Bonify’d- I’ll keep it real simple. What part of the OL is off as it is today? Where did I off it?
McVay swung the 7th rd rookie OT Arcuri last season. He is listed behind Havenstein. Started 1 gms @ LT & ended up doing a better job @ LT than Noteboom in several of his 6 gms.
McVay utilized Noteboom as a swing OT in 2018 & in the 2021 seasons, In fact, he was at his healthiest when he was in this utilized in this swing OT position.
McVay used Alaric Jackson as his swing OT in 2021 when Noteboom had been relieved of his swing post due to starting. Jackson always a college LT is listed as a RT but also swung inside to RG due to the emergencies
Tremayne Anchrum was a swing OT in his rookie season for Kromer. He was a 4 year OT in college.
Zac Thomas was a swing OT in college too.
Even Coleman Shelton started games in college at both LT & RT you know he is over 6-4 tall.
So please help me understand why a swing OT is a bonified thing to go out & draft.
Then there is Logan Bruss who was a pure OT for four seasons in college, not an OG so add that to the former OT's the Rams have.
My thoughts, if McVay is not filling the airways with an overblown prognosis of on-time recoveries of Noteboom, Jackson, Bruss & Anchrum why is there a need for drafting a swing OT?
My dumb self and my 1 working paramecium brain cells tell me that what McVay needs in this draft are swing INTERIOR OL'ers who can swing/swang & swung like hell between center RG & LG as needed as the starting OL'ers are carted off the field into surgery.
A” Jackson will be The Rams starting LG.
It looks like Anchrum will compete against Bruss. I’m not a Bruss fan & Anchrum hasn’t shown me much, but Mcvay likes him at RG. I don’t want a 6’2 guy playing Tackle. You might?
Arcuri has really good footwork & balance. He just doesn’t have good technique. I saw him Oldschool it by putting his arms in & elbows out against the SEAHAGs as a OT.That takes away from having Long arms & controlling the Edge Rusher.Don’t know if he was being taught that so there wasn’t a holding call ?
