There was a point last night where I had to bail out of the GDT. It got so ridiculously toxic and antagonistic when the Cards took the lead in the third quarter. And even before then, when we weren't blowing them out and had to settle for a couple of field goals.

And it seems to be that's always the case when the team isn't playing well.

Comments verging on abusive about McVay and the team as a whole, with what little sensible balance there was drowned out.

I understand that people get upset, so do I. But it's the speed at which some people go from zero to manic outrage that almost takes my breath away.

I swear there were people in there last night who would have literally fired McVay given half a chance.

Ya know, the guy who's been the most successful head coach by some margin for the LA Rams. And who's just taken us to the playoffs yet again. But apparently, according to some posters, he doesn't know how to call plays.

I wonder if this incredible run of success we have had is making some Rams fans entitled. That, to them, making the playoffs is no longer good enough. We have to make the playoffs by playing outstanding football and dominating teams. Sports rarely work like that.

I know some people will say ignore the GDT. But living in the UK, it's hard to get into the threads later on when things have cooled down because it's the early hours, and I have work to do in the morning. And I really enjoy listening to some of the more knowledgeable posters talk about plays in real time. But those kinds of comments and insight seem to be becoming rarer and rarer.

I know a lot of people vent like that because it's their way of handling the situation, but I think that it's pushing some people away, and that frustrates me.

And yes, I realise I am venting about people venting. But I never said I wasn't a hypocrite.

I just like to be sarcastic and make fun of our situation.

I realize some people take it seriously, but its therapeutic for me, so thanks to all those who laugh it off or put up with it. :crap:

I'm sure all of us really love this team but like me, they love to poke fun at the way we also play down to such inferior competition at times. It really is hilariously maddening at times.

It’s a real time vent thread, nothing more than a virtual bar where you can ball bust and let off some quick steam about the team and then laugh when it turns out the way it did (does)
That said, there are a few folks who show up just to pee in the punch, to be negative and antagonist. I doubt they're even Rams fans at all, just trolls. So I try not to put them any mind

Abusive? What's next, arresting grannies for hurt feelings online?
What a fucking stupid response from a poster whose stuff I usually like reading.

Now that I'm back in the UK, I don't get to talk to Rams fans anymore. So when I'm in a chat room and people are just ranting and raving, saying how shit the team is, how McVay's an idiot and can't call a game, that we're one and done, and we shouldn't even be going into the playoffs, it's fucking annoying.

Nobody said anything about arresting anybody. I was offering an opinion/different take to a room of grown-ups.

Sorry man, just how I feel about it. You opened that door.

Quickest way to ruin cameraderie is to weaponize sensitivity. Good intentions, but bad results.

I have exited those threads too at times. But censorship is usually the worst management tool to handle it.

The GDT is absolutely pathetic. It's actually at the point where we need 2 of the. One for the current thread that is full of toxic waste. And one for people that want to enjoy chatting with fellow fans and can be critical but not be cringe worthy.

I don’t think so. There are a number of sports fans who are fickle. It’s going well, we’re the best thing since sliced bread. It’s not going so well, everyone is shit and sack them all. This happens in all sports. There doesn't seem to be anything in between with these people. Luckily, I’d say the majority on here are pretty realistic. So, I’d say people are more fickle rather then entitled. Again, this is in respect of all supporters of all team sports and not solely specific to the Rams.

Highly recommend staying out of the GDT during the game. It’s distracting and fuels too much optimism or too much pessimism.

There is a lack of emotional maturity in the GDT. Lower your expectations when you venture in. It can be pure comedy at times when things aren't going well. My favorite posters are the ones that are convinced McVay will never learn regarding running the ball in scoring position. They will insist he doesn't understand that if you just hand it off you score every time. You're not dealing with football geniuses in there so don't take it seriously.

It's the nature of how 40% of Americans behave these days.... They feel they have a sense of entitlement because of who they are or what they do for a living. Funny you bring this up as we saw this with a new resident in our private community. When you live in a private community there are some rules that need to be followed (and naturally some do get bent a little or broke every now and again). But when a new resident (a fireman) thinks he can park his 4x4 anywhere he wants (then lied and told us the La Verne fire chief said he could... not true), then his three very young kids (5 thru 8) are riding in the community on electric vehicles on sidewalks (not allowed) without helmets (again not allowed) and one of them spit in the face of a young girl (her parents called the police), then one of them crashed on someone's driveway and was hurt pretty badly. We had to let the owner (landlord) of the house know what was going on with the tenants because the owner was getting issued a fine of $1500. Basically the renters are now in the process of being evicted by the owner after only two months.

As for Rams fans here, I think most just get frustrated with situational instances with the Rams rather than the overall team. There are only a few here that throw in the towel during the first half of the game which to me is silly. I think what some of us forget (including me) the league in quite competitive these days, mixed in with terrible and unpredictable officiating it creates a bit of anxiety.

I like the GDT. People are different and emotions are different. I just laugh at some of the silliness. No biggie.
This. I'd like to sit back and act all high and mighty like I never get pissed off and vent during a game. But unfortunately I've had some posts in those things when the performance of the team gets to me, like when we lose to the Shitters for example.

There are some posters who are negative as fuck every game in there. But it's like seeing a game at the bar... There's gonna be fans who overreact or get stupid and it's far better to laugh or poke fun than get all fucking offended like a virgin taking a bukkake session.

The quick-to-bitch crowd are fans I don't want to sit near at a live game. Sure, they're Ram fans too and want to win but if you've played sports in your life, they're like team mates who bury their head up their ass when things don't go exactly right and are worthless the rest of the game. But they're right there among the first ones celebrating when it's over! Not the guys who contribute to success but boy do they like to bask in it.

I've been guilty of being too harsh in the gdt but in reality its real time feelings and all so I don't put too much stock into it, and either should you.
My posting is very limited in game threads while the game is in process. One, is I have people over the house watching the game with me, and I don't want to be one of those hosts that has their face in their phones like a zombie. Two, events move so quickly you post something negative then something in the next moment goes positive for the Rams you kinda look like a putts. lol...

What I find comical is if it's 3 & 1 or 2 and we run for it and fail here come all the so predictable a run up the middle with Kyren. A run up the middle is probably what 75% of teams do on 3rd & 4th and short. So with Kyren's speed you don't want to run anything wide so that leaves a pass as the other option and if that fails here come all the McVay gets too pass happy, why's McVay abandoning the run, run it if you can't get a yard straight up the middle that's pitiful
