Bill Parcells used to say when Belichick was his DC in New York, when he was looking for him "Where's Gloom?" So freaking true.

I was going to post a happy / smiling Bill Belichick gif as a joke.

So I goggled both Happy Bill Belichick gif; and, then Smiling Bill Belichick gif.

There really aren't any! He is smirking in a few but they are kind of Creepy.

NFL reporters starting to report Johnson to Washington and MacDonald to Seattle.

Crazy that Vrabel and Bill both out this cycle. But both guys are seen as guys who want complete control too.

Glad to see Johnson gone in Detroit. I cannot see Dan Campbell being the brains behind that offense. We will see who the Lions can get to replace him, but that is a huge loss for a NFC heavyweight. The Rams make it look easy, but it is not easy to get poached and never skip a beat. Just look how Philly did this year after losing their OC.

HUUUUUUUGE point.
Johnson is pretty damn sharp. We'll see what they can come up with.

And it will be real interesting to see how the Goff extension is handled

They drafted Hooker. That could mean Goff is a goner after next year. He could end up in Washington with Johnson. I wonder if the Lions would try to trade Goff this offseason, if they think Hooker really is the future. Body's stock is pretty high right now.

They'd get a good pick or more for him and some salary cap flexibility. Johnson could have an easier transition if he could bring Goff along.

Philly had an end of yr press conference this week and it was kind of hilarious.

Siriani explained they were looking for coordinators that could be like a HC for the offense and one that would be a HC for the defense. A reporter then asked, "Well, then what would your job be?"

It created instance references to this...

Jared Goff was playing just outside the top 10 as a QB this season! Why would they trade him? Do good quarterbacks grow on trees?

Yeah Goff's value is at a peak right now so if you aren't sure you want to pay him then now is when you move him. He is coming off an NFCCG season plus is making $26M for 2024 which is a good cost for where he is in his development.

I expect they play him in 2024 as he has earned that look. But as you say if they like Hooker and/or expect they can get similar production given the strength of that OL then it would not surprise me.

Goff- Highest QB rating and completion percentage in NFL since week 10. Led 2nd team to NFC Championship and Super Bowl if not for dropped passes and fumbles. Lions first <insert here> since forever.

Dude isn't Elite but he going to get paid.

I mean, there are a ton of teams that would happily eat the Lions lunch if they are stupid enough to trade him.

And Hooker played in a crazy ass weird offense, keep letting him sit. He wasn't special. Let him develop. It's just crazy, the idea of trading a top 12 QB unless you had the 1st pick in the draft or something.

Mind you, I'm not unware of Goff's limitations, but he's a better pure passer (I'm referring non play-action throws)* now than he's ever been. And while a statue (though he moved a bit today!) he's gonna have a good oline in front of him for a couple years so I think he's in good shape.

*I'd make the argument that he's better at play-action now too and isn't as spooked when he faces the D again and the back 7 has rotated.

Yep. And where teams really screw up is paying non-elite QBs. Goff is close to that point where you think "well maybe we can do this" but that can be a bad thing too. Either way not my problem any more thank fuck.

I suspect many here know more about the Lions roster than I do. But that OL is quite good and they have a center who is astute on the calls. That line in fact is designed to plug a younger QB in and it's not by accident that they have arrived this year. I think Brad had the timelines on this stuff set up.

So now he has a decision to make. He can get more from Goff if he moves him now, in terms of trade. Or he can wait and either pay him or move him based on how he plays next season. It'll probably be the latter. Just saying I wouldn't be surprised if they made a football decision and if they do it means they really like Hooker. Which again we have no idea of knowing what they think of him so who knows this of course is just guesswork.

Hooker has been injured since his last season in college, was only activated from PUP in December. Dude hasn't even practiced in the NFL. Bridgewater's been the backup all season so dude hasn't even been getting reps in the last 2 months.

He's not starting for a team, let alone the Lions next year, and he's certainly not beating out a top QB in the NFL.

The owner might freak out if that were suggested and probably nix the deal. That would be an 'old Lions move', not something a Brad Holmes would do. Of course, if they wanted Caleb they could trade him to the Bears and get beat twice a year until/if CW became a legit NFL QB.

I think Goff is in the 6 - 10 range. Not elite but give him time and he will chew a defense apart. 5000 plus yards puts him up there.

Such a dumbass statement by Siriani.

He should have said something about being a manager of their departments and he is the director of both departments.
