Sounds like they might be changing their name as well
I think the Chargers go, because if they do not, the Raiders will. I do not believe Spanos has any other choice. The only way the Raiders are going to Vegas is if the Chargers actually move to LA, in my opinion. There will be no football team in Oakland or San Diego within the next three years. The NFL could not have come up with a worse slogan than "football is family" with all of these teams moving.Keep in mind that at this point,
THIS IS ALL PROCEDURAL.
The Chargers have the right of first refusal as per Kroenke's deal to be able to move in the first place.
Spanos is merely locking out the Raiders and keeping the LA option on the table.
They have to do this because the Raiders have zero options currently to stay in Oakland and the league just concluded a meeting about Oakland.
It's still possible they move, but if they do, I expect it to be ugly...
Spanos had to make this announcement now because of League rules in regards to Teams moving.
I am pretty sure it is a done deal. They have already changed their Facebook page to "Los Angeles Chargers".Spanos had to make this announcement now because of League rules in regards to Teams moving.
I sure hope this NEVER happens! I hate Spanos, and I think this will turn out to be just another ploy on his part!
Spanos is just too cheap to try and come up with the money on his own to build a Stadium! He wants California/San Diego Tax payers to foot-the-bill! That aint going to happen!
When Spanos starts building a practice facility I'll believe he really intends to move!!
Atleast the Chargers committed to playing second fiddle in LA by choosing that boring logo!
Lots of empty seats in the last few games.
I don't feel bad for San Diego. They are a 2 hour drive away, 8 games a year. They didn't move 2000 mile away.Feel for the San Diego fans, had a soft spot for the Chargers and could relate to them having a crappy owner during the Frontierre days. What initially looked like a steady decline for the NFL feels like this is going to be steep. I hope every owner loses profitability for the recent decisions they made the past few years. Mark Cuban's right, this is an unsustainable model; I hope the NFL loses it's nonprofit status in the near future.
Hmmmm.....freaking retarded. Fix your own damn stadium before you start moving cities. And maybe put a half way decent product on the field and you might get more of a crowd to show up. freak off, NFL.
According to what I read and heard about the Rams move, if Jerry Jones gets behind it, it happens.I do think the owners are going to lean hard on Spanos to stay put, but I just don't know how hard they can lean.
This was my first thought... leverage used for one last try at SD to step up to the plate.I believe it is a good thing for Rams fans. This move puts more revenue into the LA Stadium AND applies more pressure to the Rams to field a competitive team or risk losing business to Chargers.
Of course he does. Obviously, he doesn't get the revenue he does when the Rams ply, but I suspect every Sunday the Bolts play, he'll be able to afford a nice steak dinner!Kroenke wins either way. If he cannot field a competitive team with the Rams, at least he will make money off of the Chargers.

I don't think that is the case... my guess is (as some have mentioned), this option had already been set as part of the Rams going to LA.I wonder what happens if Jerry decides LA should be a one team town.
