1. The refs called some ticky tack BS imo and it was on more than one occasion. Plus, the Cheats left tackle constantly blocking Verse in the back with no calls was questionable. Thats legal away from the QB or play but not when it’s a pass rusher going after the Qb.
2. It took too long to start running left.
3. The Rams do not trust their DBs and it’s justified. But that prevent defense allows those underneath passes all day. Two tight end sets worked better for protecting Stafford.
4. Sacks lay calling against the overloaded fronts was not ideal. It’s like 2018-19 all over again. McVay needs an answer to that instead of risking Stafford taking a hit.
It took a while but the offense finally got untracked. Was good to see. Stafford with 4 TD's. A few off target throws but got better as the game went on.
Defense is becoming one of the better pass rushing teams. I'd like to see tighter coverage when quarterbacks are intent on quick passes. And maybe be a little smarter and avoid penalties. They had a few drives extended by penalties.
After Karty's really bad miss from around 20 yards I'm thinking we still haven't gotten our kicking game solved. That could be a problem down the road. McVay's not gonna trust him when its a 50 yard plus attempt. Because they used a draft pick on him I'm sure he will have a longer leash than a free agent vet who bounces from team to team. I just hope he becomes that guy we need. Field goals over 50 yards are nice, but give me a guy who is consistent up to 49 yards. And doesn't miss PAT's.

Both the O and the D have started games so poorly. Is it Xs and Os, the play calling, or is it the players not ready for the intensity of the opponent?

I don't recall McClendon taking over for Boom, I thought Acuri took over and got totally destroyed. I thought McClendon started the next game at LT but was absolutely terrible. I think McClendon is a good backup RT.

I was wondering which QB was the one that passed for four TD's today. From the way Sanchez was jawing about Maye all game, could have sworn it was him.....

Happy for the W! Too much drama though - it should have been a bit easier. Just as I had decided I was confident in Karty, he misses the shortest FG in the NFL this season. Plus the first two XPs before that did not inspire confidence.
Great scoring some rapid fire TDs just like a good offense should.
I didn't mind Stafford passing on the last drive, but it would have been easier to throw a short dart for a first down rather than taking the deep shot to Puka. But what a game for him otherwise. Limmer and McClendon seemed to work well on the OL.

Yeah, I guess I always look at the entire process of building a team. So while not ignoring this year, I am just realistic in that they have a few killer weaknesses/issues that will prevent them for doing much.
One issue was health that caused the 1-4 start that they are trying to overcome. The other is a weak CB group. A third is just their inexperience throughout the roster. Lastly, the lack of an explosive offensive player that opposing teams fear and have to gameplan for, and who could take pressure off of Nacua/Kupp.
So yeah, I am looking at the big picture and this season is just a peice of a 3 yr plan that started last year with the retooling after the 22' collapse.
Fair enough. Havenstein was injured for the Lions game, and McClendon played every snap on the right side then. I was wrong on that because I completely forgot about Arcuri (honestly, the most forgettable terrible player we have; has he ever done anything worthy of note?). McClendon still faced down a heavy Detroit pass-rush on the right side, and considering the elite pass-rush Detroit has, I thought he did okay. He got beat, but everyone gets beat against Detroit.
He started the next game, the Arizona game. Everyone was terrible in that game; I can barely recall a single thing we did right.
I think he's a good backup RT as well, with the potential to be a bit more. He's obviously not a left tackle (but then again, we don't have a left tackle other than A-Jax right now), but when Havenstein eventually retires, I think McClendon could step in and do a good job.

If the coaches could trust the pass coverage, matching it with man press coverage makes more sense with the Rams pass rush. But they can’t trust the coverage and teams continually through underneath and move the chains. I don’t think the coaches have much of a choice.
See above, but I do agree to an extent. The slow starts extend especially to the Offensive line.
It’s strange because in the second half of the season last year they were scoring early and often. They almost always score a TD on the opening drive.
I was thinking how good he would look as a ram.
Celebration thread!!! I am celebrating a Rams win, a niner loss, a real good young defense, a healing OL, a head coach....the winningest in Rams history....who does smart things despite the criticism that he gets. Passing when he should run, punting when he should try a long FG. Gotta love a good weekend.
