Bugs me that we're selling low on him. Would have preferred McVay get him going then flip him at the trade deadline but clearly he was a non-fit. Which still surprises me. Still feel like he should have been good in this offense but maybe that's me trying to be right idk.

Either way there's room for us to draft a wideout now. :laugh2:

I'm gonna present two lines of thinking:

1) There was no room for him in this offense, he couldn't provide what we needed at X and we have a log jam at slot where he would need targets to thrive and just body up CBs.

2) What happened to the guy that was just destroying people and wowing everyone in camp? Is there a stubborness to the Rams and their offense?

I'm not gonna use Jourdan's line here because peoples heads would explode but just say that it's probably both: The Rams are stubborn in their offensive scheme AND Robinson only offers very limited use in how he can beat coverages at this point in his career.

Well, he really was not the guy we thought we were getting. If it was gonna be more of the same then I suppose its not a bad thing. Should create even more cap space next year? I hope.

I think Jefferson should be given every opportunity to show what he can do. He's got the skills to be a solid WR2. This also likely creates more opportunity for Tutu Atwell. He showed flashes last year. Speed. Ability to track down the deep throws. And decent hands.

In what is perceived to be a throw away year maybe those guys can give us something to look forward to if they decide to extend Jefferson.

Yes, I think there's a shot for Jefferson to max out a tiny bit more than he has which we missed out on from the injuries to him, the line and QB last year. He's got a shot at being a really solid #2 next year. Still will need more help in the WR room though.

Yeah…I’m starting to think I may have underestimated the potential for the Rams taking a WR in Round 2 or 3.
Rams are going for pass catchers, I'd say I wouldn't be shocked if they grabbed a WR in round 2... but the draft class is so bad I can't see them doing it without a trade down and taking a chance on a toolsy guy as the productive WRs all look like Atwell.

But only if there is a all pro Center available, THEN we”ll draft a speedy receiver!

I think he wasn't smart enough to grasp the concepts. This offense is one of the hardest around for wideouts. McVay has very high standards on the mental end of the spectrum and layering of reads and shit. Down the road we're gonna hear most likely that he had problems with all that which affected his game.

Because he's a guy who just bodies opponents and we have a QB who will make those throws. But he didn't for numerous reasons not just the mental side.

Bottom line is the Rams might be stubborn in their scheme, which is to say McVay is stubborn in his scheme, but they tend to maximize guys who fit. The key is that fit. So I remain extremely disappointed in the entire Robinson episode, because I've always loved his game. Really irritates me to see this shitty episode end on this note but oh well moving on now.

Ok Les WR is a need now. Go get me a tiny, speedy, passcatchy sumbish.

I hope we don't draft another small WR in the 2nd round.
This is an absolute real concern for me. Enter Tank Dell. I'm sure McVay is frothing at the mouth over this kid. Projected anywhere from 2nd to 5th. Holy hell would I be pissed if we take him at 36. Think Tutu weight, but one inch taller=skinnier

Robinson hasn’t been traded yet. The title should be changed until further notice. @CGI_Ram

Aside from that I’d prefer they trade him for a 2024 pick. They could get a round higher possibly.

So a 4th = a 3rd next year.
Or a 6th this year = a 5th next year.

There is now zero chance the Rams aren't taking a WR in this draft.
I felt like they had their eye on the Michigan state receiver with the late 3rd round pick - who has punter return ability as well. Now, they may have higher WR dreams.

We should probably merge this and Avengers post. Looks like we posted at same time. @CGI_Ram

Be nice to see Benny Skow or Lance McCutcheon step up into a big (physically, that is) WR role now.
