Something wasn't kosher concerning Cam Akers, so while I'd like to see him stay, we as fans deserve to know what this was all about. It's just totally weird!!!

I also thought it was crazy to let Henderson go...and I'm not sure what that was about either.
I don't believe "we deserve to know" but we'd certainly like to know. I like that they keep shit in the locker room. I would guess, Akers being 'sent home', Henderson being released, T.Brown going back to coaching RBs are all interconnected. Just come out next year running like you did the last 5 games of 2022 (**with a legit NFL QB)!!!

87 att, 452 yds, 5.2 avg, 4 TDs, 10 rec, 99 yds, 9.9 avg.....extrapolated over 17 games = 1536 yds rushing, 13 TD, 336 receiving yards.

What does that mean to the Rams members in here posting that a 320-plus pound LT Joe Noteboom will be ready to go when the 2023 season begins?
That we may have a starting LT for a week or two before he gets hurt? :laugh4:

Yeah I am sure the storyline would be entertaining. We might not know the details but clearly Samples was in over his head running the personalities off the field, as well as in preparing them for games and selecting who should be up and on the field at any given time during games.

I'm still pissed that they spent so much time and effort trying to shoehorn Henderson's silly ass in there at RB when it was clear this offense needed a ground option to settle shit down. That IMO was McVay's biggest failure for this season, particularly because it came on the heels of years of them seeing Henderson was not that guy.

But anyway. All's well that ends well I suppose. Whatever happens here's hoping we get better run game coordination next year and a depth chart that is actually designed to sustain an NFL season.

10. ROSCHON JOHNSON, TEXAS (SENIOR | 6-2, 222)

  • 2022 Grade: 81.6
  • Play Style: Power Back
  • Initial Round Projection: Early Day 3
Playing second fiddle to the No. 1 running back on this list could not have been easy for a player as talented as Johnson, but he still brought it every single time he touched the rock. While he’s a little high cut at 6-foot-2, Johnson has a knack for taking away his plant leg just before contact, leaving defenders nothing solid to hold onto. It’s why he has the highest broken tackle rate in the country over the past two seasons (85 broken tackles on 189 attempts).

8. KENDRE MILLER, TCU (JUNIOR | 6-0, 220)

  • 2022 Grade: 85.4
  • Play Style: All-Purpose Back
  • Initial Round Projection: Late Day 2
With former five-star running back Zach Evans transferring to Ole Miss last offseason, it was Miller’s time to shine for the Horned Frogs. And shine he did, to the tune of 1,342 yards on 216 carries (6.2 yards per carry) with 17 scores. He plays with an uncoachable tenacity that makes him unwilling to go down on first contact. For his career, he’s broken 109 tackles on 353 carries and averaged 3.8 yards after contact per attempt. While he’s nothing special athletically, Miller is more than athletic enough for a full-time role at the next level.

6. TANK BIGSBY, AUBURN (JUNIOR | 6-0, 213)

  • 2022 Grade: 82.5
  • Play Style: Jump-Cut King
  • Initial Round Projection: Day 2
Bigsby’s ability to plant one foot in the ground and immediately fire away in the opposite direction is second to none in the class. He has LeSean McCoy-esque lateral burst out of his cuts. It’s why Bigsby, playing behind the third-lowest-graded run-blocking offensive line in the SEC this past season, earned a 90.4 rushing grade with 60 broken tackles on 178 attempts for 976 yards and 10 scores.

Bigsby has been singlehandedly trying to prop up Auburn’s offense ever since his true freshman season when he broke 47 tackles on 138 attempts and averaged 4.0 yards after contact per attempt.

3. ZACH CHARBONNET, UCLA (SENIOR | 6-1, 220)

  • 2022 Grade: 91.5
  • Play Style: Bell Cow
  • Initial Round Projection: Early Day 2
Unlike some others on this list, there’s no physical trait or special skill set to really rave about with Charbonnet. Rather, there’s nothing he can’t do at the running back position. He has ideal size (6-foot-1, 220 points) paired with plus athletic tools and a complete unwillingness to go down on first contact. It’s why he averaged a ridiculous 4.15 yards after contact this season on 194 carries for 1,358 yards. He also showed well in the passing game with 37 catches for 320 yards and 15 broken tackles this season.

