A lot of position groups to watch this TC. For the OL it will be telling to see who is 2nd team. Last year Aleric Jackson was almost exclusivly behind Big Whit at LT. Same with Anchrum behind Havenstien at RT.

Those two started every pre-season game at LT and RT. I would think that shows who Carberry and McVay like as their backup Tackles. Of course they will mix thing up in TC, but when it comes time for pre=season games, the guys that start will be the leading guys for backup, since MVay will not play any of his startes in pre-season.
I would expect Bruss to be given the opportunity to start right away.....including pre season games.
If he can show decent pass blocking I think he will earn the starting RG spot as his run blocking should be an improvement over Shelton. Evans can be a force run blocking but just can't keep his feet pass blocking.
I have the starting line as Noteboom/Edwards/Allen/Bruss/Havenstein

I don't understand the hate Hav gets. He's a legit starter. Glad many here are not the GMs. I'd keep him on our team and wouldn't be surprised if and when the Rams re-sign him.
I've always liked Big Rob and agree. I actually posted back in 2020 he was underrated before the season started, but that year Havenstein had an ankle injury that limited his effectiveness and thus led to a subpar season, plus he was coming of an injury in 2019 where he missed 7 games.

Havenstein is now stepping up into the leadership role, plus other posters have actually met Big Rob's parents and communicated how awesome they are. Overall, it's a contract year for Havenstein and although the Rams will have some options next year, like David Edwards who is also in a contract, it will be interesting to see if Havenstein remains in horns because I certainly hope so.

IDK, they might have to make a choice to sign Edwards or Havenstein & Edwards is younger so I could see them extending him. If the do keep Edwards, he could be a candidate to move to RT, however, I agree, the draft would most likely produce another option for them too.
The Rams have not placed a priority on resigning interior lineman. Sheltons deals is a two year, small money deal. They probably would not have resigned him if he did not give them the flexability of playing all three interior spots.
If Havenstein plays well I would expect him to get resigned if the Rams don't have a viable replacement at RT. Edwards? Unless its a team friendly deal I would doubt they would resign a G.

Great read, though.

You should drink more coffee.

I'm looking forward to @BonifayRam replies.
Not so sure even I with my great lust :smilehearts:to discuss the Rams OL would want to mess up such a great solid read from the @den-the coach.

I will first have a few cups of Komodo Dragon Blend coffee :woozy:& rethink hard if there's a cherry needed on the top that "piece of work" that needs to be added.

What should enter the picture here on the choices of which of this two valuable SB-winning starters will be resigned is the great abundance of OT's signed & present on this roster in 2023 & the opposite side of a very empty lonely OG room without Edwards.

What kind of $$$ value is there for a UFA OT like Havenstein who started immediately as a rookie & has started in two Superbowls & highly likely to make it three SB's by the end of this season. Hav's Been the poster boy model of the NFL of professionalism. A wonderful human being & great all-around team player? ........"Priceless" really & very hard to afford for a team like the Rams when the purse strings tighten on the Ram cap $$$ future.

Some decisions sadly are already made for this team.......

The Rams future Salary Cap mandates that two former OL'ers Whitworth & Havenstein will receive salary cap funds paid out for services rendered while both were still Rams on their last contracts....Whitworth will get $3.3 million in 2022 & $2 million in 2023. Havenstein will get paid $2.3 million in 2023 after his contract ends plus the Rams will be paying Hav $$ millions to Havenstien until 2025 after he is long & gone.

Spotrac is so far off on its market value on Hav is laughable.

Age has to be factored in too, as there is 5 years difference between Havenstein & Edwards. Do the Rams extend Edwards and move him to RT for example, which means they will need to fill the LG spot or keep Edwards at LG and if A.J. Arcuri shows well, have him man the RT position. Either way decisions have to be made, they could just extend Big Rob, keeping the leadership in place and like Corbett leaving and adding a new Guard this year, do the same with Edwards next year. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Something I've been banging on about for a season and a half ... unfortunately, his status as a free agent next year likely reduces his future affordability.
jmo.
Not nearly as much as resigning an OT Rob Haventein who would be an 8 yr veteran of over 100 games started with several SB rings.
For me, the real enigma at RT is Max Pircher, is he the real deal or is he a phantom of sorts. Regardless, with or without Havenstein next year, there will be several competitors available to try to fill his position.
jmo.
From what I can find out on the 6-7 1/2 inch tall Max Pricher's roster status in 2022...is he will still remain in the same status as he was last season... Exempt/ Commissioner's Permission List.

