Less than 2 months ago, the Rams were reportedly working the phones and trying to make another splash move. If the "inside sources" are correct, we offered big packages of draft capital in an attempt to acquire Brian Burns and Christian McCaffrey. If accurate, that clearly indicates that the Rams were prepared to, once again, go "all in" to make a run.

Are they still?

Don't let the record fool you. The Rams are still, at full health, a formidable team. But, as this year has shown, they (even beyond the injury issues) have some areas that need improvement.

So, are the Rams still willing to make bold moves to win now, or will they settle into a more long term approach?

As I mentioned in another thread, I think (and definitely hope) that they will continue to push the envelope to win now. After all, the McVay/Stafford/Donald/Kupp window is likely only going to be open for another 2 to 3 years, tops.

So, if the Rams see it the same way, their premium draft picks (2nd round 2023, 1st round 2024 and beyond) could very well be in play, if the right player is available. Would they also consider the reverse - trading an asset (Ramsey, given his age, is probably the most valuable tradeable asset) to acquire Blue Chip talent in this year's draft?

Everything I'm saying here is pure speculation, but... given the combination of the Rams still playing with "house money" after winning it all last year, and the potentially short term window for the current core, I could see the Rams having a very active and bold offseason.

Now there's something to look forward to!

The ONLY thing that I might see as throwing off another 'all in' scenario revolves around the LT health of both Noteboom & Jackson. That may be a position too far to recover from considering other expectations at LG/Center, Edge, S, TE & elsewhere. As aging players like Donald, Ramsey, Higbee, Floyd & Wagner might see some diminishing returns in the next couple of years, now is the time to pounce if we wish to take advantage of their current skill-set. The Rams appear to have at least 10 draft picks to look forward to, and although our CAP situation may limit us somewhat, Snead could also have a rabbit or two under that hat which produces some trade or free agent acquisitions. Our 2024/2025 1'st round draft picks can also be dealt to add talent. The Rams have options, it's just whether our concerns at LT are a Bridge to Far that leaves me apprehensive. jmo.

I’m still bullish on the Rams chances next year. Full offseason for guys to get healthy. Pretty ridiculous amount. OL will improve just by health alone - even without anyone new (although I do think there will be new additions). RB, QB, WR will all improve- maybe even TE.

Easier schedule too.

I can’t wait for the 2023 season to start!

If McVay is the coach next season I think they are all in once again. And will be until he is not the coach, as that will be the rebuild under new leadership. So the fork in the road is whether or not McVay returns.

I really don't see him leaving.

But I've been wrong about such things before.

Hope you're right. I honestly am not sure either way, but am very concerned.

I think I'm with you on the potential trade of Ramsey. He will be 29 next month and he counts as 25m on the cap. IMO, he has lost a bit of a step, still effective and good, but on the decline a bit. I agree with several posters here who think he would be an All Pro safety, he would. But, he's not going to take a safety salary (top paid is 14.75m/year currently). I'm of the opinion we should trade him to to highest bidder and make drafting a CB high a top priority. This will significantly lower our cap and infuse some youth into the team. Better to trade him slightly early then too late. There is also an out in his contract in 2024 but clearly that would give us zero value.

After a season like this everyone is potentially on the trade block tbh. Stafford could be moved. AD. Ramsey. I wouldn't rule any of them out because all it would take is a team throwing a big offer to you for one of them or the Rams deciding they can use the return to hasten the rebuild.

AD could work in a Pittsburgh trade because he can live close to his daughter during the season. Stafford could go to any number of teams and hopefully one with a good line. Ramsey feels like a salary dump but we found a trade partner for Cooks so who knows.

Maybe next year (2024) when the 'dead money' is a great deal lower for Donald & Ramsey, ... trying to trade Stafford now would likely trigger his early retirement. jmo.

I dont think everyone is a possible trade. The 3 that just got huge bonuses and guarantees? Dont see it. Everyone else yes. I also dont see a coach as competitive as mcvay going out this low.

I think Sean has found a shiny new toy to mold into his QB of the future in Mayfield. I'd be shocked if Mayfield isn't extended for 2 years.

I also feel that the Rams will make a push to get Burns this off season. The Panthers had to extend him on his 5th year option. The fact that they didn't at the same time extend Burns for multiple years is significant. The Panthers are cap strapped and IMO they would be in a more receptive mood after the season. Offer the Panthers this year's second (which will be in the top half of the round) and two first round picks via 2024 & 2025.

Hoecht is in reality a 3T behind Donald but as usual, Morris is playing him out of position. Morris is playing Jonah Williams at 3T when he's really a DE another genius move by Morris. The more I watch Morris play players out of position makes me wonder if he really knows his roster. IMO he doesn't and only knows his friends and simply plugs holes with whoever is handy.

Hoecht was playing in rotation with AD but when AD went out Morris moved Hoecht to DE. Hoecht has the makings of a pretty good 3T with speed and strength. He's the logical successor to Donald, so why is he playing at DE while Donald is out?

Yeah IMO the Rams are definitely still in their "all in mode".

Trading Ramsey pre June 1 19,600,000 dead money and 5.6 mill cap savings?

Trade pos June 1 8.2 mill dead money and 17 cap savings.

Seems like it’s doable considering what we did to trade Goff!

If it's a Post-June 1 trade, wouldn't that mean the Rams could not receive any 2023 draft choices in return?

Unless the Rams are willing to assume some additional debt, I just can't see too many teams willing to pick up Ramsey's 2023/2024 CAP.

bro he is 36 years old...

no way he is walking away from coaching anytime soon.

Agree, he hasn't even had kids yet. I can see him wanting a change to increased family time once his children are 3 or 4 or so many years old. jmo.
