How can we be so sure Whitworth is retiring?
Never know just how this AW saga will end.

If the Rams have 3 OL UFA's starters depart for other teams as I expect there would be some $$$ for the repair job on the OL & that's where AW might come back.

I was highly disappointed in the deficiency & absence of run blocking last night but I feel the lack of having enough good blocking TE's was the main issue. This 2021 OL was built to pass block for #9 & it did its job yesterday.

Yeah the run blocking really went to shit without extra help.

Why I bring up if Whit is retiring or not was because Nate Burleson said he talked to him after the game about retiring and Whitworth said he’s not so sure at this point.

They wouldn’t have to be concerned with losing three Olinemen if they had a rookie center named Creed on the line instead of a ninth grade sized WR on the IR. Unfortunately Allen will likely be the cheapest option of the three.

Down the stretch even the pass blocking of Corbett and Edwards was suspect at times. So maybe they’ll have a few on the roster to step in like AJ, Anchrum or Shelton.

He told Nate he wasn’t sure last night
And he told Eisen he couldn’t imagine coming back next year. The super bowl on top of the walter Peyton award is the perfect setting to walk away on.

I would be surprised if he comes back. In the moment of Super Bowl victory of course it is tempting to keep going and experience that again. But he is 40 years old and seems to be picking up injuries now. I suspect he retires. He has suggested as much many times already and seems to be a real family man. I'd love him back if he wants. He is still playing at very high level. I believe, at age 40, he was the NFL's highest graded pass blocker? :sur::sunglasses:

Yep, the utilization of priceless & now very rare two 2nd round selections on WR's Jefferson{2020} & TuTu Atwell {2021}at this point in time looks to be horrendously bad for Snead throw in Taylor Rapp{2019}.

Snead did a miraculous job @ acquiring Both Corbett & Edwards (two starting SB championship OG' for just using two 5th round draft selections who were trained & groomed to be OT's in college. Both are better @ pass blocking than run blocking. Corbett is a sure departure in mind he will get paid & end up starting on the left side of another team OL. Corbett will be a very good LG in the NFL years to come. Corbett playing @ RG post was not the best place for him.

David Edwards has one more season here. His frame & skills perfectly fit a swing OT not OG. If it were not for having RT's Rob Havenstein & Bobby Evans under contract, Edwards could start now @ RT.

I think it's a real possibility that Coach Carberry might end up moving the pass blocking over 6-6 Edwards to LT in OTA's. Even if Noteboom does return. Noteboom has a highly noticeable injury history for 3 straight NFL seasons (3 back to back to back straight IR events)is truly bad but it might cause Noteboom to be less desired in the FA'cy.

I believe that Alaric Jackson can be a good replacement starter @ LG and that Tremayne Anchrum is a good prospect to replace Corbett as a starter. Coleman Shelton will be our starting center.

Snead has done well in working up this future 2022 OL prospects.

Good insight. The second round picks have not been great. Some people in the NFL believe Snead is afraid to put it all on the line and make early picks and that’s why he plays the odds by trading back and collecting picks. We like to think about it as being realistic. But there is pressure in picking ‘the guy’. Incidentally my pick two years ago was Logan Wilson.

I forgot Edwards was still around. I totally agree on Noteboom and I think a tackle needy team outbids the Rams for his services. Edwards was a right tackle in college wasn’t he? I was thinking AJ would move to left. He was a left tackle in college wasn’t he? If Whitworth retires then yeah I’d like to see an open competition that includes Edwards at OLT.

I have no idea if Anchrum is any good. We haven’t seen him. AJ and Shelton looked good in spot duty and Joe looked good in pass pro when he got in the game. It will be interesting to see how things go.

On the other side of the ball we saw tweets that Miller will fully test free agency. At first I thought BS because he wanted to retire in LA. Then we hear Donald hinting at retirement. Could AD have told Miller that he’s done and that’s why Miller is going to test Free Agency?

The reason that we did not see any from Tremayne Anchrum after the 3rd preseason game as he tore up a knee & was IR'd as the regular season began. Rams have multi versatile Coleman Shelton, Joseph Noteboom, Alaric Jackson, Bobby Evans as the main 9 Ram Ol'ers Anchrum was way behind.

Yep, Alaric Jackosn was always a starting LT in college but he has the makings of a good run blocking LG too.

Might be that veteran Von Miller has seen his market value estimate where it's projected that he can easily secure another $22 million for the next 2 seasons if he were to go elsewhere. He will not get that as a Ram.

Snead/Morris must hope that Justin Hollins is ready to start in place of Von Miller. Terrell Lewis is a nonfactor @ OLB'er for this Ram fan. It's possible that Og Okorinkwo might be a cheaper FA than we think. His injury history which is bad might keep him from signing a big contract elsewhere Og might resign cheap for a chance to start.

I wonder how much Snead can recoup from the Awarded Compensation Draft selections from Miller signing a big contract? If Miller were to signal $11 million a yr that should be a 4th rd pick in 2023 right?:bueller:

I think a lot of those 2nd round misses were simply, Les had his eye on a guy who got taken just before our pick & decided to settle on the next guy on his big board for that position. I know he was looking at a different, bigger KR/PR/WR kid who got picked just before ours, so he settled on Atwell. Wish he woulda just moved away from the WR/KR position & just picked Creed then, but just thankful that Allen worked out. "Need" picks like this usually don't pan out well.

Overall though, Les has done an amazing job building a quality roster that overperforms at every level. It's what you want in a team, especially in a long, now-17 game season, quality depth behind all-star level players in case any one of them go down.
