I love arriving at the airport there and immediately being hit with the ocean breeze and that unique scent of the flowers. Such an incredible place.

Had to laugh at Puka talking up McDonalds musubi and portugese sausage breakfast. He has the money now to partake in some of the great restaurants now too.

Very cool though for the team to get to enjoy the islands. Well done by Kroenke and all involved.

When I was in the Nav we used to call officers "Zeros".
They were a lot like Den. Book smart but they could be a little spacey with their common sense.
I'd never smoked any weed regularly until I joined the Navy.
It used to be you could walk into the barracks at my Naval Air Station and it reeked like weed.
Nobody seemed to care until there was a jet crash on a carrier.
When they piss tested everybody involved every one of them had marijuana in their system, including the O pilot.
That started a big crack down on weed smoking.
They started piss testing everybody and using dogs to go through their barracks etc.
This is soul surfers latest episode of "Too Much Information".

I was in from 76 to 80. just before Reagan and the piss tests.
I was in a squadron from Whidbey Island WA. When not at sea we smoked from wake up to bed time. Our base line was stoned, so they really couldn't tell until one of us left a pipe on the pilot seat for the pilot to find on walk thru. LOL. I hated the Navy, but damn we made the best of it.

Btw when I was a wee youngun, and long before I volunteered myself, I was on probation and made to piss in a bottle quite frequently. Back in those days if you were pissing clear you would pass the test. Good thing too. I'll always be thankful to the unsung bastard who let me know you could beat that test that way.

Though I feel the need to say that from my oath on I never touched the stuff. All my damage was done prior and afterwards.

My brother was stationed there and loved it.
My ship did an around the world cruise and we were supposed to pull into Pearl but our Captain was a former submariner and was nervous because it was a little stormy. So he got on the PA system and announced we are going straight through to Panama. You can hear screaming all over the ship. After that we referred to our ships captain as "Captain Beno". As in there will "be no" liberty in Hawaii.