These players on this status do NOT count towards Ram's 2022 active roster only their salary cap $$$ counts. So OT Max Pircher has the added benefit of remaining once again on the 2022 Practice Squad as an extra OL'er. If this information is correct then there's a very good chance will see him hanging around in the future OT(not OG) pursuits & objectives.

The point is if he continues to show improvements as Havensteins has gone on record stating after having the benefit of a full season with Whitworth/Havenstein as mentors he will be included in the 2022 OT cadre.

Ok, I'll just state facts on Hav. He allowed 7 sacks all year in 15 games he started in. He was also part of a line that was amongst the league best in protecting the QB. Not only that, he's one of our best run blockers. Here's a quote from our coach as well as a NFL expert weighing in on Hav, but I'm guessing they wouldn't know anything.

I respect and value McVay and Baldinger’s assessments. Therefore Havenstein (while not perfect) now anchors the Rams Right Side OL admirably at a reasonable price.

There was a window where I am sure the Rams at least considered moving Hav, though as someone pointed out that season might have been influenced by injury. But that's one of the benefits of signing a fair deal type contract, meaning something that isn't over the top. Rams were willing to allow him to work through his issues and emerge as a leader on the line. You can bet that if he was being paid something top of his position the chances of a move in that window would have been greater.

The Rams have been consistent in the expectation of players playing up to their contracts. This isn't a place you put your feet up once you get paid. This is a place you get paid and go to work and if they don't see that you're gonna be moved.

I'm not on the Max Pricher train as I still believe he's a novelty act. That could change when I see him play in preseason, but to this point, I don't count him to the roster.

This pains me to post this as my Grandson is being born today (daughter-in-law in labor) and will be named Maximilian Leopold as his Papa sets him up to be very Italian.

Noteboom, Edwards, Allen, Bruss and Havenstein backed up by
A.Jackson, Anchrum, Shelton & ?????????

Arcuri?
Brewer?
Kolone?
Ealy?
Evans?
Pircher?
Snyder?
Projected Starters
LT-Noteboom 27/5
LG-Edwards 25/4
OC-Allen 27/5
RG-Bruss 22/R
RT-Havenstein 31/8

Projected Game day reserve dressed OL'ers:
6th Swing - OC/OG Coleman Shelton 27/4
7th Swing - OT Alaric Jackson 24/2
8th OL'er- OT/OG Tremayne Anchrum 24/3

Master Roster 53 players just OL'ers:
9th OL-OT A.J. Arcuri 24/R

Practice Squad
OT Max Pircher 22/R
OG/OC Jack Snyder 21/R

Side Nuggett:
Of the projected 9/ MR53 OL'ers ...7 were college starting OT's...... very thin on interior OL'ers.

Did I not just read in ROD that in college teaching good successful pass blocking was much harder than learning good run blocking skills.....so why is teaching newly arrived NFL-level OT's to be good successful run-blocking OL'ers near impossible for Ram OL coaches?

Rams were to the point in 2021 where McVay was forced & counted on our MVP All-Pro WR to make the critical run blocks in order to have a little bit of success in our run game to try to keep the defense slightly thinking were not going to pass? We sure are going to badly miss WR Robert Woods again this season.

Here's :cheers2:to hoping that our new 3rd rd draft pick is our next RG Adam Timmerman.

No doubt Havenstein in free agency will command sizable dollars, and as we have seen with Corbett during this pre-season free agency period, Edwards will also be in line for a big raise. Corbett may or may not be considered for a secondary role as a Center as was so widely speculated by the Rams last year, Edwards may or may not be considered for a secondary role as a RT, but either way for both these guys, just the thought for them having the flexibility to play a cross-trained swing role boosts their value some on the open market. Both players will be expensive to retain next year.
Hopefully the Rams now have their future starting RG set, and they did draft depth at RT with Arcuri, one spot above Mr. Irrelevent's pick #262. Whether Arcuri stuns us as did Alaric Jackson last year talent-wise is still unproven, although I'll be surprised if he gets past the practice squad in 2022 unless there happens to be an injury. The Rams also acquired a projected OG as a UDFA, that being Jack Snyder, also a likely practice squad developmental player, and whether he'll be cross-trained as a Center is unannounced as yet.
The Rams brought in several UDFA's at various positions, how many actually make the team's 53 roster or practice squad is still very much in question, and there does remain another post camp free agency period if there are any personnel gaps remaining.
