Parsons will be head up over Jackson the whole game I think. Higbee will have to be on that side helping out. I expect a huge day for Higbee because he can drift out into the zone voids after he chips on the edge.
I thought they've been moving Parsons around even more because of injuries to the LB corps?

I hope McVay puts that into the game plan. Too often he ignores the TE.

Rams have been putting WR or TE into motion as lead blockers for a while now. Regardless of what the OL is running. They've had Skow for example on outside zone runs.

So much of this stuff comes back to OL execution and performance. And since OL come out of the draft in droves now without the expertise they'd have in the old days, that OL coaching is more paramount than ever. I mean for example everyone talks about the Patriots not being good because they don't have Brady. But I think Scarneccia, their long time OL coach, was a crucial part of their annual excellence. If you have a top OL coach who isn't interested in being hired away as a coordinator you're sitting on a gold mine.

Or you can go the other route and tie up your OL knowledge in your head coach like KC does with Reid. But more and more OL coaching and teaching expertise is one of the most important elements for winning organizations.

I think maybe Tice is pointing out specifically the TE/WR motion on Duo which I never really saw or heard us doing till this year. Most of the motion I saw in years past was with outside zone.

It would be nice if they could re-sign Dotson on a reasonable deal.
I wouldn't require the Rams to lowball him here. If they think he can be trusted to not put his feet up then get it done. There's a lot of risk I think with him, and he worries me almost as much as Boom did. But there's also reason to expect him to play well under a big contract. The guy loves the right side, he does a great job in our scheme, and what is he going to look like with a camp under his belt with these other dudes.

And the attraction of our OL starting the 2024 season hot right out the gate instead of requiring six or more games to warm up is very strong. So fuck it. I've fully come around on him and I am completely ignoring that voice in my head.

Never been an offensive lineman, but I have to believe that so much of the success of an O-Line is dependent on continuity, and trusting those around you. I don't advocate ever overpaying for any player, but at some point in time, the front office needs to take a few chances and make the right calls on some of these extensions.

Dotson has been playing WAY above his talent level in this system. Not sure why exactly, but boy, this O-Line is something else. And Noteboom, he's a conumdrum for sure, but he has shown the ability to fill in all over the line without dropoff.

The Rams pro personnel department have like Dotson since they watched him in his rookie year. So, despite him not being a good fit in Pittsburgh, they saw something that they liked. (per an article in The Athletic).

I also recall his comments earlier this year about the difference between Tomlin and McVay. He said Tomlin pushes real hard to get the best out of you, while McVay is more of a positive motivator. That could be a part of Dotson's success. Some people don't do as well if they are pushed too hard. So maybe he is just happier being a Ram. It's also possible that the trade, and prior to that, being benched, was a wake up call for him.

Him and Jackson are two fucking nasty big boys out there on the left. :fistbump1::part:
Remember 5 weeks ago how Oldbutnotdead yet was saying Alaric Jackson wasn’t a NFL starting LT! - LMAO !!

How good is Les Snead(scouting) & Sean Mcvay(coach(s)ing) ?

You’re talking a UDRFA !! The difference though has been The Rams first pick of 2023 Steve Avila.

Jackson has been on an absolute hot streak these past 5 weeks or so. He's playing as well as some very prominent names out there.

Starting to think what the Rams do here is play Jackson at LT under that RFA status with a 2nd to 3rd round dev OT from the draft behind him.

Then go straight BPA in round one.
