Wondering if Belichick becomes a more attractive head coach option in 2025.

Thinking of teams with high-expectations that could fall short; or teams that may have coaches in a precarious situation for the upcoming season ... just a few thoughts ... Buffalo, Dallas, NY Giants.

Of course, I don't know but it's fun to speculate.

Not a fan of Belichick but I would like to see him in a booth. Think he might be entertaining talking football.
I have to watch most games now with the sound turned-off. I feel like Romo does not prepare or really care, Olsen is just speaking in cliches and reading off-a-script and Collinsworth is in perpetual shill-robot form.
Him in a booth is less appealing to me than Collinsworth and Buck. Not sure what a guy with zero personality when he's talking on camera would be doing in a tv broadcast though.

Oh I dont disagree on that, I've said repeatedly that I wouldnt want him. He's washed IMO and I think his only motivation is to get the wins record at this point. Im not hiring a guy with that as the motivator.
What I dont agree with is an assertion that his desire to bring his own staff is why they wouldnt hire him. That's just ridiculous. You hire the guy to do things his way, any owner making decisions on who his coaching staff is would be a fool.
Either way, I was hoping he'd get a job so we could see him fail miserably in his last days and go out with his tail between his legs
Alas
I think Belichick is going out like Jeff Fisher. Once a respected head coach. Now it appears the game has passed them by. No one's interested. I'd be surprised if he ever gets that head coaching job.

And that would be a tragic and embarrassing mistake. Hiring a guy and expecting him to be an innovator at 72 years old, who's been doing things his way for the last 30 years ? Good gracious.
Again, I think anyone hiring Belichick at this stage would be making a mistake, the game passed him by.
The only thing attractive about him as a candidate is his previous history, and if that's what he can re-create, he'd be a great hire. That's the only reason you consider him. So for him to get as far as he did in the process, and there being any sort of surprise that he'd have his staff lined up is just crazy.
Oh, suggesting people can't learn and grow, even at 72, is off base, imo.

It's a choice.

I honestly have no idea if "the game has passed him by".. he still puts out some pretty good defenses.
And there's good evidence the bigger issues were his decisions on personnel... and *that* part of the interview would be HUGE, imo.
That's about giving up control and working as a team player, not about being an innovator.

The negative thoughts/comments above about Belichick analyzing games from a booth might be dead-on.

However, over the years, I have heard a dozen Media personalities and ex-players and coaches discuss how engaging Belichick could be and his knowledge and love of the game itself. Furthermore, that the his persona at press conferences was more a reflection of disdain for those Q&As, and a reluctance to give any information that could in any way impact future games.

In a booth, with an experienced and competent play-by-play man, discussing the game in front of him at that moment ... THAT could be interesting and entertaining.

Oh.. if you've seen him in settings where he *wants* to talk??? The guy is brilliant and engaging. A football encyclopedia and a fan.

I think he'd be just fine.

Having never seen that side of him I doubt it exists. Sorry if he's shown any personality in all the years I've seen clips of him I'd give some credence to it. But again there's no evidence of this but people trying to build him up maybe? I dislike the man so much I may never watch him anyways. He could be the greatest broadcaster ever and I'm likely to give him a shot the dirty cheater.

I mean, I think we're parsing things here but who HC's want to staff up with is a factor in their hiring. Charles Robinson puts the breakdown from sourcing on the total reorg in the front office and staff that ATL would have to do for only about 3 years of a coach.

I'm sure who Bill wanted to bring was also a factor, prob not the biggest. FWIW, I think McDaniels is a good not great OC, I think Matt Patrcica is pretty meh. Judge is a jag.

Still avoiding the point, he is who he is, and there isnt a soul on the plant who would think he was going to change. And honestly, who would want him to? They knew what they were getting from the first conversation they had. They hired the right guy IMO, he was the guy I said weeks ago was the guy. All I know is that making it out that him wanting his guys was the smoking gun that cost him the job to me is a bit farcical. Its like saying Antarctica was a lead candidate for a tropical vacation until it was discovered that its freakin cold
I’m not avoiding any point. I’m not sure what you mean by that. I even agreed with you that if you want Belicheat then you get his cronies too.

However, if Belichick was to get hired this year, I think it would have to have involved him agreeing to make some changes… which he wouldn’t do.

And, for all we know, Arthur Blank may not have been that serious about hiring Bill, but wanted to give him a chance to see what he had to say, and if he was willing to bend, however unlikely.

This is gonna be a BIG offensive departure from what they've done the last few years. Gonna be interesting to see if Hurts can keep up!
I wish Moore as much success in Philadelphia as he had in Los Angeles.

When NFLN did the Greatest 100 Players of All Time, I found Belichick to be engaging and the most knowledgeable commentator on the panel but I understand the hate. He does seem like a miserable Fuck.

Bill Parcells used to say when Belichick was his DC in New York, when he was looking for him "Where's Gloom?" So freaking true.

He did the NFL Top 100 thing with Eisen.
He's not super dynamic.. but he's knowledgeable and has insight. I don't think he'd work in a game or in a typical studio.. but there might be some places to exploit him. He'd definitely have to ramp up the energy for either.

Definitely not in a studio setting. Too controlled and scripted.
But in a booth, watching and talking about a game and strategy unfolding in front of him, in real time ... Magic!

Never watch those things so I'll take your guys word for it. But that's 2 instances vs every presser I've seen for decades. Doesn't change the fact I dislike the cheating SOB though :D

This is going to be an excellent hire by Seattle and they are only going to be tougher moving forward.
He could improve their defense. But like all HC it depends on how he fills out his coaching staff and if he hits on the QB. Don't think Geno is a long term starter.
