Would be nice, otherwise this draft was a complete fail. Not that Ferguson won't be good down the road, but this is the year. Right? Maybe Stafford's last year and certainly even if coming back next year, he will probably be a little more diminished and even more likley to have injury issues.

So if Ferguson and Hunter are not going to contribute, then why draft them? Schrader could have been the #3 RB, and Allen & Parkinson back up Higbee. Maybe draft a TE later to be #4 TE. Heck, Redmon could be #4 and sit on the bench for the year.

They could of spent those two picks on OL depth & a potential starting CB. Maybe even 2 CBs. Players in those positions might have even made a difference last week.

Point is, maximize resources for this season, as this is the year they have a great shot at a ring. Hopefully Ferguson gets ramped as the season goes along...maybe even Hunter gets used, maybe goal line, short yardage. If they don't, then that will be very disappointing.
Quite frankly, I think I'd be more disappointed if the team treated the draft that way. That is, banking on rookies.

It’s not like we are stacked at TE, and Ferguson can’t get any touches?

He’s a 2nd rounder.
Allen has done a great job blocking thus far this season. But yeah we could really use another big target over the middle to lessen the load on Nacua. Especially in the redzone.

Agree, but with Higs banged up this week, not sure they will feature him much (not like they did before he was hurt). Maybe a few plays for Ferg? If nothing else, the home crowd would go bananas.
That would be a good sign to see Ferguson on the field, finally.
The Rams should also remember Allen, who has scored 2 red zone TDs already. They forgot him last week.

Understood, and I would normally agree with that. However, I think this is a unique year by adding Adam's and maybe it being Stafford's last year and then the current state of the team, which is that it is ready to contend. So I think this year you had to maximize the impact of the draft class for this year.

OK, but to maximize the impact of the draft (while banking on rookies) would involve being able to see into the immediate future of what was seen as a deep roster.

Witherspoon and the Guards stay healthy and we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. Higbee and Kyren get hurt instead (while Henderson stays healthy) then they would be seen as maximizing the impact of the draft class.

Yeah, I can see that in regards to RB, although Schraeder and Rivers can be a suitabke #3 & #4. Also, CB was thin to start with, especially a CB with size. Only Whiterspoon has any size, whereas TE was 3 deep, and he doesn't seem to use them anyway.

Appears that the Rams disagreed with CB being thin which might further help explain the draft decisions.

Even prior to Witherspoon's injury, McVay kept saying that the team had 4 starters at CB.

And if D'Marco Farr is correct, based upon comments he made during one of the preseason radio broadcasts, they are high on the practice squad CB A.J. Green, who is about Witherspoon's size.

Yeah, they definitely thought that...how did that work out Sunday though? McVay isn't infallible, and I think he is a great coach, but nobody is perfect.

I was surprised that they didn't elevate Green. The little guys just couldn't match up with Brown physically. At times they were right there in coverage, but they looked like 8th graders trying to tackle a senior.

Our corners are just guys. Plain and simple. No amount of the Rams convincing themselves otherwise is going to change that.

It would be different if Durant and Forbes were rooks or going into their second years. But they know the drill by now and they are what they are. Which is forgettable types you have to complement the stud or two who hold it down.

Nothing against Spoon, who I truly appreciate. But he's a seasoned vet corner who is limited to large extent due to his athleticism. Ideally he'd have a better corner taking and travelling with the toughest draws. The fact these guys fall apart when Spoon isn't around, and in spite of having an elite rush in front of them, tells the story.

McVay as per usual is completely full of shit when it comes to discussing players openly. To get it straight you'd need to sit in his office with the door closed, and he'd probably need to trust you. Then you'd hear some shit. Because I guarantee he knows what our corners are, and if not then his secondary coaches are letting him down.

They keep signing the guy and then they forget about him. There are some things I just don't get with McVay, you got guys with talent but you forget them.
I wonder how much they are using his speed as a scout type player for certain matchups?

And to be honest, his usage this year has to be related to the health of the oline. We need time to throw deep...but also have been using guys so much to fill in on the run game and blocking schemes - even if he's willing to get in there and block....he's likely to just get run over.

BTW, the defending SB champs have two rookies starting and playing well. So not sure why we couldn't have utilized our picks in areas of specific needs. And yes they tell us CB wasn't a need, but I would be dissapointed if they actually believed that.
