By the way how do you know just how much of that situation was honestly reported. Doesn't it strike you as strange that the rest of his line mates backed Incognitos side of the story and thought he was scapegoated?
It's the same him. And for the most part the same fans. So the patience would be exhausted quickly.
I don't see bringing in a headcase who's going to commit lots of penalties, hasn't played football for a while, and doesn't know our line blocking schemes is going to help... at all. Which is why the Rams never bothered. It's one of those ideas that sound good in Madden where character and training camp preparation aren't issues, but not so good in real life.
Broncos are giving him a look because they'd still be totally okay if they signed him and he bombed terribly. We would not.
I don't think it's simply a matter of what he would WANT to do.
He strikes me as someone who is fundamentally wired wrong. At best, you might get him to not get caught hazing anymore. He's still going to be the penalty machine that we cut when we sucked worse than we do now.

Funny. We haven't heard any problems from Martin when he was traded away to San Fran, even with all of the shit they have going on in their locker room. Quite frankly, I believe that there's a lot of good reasons why he still has a job, while Incognito does not.
It would be fun to watch Peyton throw him off of the field after his third stupid penalty in a series.

The Broncos are desperate enough up front to take a look at a guy other teams won’t touch.
But they’re not sufficiently desperate to sign Richie Incognito today, after he visited and worked out for them.
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Broncos aren’t going to sign Incognito, at least not yet.
Part of the issue at the moment seems to be their upcoming schedule, as their next two games are against the Rams and Dolphins. Those are the teams he’s spent most of his NFL career with, and there’s no point in offering them any additional inspiration.
Taking a chance on Incognito would be a bold move at any time, since he’s been radioactive to NFL teams since his role in the Jonathan Martin bullying case, which led to his ouster from the Dolphins.

It just shows how desperate teams are for O line at this time of the year. I don't care about whatever he did in Miami, I don't want him because he's not very good anymore.

Funny? Why would either of those guys want to stir the pot anymore? Martin isn't going to cause trouble now. He could have millions riding on it. Besides Martin is under the wing of his Daddy coach. He ran back to where he feels safe because he knows crazy Jim will protect him. Is it not coincidnce that his old coach was the only NFL team willing to take a chance on Martin?
I'd wager that most teams didnt want him messing up their team chemistry. Again how do you take the word of one guy on Miamis Oline over the rest of the line? Richie is kooky and Miami scapegoated him to avoid further scrutiny. Incognitos intense personality just made it easier for them. The people in power write the script and most of the public falls in line.
At least if they sign him, he'd be good for a couple 1st downs this week. Of course nobody on the Rams would bait him into doing something stupid. He can do that himself.

OK, fair point. I hadn't considered the penalties had cut down.
Still, you're pushing really hard for a move that the Rams are NOT going to make. It'd be bad PR, possible risk of repeat behavior (and no, I don't buy that Incognito was just a goofy scapegoat, no matter how much Miami's players tried to deny there was a problem), for a rusty overrated guy who hasn't practiced in our scheme for a fanbase that would be ready to jump on him the first time there was even a holding penalty because of the history.
It's not happening. And there's good reasons it's not happening.

The fine folks at Deadspin (if I’m nice maybe they won’t call me an idiot when I deserve to be called an idiot) have raised an interesting question about the ongoing unemployment of Richie Igcognito: Why is his unemployment ongoing?

He became a free agent in March, and Incognito has received only limited sniffs in the eight months since.
In early August, Incognito said his agent has “had some nibbles.” Later that month, the Bucs brought Incognito in for a visit, at a time that a trade for Logan Mankins was being finalized. Earlier this week, the Broncos gave Incognito a look-see, possibly to get the attention of the team’s current complement of guards.
Incognito’s behavior, while unacceptable, really isn’t all that different than what some other football players have done over the years. For Incognito, the problem arose from the fact that former Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin ultimately reacted to the comments and conduct in a negative way. Otherwise, no one ever may have known about it.
Incognito has plenty of talent. As Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald pointed out during Wednesday’s edition of PFT Live, Incognito needs to be on a roster where he’s not expected or permitted to be a leader. With a team like the Broncos, Incognito would be held in firmly check by quarterback Peyton Manning.
As the postseason approaches, a team that views Incognito as the potential difference between advancement and elimination could decide to give Incognito a chance. For now, his inability to get a job shows how hard it will be for someone like Ray Rice to find another team, if/when he’s reinstated.

After working out for Broncos on Monday, Richie Incognito will have to keep looking. Denver, despite having a desperately thin offensive line, has decided to pass—for now—on signing the controversial-but-talented guard, who hasn't played in the NFL in over a year.
The Broncos are firing on nearly all cylinders, save their run game. They rank 25th in yards per attempt, and 26th in yards per game. They've been shuffling their O-line all season in attempts to address the obvious problems—just this past Sunday they moved All-Pro guard Louis Vasquez to tackle, center Manny Ramirez to guard, and started Will Montgomery at center for the first time this year. In short: they're desperate. And Incognito, if he can play anything like he did the last time we saw him, would be an upgrade.
But it's been a very long time since we saw Richie Incognito. He was suspended after last season's Week 8 after reports emerged of his harassment of teammate Jonathan Martin. The CBA only allowed for a four-game ban, but as more and more information came out, Incognito became increasingly toxic to the Dolphins, to they reached a deal to pay Incognito to sit out the remainder of the season. Finally, in February, the results of an NFL-commissioned independent investigation were released, and they showed Incognito to be a shithead of the highest order.
Except, this sport is full of shitheads. Abusers and bullies and harassers and just straight up bastards that no one can stand. And for the most part, all that comes a distant third place to how good you are at football. (Second place is how much you cost.) Incognito is, at least theoretically, still a good football player. At the time of his suspension, Pro Football Focus had him rated as the league's 13th best guard (out of 71).
Yet Incognito can't find a taker, despite a handful of teams kicking his tires from the moment he was reinstated in late August. This line, buried at the bottom of a Jay Glazer report, feels ominous:
Incognito visited the Chiefs and the Bucs this season and in both cases, each team got skittish after numerous calls from people inside the NFL were made and no deals were ever consummated.
Incognito's 31 now, but his redemption contract (prorated as it'll be) would come relatively cheap. He missed training camp and 10 weeks of the regular season, but he'd clearly be a pickup for the playoffs. He's a big dumb jerk, but he can't possibly destroy a locker room in the couple of months he'd have.
He'd have signed with a team long ago if not for last season's controversy, that's for sure. I'd even wager Incognito would have a job right now if not for Ray Rice and Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson, none of whose actions are in the same phylum as Incognito's, but all fall under the NFL's reactionary sensitivity designed to reclaim a moral high ground it never owned. If Incognito can't catch on with the Broncos—a playoff-bound team with a stable locker room, just a few moves shy of shoring up their one glaring weakness—it's hard to see him catching on anywhere.

makes me wonder what kind of shape he is in, both physically and mentally, not to have been picked up yet this year, since there is more than a handful of teams that could really use a road grader or 2 on their O-line
