Lost in the euphoria - (and probably doesn't deserve its own thread:cautious:) -
was Hekker's 7 punts for an average of 49.7 yards. Almost 50 - that's pretty good.
Not that having to punt's a good thing, but still....

Had a friend text me yesterday, he was watching our game as well, and he said "Do you like your punter?"

Oh man! I was overwhelmed. I think we have the best in the game.

Yeah, we were losing the field position game the first half and really needed his booming kicks. Too many three and outs so Hekker is certainly appreciated here. Hopefully with our offense clicking a bit, his specialty will become kicks inside the 20, which I think he does pretty well too.

He's also an artist...

I look forward to the game that Johnny Hekker never punts, but being a Ram fan since Watergate (1973) he's the best punter since I've been a fan and maybe in their history.

You got to love Hekker. He indeed shut Peterson down this week and in a game like that is huge.

Not to hijack the thread, but I think this is the first game I can recall where we didn't use GZ for a field goal. Hekker is a beast though

We did use Zuerlein for a FG. ;)

GZ is perfect on the year for FG's and PATs... only half the league kickers can say that after week 4

the only other punter i like (or remember) is rusty jackson, who was smart enough to take a safety and run out the clock in a playoff game vs dallas instead of risking a big return with only seconds left in the game and the rams ahead 14-10.

frank corral did double duty for the rams in the late 70's i believe.

Johnny Hekker is our "Get out of Jail Free" Card. His boot has helped us out a lot in the past AND he throws a mean sneaky pass when he has to.

All hail the Hekkmeister :yess:
