It was his dad's name (and his dad also went by the same nickname his kid gets called here). So technically, he's Chatarius Atwell II. I mean, English names change, much like the English language changes. I'm not going to mock names unless they're purposely done to gratify the parents while humiliating the child. Chatarius is not one of those names.
My granddaughter had two friends down the street, one boy and one girl named Famous and Fantastic. Needless to say they adopted nicknames.

Yeah but Chatarius is too formal - I would still have to call him by something if he didn't go by Tutu

I was just responding to Memento stating about calling him Chaterius - that it isn't hard to say

Sorry - too formal

I mean, I get formality, but I just...I just can't get behind the nickname, and I've never felt like those names are hard to say.

Dotson was on the verge of being cut by the Steelers. Will his services really be that much in demand?

One game doesn't tell the story, but if Dotson continues to play as well as he did against the Colts, then I'd certainly try to re-sign him before he hits free agency. Chemistry with his fellow team-mates & coaching may be the difference between Pittsburgh & the Rams. Look at how Austin Corbett reacted after coming here from Cleveland ...

Or look at Elon Musk's latest names for his kids. Just...I feel terrible for those kids. The parents have a right to have unique names, but they don't have a right to embarrass the kids with their names.

Noteboom gave up 4 pressures, nearly 6. If you believe in PFF grades his run blocking grade was very low. They gave him a 30.5 while nobody else scored below 60 in run blocking. Maybe it was having to transition back to left tackle, but run blocking hasn’t been his strength there.
I think he's gotten stronger than he used to be for sure but power has always been his weakness. It is his physicality that is lacking. He's a technique guy with solid feet for LT IMO. If he could stay healthy I think he might be a decent LT, hard to say because you'd have to see him for a full schedule with different types gameplanning him.

What surprised me is how good he looked at RG. Though if Doctson continues what he just did that might be in question. Thing with Doctson though is that he was inconsistent for the Steelers so we should consider sample size here.

You could also say Boom claimed the LT spot with an excellent outing.
I thought Boom had a great outing until i rewatched the game last night and drilled down into the Oline. I counted 5 pressures Boom gave up, not counting his holding where he got beat. PFF counted 4. So, he was beat at least 5-6 times. His run blocking was also subpar.

Boom is a solid bakckup tackle or guard in my book, but not as consistent as what Jackson has shown so far.

Boom can have really good games at times, this just wasn’t one of them.

Excellent? Noteboom allowed 6 pressures. He was lucky he didn't have a Hendrickson lined up across from him like Thomas 11...

Is Noteboom lightyears better than Thomas at LT? Yes

Is he the best LT on the roster? No
Dotson allowed a pressure as well.

I was simply pointing out if one game was all ot took to claim a starting job Boom did it as well. Fortunately McVay won't do that he has a lot of game and practices to make his decision.

Good point on sample size!

Jackson and Boom can struggle at times and other times flash plus starter games.

Dotson was very good vs the Colts but his history in Pitts suggest he might not be that solid every week.

If he's smart he'll do what the affluent British did for centuries: send their kids away to boarding schools that instill discipline and challenge them. I think for rich kids that's almost a requirement to avoid them becoming entitled wastrels.

Agreed. Coaching, surrounding cast and scheme might be better for Dotson. We will see.

Again, one game does not a sample size create. We already k own McVays opinion of Boom is vastly different from RODs.

One games isn't likely going to change the "best 5" that coach has cited countless times.

I get it most on this site dislike Boom. Most on this site will bench him at any time for any reason, even when they will excuse others for the same faults

We always say what we'll do and rarely do we weigh that against what coach will do even when he talked all camp about the "best 5" playing. That said if Jackson is healthy I think k we go back to him at LT and Boom at RG.

Sounds like you have a lot of anxiety around this issue.

Dotson may be taking to the coaches and system better. He looked good in both blocking techniques.

What I said above. I’ll add that knowing he was possibly going to be cut by the Steelers may have been a wake up call.

I’m not dumping on Boom… but I am saying what we saw out of Dotson was significant.
And Jackson has been a better LT.

This is less a “Boom is bad/frail” thing for me than it is we may actually have better options.

Given that I'm deadnamed a lot by my own family? Yeah, I do have anxiety about names being "hard to learn".

I agree with that, but some of the names are ridiculous. "X AE A-XII Musk", "Exa Dark Sideræl Musk", and "Techno Mechanicus "Tau" Musk" are the names of three of his children. You can't tell me that those names aren't going to be embarrassing enough for those kids.

Again, how many times have we heard McVay said best 5 and included Boom in that when nobody here was doing the same?

One game might be enough to change ROD's mind, especially if you haven't looked at what he did in Pittsburgh, but is it enough to change McVay's?

Jackson has been given the starting LT job and gotten injured twice. He has just as much questionable tape for 2023 as Boom, less since he missed a game to injury actually.

I for one don't dislike Noteboom, but all our players should be evaluated based on value to the team. Noteboom carries a CAP hit of $20 Mil. for 2024, Havenstein's will be $14.7 Mil. Is Notebooms cost better used next year if the Rams have young players ready to step up while reducing our overall CAP costs and potentially provide additional funding for 2024 free agent acquisitions. If Noteboom can stay healthy and continue to play well, he may be one of only a few that has some trade value.

I get what you’re saying and it’s a good point that Mcvay had Boom at RG as one of the starting 5.

But it could have been because Dotson was brand new and didn’t know the system yet, when game 1 rolled around. Dotson had been here what a week or two?

Also I get your point about the bigger picture of a players historical performances and others getting beat as well. But in Dotsons case he was significantly better in the run game than Boom has ever been. Mcvay clearly wasn’t trusting his run game vs Cincy and has mentioned getting stronger inside. So I would bet my money Dotson stays at RG if he holds up well vs Philly.

For the record I am a bigger Boom supporter than most here. I am just pointing out he gave up at least 5 pressures which wasn’t good vs Indy. The other Olineman, none gave up more then 1 pressure.