1. BIJAN ROBINSON, TEXAS (JUNIOR | 6-0, 220)

  • 2022 Grade: 95.2
  • Play Style: Offensive Focal Point
  • Initial Round Projection: 1st
Robinson's talent level is what many NFL offenses build around. Even the biggest running back haters here at PFF recognize the value he brings to the table. I wrote all about exactly why that is earlier this season. The SparkNotes version: He has ideal size, breaks tackles at a rate we’ve never seen and can pass as a wide receiver in a pinch.

Bijan is simply capable of things other running backs in this class can only dream of. The way he sinks out of his cuts is reminiscent of a race car banking around a turn. He finished with 104 broken tackles this season — a PFF college record.

They had Blake Corum ranked #2 and that's another kid who just refuses to go down, but he's returning to Michigan.

We have some good members here offering up similarities on a positive behalf of Noteboom between the early five seasons of Noteboom & first five seasons of Rodger Saffold.

But when you look at the numbers facts they are not close.

Rodger Saffold's first five seasons starts were 60 games
Joe Noteboom's first five seasons start with 19 starts plus 3 playoff games.

Ram cap funds invested in Noteboom the Rams Org. are enmeshed to keep Noteboom here for the 2023 season at a cost of $15.5 million. So he will be here lurking around in PUP status for the majority of this upcoming season. Meaning Rams will need to have a healthy LT starter & back up LT ready for TC.

Question is where will that come from Alaric Jackson or from the draft? or from UFA in Ty Nsekhe?

I could have sworn it was a knee injury and not an Achilles.

If so, he is done for next year too
That remains to be seen. When TC begins it will be only 8 months or so since his surgery.

But as it was pointed out in the above post discussing NFL players who have had this type of injury....... some players take 2 seasons to fully recover, some are never the same & others do come back to the same level as before after a longer period of time.

Personally, I don't have a dog in this fight (LT).

On the comparison of Saffold/Noteboom:

Safford was the #33 pick. Noteboom was the #89 pick. Clearly Saffold was the more polished player coming into the NFL. Yet he was failure at LT. He played (and started) many more games than Noteboom his first 5 years. But he was drafted to start immediately (and did) while Noteboom was drafted to be developed and take over when Whit retired. So they tried him as G in year 2. And though many say that was a failure, I disagree. He was injured, yes, but the Rams were averaging 28 PPG on offense the five weeks prior to his injury. Maybe he'll fade away or maybe he'll turn into a competent LT in year 6. How did Saffold do in year 6? He missed 11 games bringing his 6 year total to 31 (starts missed).

On the return from injury. Eric Fisher (not comparing talents, just injuries) blew out his achilles on January 24th, 2021, had surgery and started for the Colts on September 19th, 2021. He missed the first game, played 14 straight weeks before being inactive a week and returned for the final game. Was he effective? The Colts were #2 in rushing in 2021 and #9 in fewest sacks allowed. I would said, "probably".

But we'll have to wait and see what happens with Noteboom. Hopefully, he gets the same treatment as Akers.

I am wishfully hoping for a 2023 mid-season return to the team from PUP after the bye at the earliest.
I’m in agreement with that timeline for return but don’t expect t him to be back to what he was before the 24 season if ever.

To think otherwise is just silly & has no merit.

Something to consider here is Noteboom's performance before this exceptionally bad injury was poor. He had several games in relief of Whitworth as the starter in 2021 where his play was close to outstanding. But when you mix/blend in that with the overall 5 seasons' performances.... it's a bad resume as a whole.

Rams are forced to keep JN & Pay him his $15.5 million but I am sure they will be looking to dump him ASAP when the $$$$ hit is best for this team. Thus Rams will need a long-range plan for a good starting LT.....not an easy task!

Jackson will be here for 2 more seasons his best playing position IMO would be @ LG. Jackson may offer a good stop gap LT meantime. I would plab keeping Jackosn as our starting LG.

IMO Akers biggest issue was Pass Blocking. He got sat for the lack of & not being accountable.

Now I think he has bought into WE not ME!!

Whatever the O’Line looks like he needs to do it.
