I just think fans can't help themselves but overreact when it comes to QBs. They get too much cred when they win and too much blame when they lose. And btw I am guilty of this too. Not exempting myself here.

Baker is not in a great situation here to excel. This is the line that almost got Stafford killed. He was throwing to JAGs as well. Seahawks were smothering a lot of early reads too. But clearly he had a shitty game which was very disappointing given how much I wanted that win in Seattle.

Going forward he needs a guy like McVay to rebuild him, and a passable OL with good weapons. It's all interrelated. QB is the most important of the 11 but he is still only one of 11. I am hoping McVay returns and Baker takes a backup contract here to study under him. Then we have Stafford's replacement in-house and maybe with a shrewd offseason get right back in the thick of shit in 2023.

Well Kupp will be back and Robinson/Skowrehnek too. I thought Skowrehnek was looking good before he got hurt.

Hopefully McVay (or I dread stating this ... the new coach) find ways to get Robinson in the game

I understand Baker wants a starting job or atleast a secure one, back up or starter he def has one here. Stafford may or may not be able to endure an entire season without another injury and if that were to happen we could use Baker. I just don’t want Wolford or perkins using up a roster spot because they are not reliable. I would keep Perkins on PS if anything, but Wolford could be cut for all I care… Baker needs the time to get into tune with our entire team Kupp and Arob included. OL needs to bulk up and hold better without being pushed around too much..

I should have said by at least 10 yards.
I think I miss understood what you were saying. Are you saying it needed to be thrown an extra 10 yds for it to be properly completed, or that it was 10 yds away from Jefferson when it was intercepted? Bc I understood it as the later, and the defender was only around 2 yds away from Jefferson when it was intercepted.

Not really a fair take ... the Rams, if not mathematically, were effectively eliminated before he even got here.
True, and Detroit also did it to themselves by getting eviscerated by the Carolina Panthers in week 16. if they are truly a playoff team, they win that game hands down

I am saying it should have been thrown 10 yards further for it to be properly completed.

Baker is a really good back-up but unless he has a great team around will not lead the team to a superbowl

I would put him in the bottom 10 of starting QBs

I fully agree with you on your first sentence above. However, I would put him at like 20th best QB in the league. Not quite within the bottom 10, but close. I don't hate the guy. He just doesn't seem to have "it." It being can take a team to the superbowl.

Hard to see how anyone here thinks they can evaluate what he did in 5 weeks with the team. Anyone think a healthy Stafford does much better with that shit show??? I don’t.

Mayfield was undoubtedly better than Wolford and Perkins would have been in those same game and they’ve been with the team for years. If any of the three are kept it should be Mayfield, the other two should already be cut.

Accuracy, pretty sure the coaches saw a hell of a lot more than us but he had some excellent throws in the games including the game winner against the Raiders.

Is he a finished product? Hell no but, if McVay stays and if the Rams sign Mayfirld, by the end of August he will undoubtedly be better than he is now.

Exactly. He's clearly head and shoulders above Wolford and Perkins. And Stafford himself was no better this year under similar circumstances, although he had more weapons to work with.
As for making judgements on how well Mayfield would fair as a primary starter, would only be fair to have seen him play with the full compliment of weapons the Rams have
Alas, highly unlikely we ever find that part out

Yeah I was pretty close to putting him at 20 as well

I probably should have restated that he is probably the the very best qb in the bottom 10 range - maybe even 20 or 21

Probably anywhere from 20 to 25

Let's see, by division, how many QB "Better"? And by better I'm thinking going forward not historically

AFC East- (1) Allen
AFC West- (3) Mahomes, Herbert and Russel Wilson will bounce back next year with a real head coach
AFC North- (3) Burrow, Jackson and Watson
AFC South- (1) Lawrence
NFC East- (2) I wouldnt want them as my QB, but they're better in their system. Dak and Hurts
NFC West-(1) Stafford- duh
NFC North- (3) Cousins, Goff and Rodgers
NFC South- (1) If the jerk off plays next year he's "better"

15 guys I think are clearly better and I'm one of Baker's biggest supporters.

I actually started this list anticipating that I would dispute your ranking, but in reality I'm pretty much right there with you

Yeah he didn't get a camp here either. I don't expect a guy like him to get a pass from the faithful just given opinions of him coming in, lot of folks who have poor opinions of him and rightly so, but at the very least the consideration of all the negatives he stepped into should be part of the postseason evaluation.

If Baker looked bad, well so did Matthew... but you honestly can't rate either QB this year with this broken o-line. To do so you would have to be a foolio.

Imagine if last year the team had all these injuries instead? Stafford coming in, performing like he did this year, then getting injured, and Goff making the playoffs in Detroit?
We'd have a new HC and GM right now.
