There was a point last night where I had to bail out of the GDT. It got so ridiculously toxic and antagonistic when the Cards took the lead in the third quarter. And even before then, when we weren't blowing them out and had to settle for a couple of field goals.
And it seems to be that's always the case when the team isn't playing well.
Comments verging on abusive about McVay and the team as a whole, with what little sensible balance there was drowned out.
I understand that people get upset, so do I. But it's the speed at which some people go from zero to manic outrage that almost takes my breath away.
I swear there were people in there last night who would have literally fired McVay given half a chance.
Ya know, the guy who's been the most successful head coach by some margin for the LA Rams. And who's just taken us to the playoffs yet again. But apparently, according to some posters, he doesn't know how to call plays.
I wonder if this incredible run of success we have had is making some Rams fans entitled. That, to them, making the playoffs is no longer good enough. We have to make the playoffs by playing outstanding football and dominating teams. Sports rarely work like that.
I know some people will say ignore the GDT. But living in the UK, it's hard to get into the threads later on when things have cooled down because it's the early hours, and I have work to do in the morning. And I really enjoy listening to some of the more knowledgeable posters talk about plays in real time. But those kinds of comments and insight seem to be becoming rarer and rarer.
I know a lot of people vent like that because it's their way of handling the situation, but I think that it's pushing some people away, and that frustrates me.
And yes, I realise I am venting about people venting. But I never said I wasn't a hypocrite.
