Exactly and hopefully Van can learn from him if he's still around
Hope you're right man but I dont think Van can develop that part of his game. I think you have that or you dont as a WR. Tracking and attacking the ball in the air...body control..strong hands catching. All areas where Robinson is elite and where Van struggles. Same areas where OBJ is elite.

I think it's more likely we've just realized Van isnt that type of WR. He's got the speed to go deep and is a good route runner, but lacks the ability to finish and complete the catch more often than not. All reasons why the Tutu pick continues to make me scratch my head. We made the Tutu pick months after acquiring Stafford.

Apparently, McVay was scarred by the second half of the Superbowl when he had just one WR to throw to. But he'd better start focusing more on the defense, because it was the pass rush that won the Rams the SB this year, not his passing offense.

Imagine being Stafford. You put up with the mess of a franchise in Detroit for over a decade. You try to change the culture and turn things around. The team never goes anywhere tho-- no defense, no run game, they fire your best coach... and then you get traded to the Rams. Superbowl Champs in year 1, stability in the franchise from top to bottom, aggressive front office, etc. Dude is on vacation and keeps winning.

Skow was outstanding as a blocker out of the backfield which was something Woody did a lot of. Skow's bigger and more physical in that, and they also have Harris as a WR now both of those guys are big and rangy special teams types willing to get dirty.

I will be surprised if Woody isn't moved or cut now. Again I appreciate Woody. But gotta be realistic here. If the Rams can fit him in at that price more power to them but I just don't see how that makes sense.
With a team that just won the Super Bowl relying on Skowronek, Harris or Atwell is too risky for next season. Even Jefferson gives me some pause. That leaves Allen Robinson and Kupp for most of the year if they trade Woods.

One thing is for certain. McVay loves his weapons and I guess nobody should be surprised that he wanted another receiver. One of the most sure handed receivers in the league. Robinson did not drop a pass in 2020. Plus his size should be an asset after watching the mugging of receivers that was permitted in the Super Bowl.

My fucking internet goes down for an hour and when i get back on we got Robinson.

I feel like this triggers no return for one of OBJ or Woods. I don't think Jefferson has trade value. Then again, maybe he's looked upon differently outside of the Rams box.

Robinson could really blow up here playing outside. Shocking signing tbh.

Rams are better than 90% of the teams in the league at WR1-2 now. If Odell returns they're better than probably 95% of teams at WR1-3. Then they have depth loaded with big rangy teamers.

So I don't see much risk at WR tbh. Seems to me that Tutu was a miss though. Not only did he get hurt and not impress McVay, but beyond that he doesn't fit our QB. Rams look like they whiffed there and yes there's time and all that but still doesn't look good.

Three "ACTIVE/HEALTHY" top-shelf receivers seems to have been the magic formula since McVay got here; our offence has always declined when injuries drops us to two. And the magic we had to end the Super Bowl with just one elite receiver is not going to outscore healthy offences.

Insurance. Last season proved it's important.

Don't release Cap't Woody - - he's still got wood. I know it.

Go Rams.

It sure seems like McSnead isn’t very good at identifying future or even maybe immediate needs - but they are fantastic at fixing current problems once they arise (Jalen, Stafford, Von, Robinson, etc., etc)

Hot damn! Robinson is a freaking STUD! Wow!

Van Jefferson feels like the guy who should be nervous, as the most trade-able player.

But, I also think Jeff’ has been better than some give credit. I don’t want to lose him.

Minny wants to trade thielin the pats want him maybe Jefferson and a pick for hunter ton of savings they recoup assets .....but either way something of a plan B is going on here no? Obj I don't think is going no way. So that would leave Jefferson. This is confusing as fuck. Woods? Kupp? Robinson? Obj? Even then seems like a lot of player not a lot of footballs.

Unless we have traded in the works or a surprise cut or AD is really going to do it. Oh von love you and ty but your a scumbag!!!

Kupp, Robinson, Woods & OBj is about the greatest starting depth I can imagine. 2'nd year developmental players Atwell, Harris & Skow are insurance. Considering our WR injuries last season, I like the idea of being safer than sorry. Van Jefferson has to be the odd man out in a trade scenario imo.

But Odell likely won’t return until Dec or later. So that left Kupp as the only surehanded receiver they had, is basically a stud. So Robinson was a necessity since there are no assurances Woods will be his old self. On the same note they don’t know if Odell will be his old self. So the Rams #3 is Jefferson again.

My point about McVay loving his weapons is that I don’t think he is content with Van as his number 3 target. That’s why they originally planned on Kupp, Woods, and Beckham last fall. He wants a stud at all three spots. He is now back to two just like last year before signing Odell.

I agree the pats want thielin Jefferson is cheap young Jefferson and Jefferson with Osbourne not bad. They can get a pick from us as well and the pats would give whatever assets as well. Minny saves ton money rt? No 18 mill for hunter.

Or Jefferson for a corner and we are signing ZaDarius and Wagner???

There is a limit to how much you can spread the cap. IMO there is a tradeoff, I would rather have Robinson and hopefully Hunter than Von and Woods. Look at Woods' contract. By structure, he probably would be trade bait or gone next year. OBJ realistically won't be ready until next year. Considering this is a re-injury of his original injury it's going to take longer to heal if it ever does. IMO they may have gotten bad news regarding OBJ's long-term prognosis.

Woods is 30 years old. Even if he can recover, how many good years does he have as a WR? Maybe 2 more? Signing Robinson is a we are moving on type of signal. I think the long terms outlook for both OBJ and Woods isn't there for the Rams. They are serious about continuing to build off of this last SB.

Robinson insures that the Rams shouldn't ever be down to just one good WR again. I don't see it as a demotion of Jefferson at all. If anything it means Woods' clock is running out either this season or next. Woods knows that because of the way the contract is structured this probably was looked at as his last season when he got his extension.

Robinson is most productive on the outside. Has played out of the slot but he's clearly best outside. Last year when Woods went down they moved Jefferson to X receiver and he struggled at times learning a new route tree. I see them looking at moving Jefferson back to the slot or to Z WR and Kupp to the slot with Robinson replacing Woods at X.

That is why signing Hunter would be huge. What if AD decides to not return? The Rams will need two very good edges. With Floyd, Gaines, Robinson, and hopefully Hunter this still would be a very good DL. IMO Hunter is AD insurance. Getting him would probably mean AD stays for at least one more year. Then after that the Rams still have the talent to field a very good DL, in the same way Robinson gives the Rams WRs longer-term stability.
