I think the playoffs give owners a natural break line that could work beautifully for the NFL. If you don't get in the playoffs, you're in the lottery. Teams aren't going to tank to avoid playoffs for a shot at the top spot, or if they do it shouldn't be too prevalent.Anybody who looks at the NBA's model and thinks it's superior is nuts. The NBA has a massive tanking problem, worse than the NFL's. Yet, the NBA has a lottery. A lottery does nothing to dissuade teams from tanking. The NFL's system promotes parity. They should retain it.
Also I wouldn't weight the chances at all. Equal chances for all teams in the lottery that don't make the playoffs. This fucks over shit owners who like to make their living at the top of the order.
