure of how important you are for your team compared to each other player to his team. Is anyone more important to their team than Kupp is to the Rams? If you remove him from this team we are done in the same way the Packers would be done by losing Rodgers.

Thirdly it's weird for a WR to get to this level of importance to a team. WR is that position that doesn't really translate into winning championships. Fans all clamor for a #1 WR who can beat a top corner, but it's so much easier to simply build a WR roster by depth of matchup which is what McVay has always done. It is straight fucking strange to see a WR dominate like Kupp has. Generally the guys who do it are also freaks, and Kupp is a bit different in that he's a great athlete sure but he's no Moss. There are a lot of other WRs better than him in measurables but he puts it all together in a hell of a package.

Lastly has there ever been a more team-first kind of guy who personifies what a team is about? I mean Kupp is up there with Jerry Rice in that way IMO. Rice was class. I couldn't even hate the guy and goddamn I wanted to. He outworked everyone else. He knew more about the scheme than everyone else, was always more prepared than the other guy. And he was the heart and soul of a great offense. Kupp is so similar to Jerry IMO, yeah he's a bigger and more physical guy but both got where they are on determination and hard work.

Just do the right thing and give the man the trophy already.

Reason #4 - He is what the NFL should be promoting as the type of player that represents the best of what the NFL offers.

I don’t think Coop will win it and I truly don’t think he wants the publicity/pressure it will put on him should he win it but he makes everyone in Rams nation proud and excited he’s on our team.

I really do think Kupp deserves MVP. He won't win because the voters have been brainwashed into thinking its a QB award. But guy impacts every play he's in on offense. I mean he even blocks well on run plays! I even saw a play last night where Kupp ran a fake lead block on a misdirection play, and the defense fell for it! Most Receptions, Most Receiving Yards, Most Receiving Touchdowns, and blocks on run plays. He is the most valuable player on our team and in the NFL. It shouldn't even be a debate.
