He is doing what he is paid to do and he is good at it!:fistbump1::)

I am a Demoff supporter I have no issues with him & do not want any changes.!
Agree, the letter was good, the timing is good (has to be for season ticket sales) and the facts are straight.

This part stood out to me:

During the trade deadline this past year, it was clear that in a new era where teams were willing to be as aggressive as we were that we had neither the draft capital nor the salary cap space to win trade conversations and be able to take on top players at the salaries they would command.
As a result, we faced a choice this offseason. We could once again restructure contracts to give ourselves one last shot with our core roster but that would mean a total rebuild would be necessary over the next few seasons. Or we could focus on replenishing our draft capital and improving our long-term salary cap situation, clearing the way for us to compete both now and in the future.

Basically, he saying that the Rams had zigged when everybody else zagged, but now they are zigging too. So now we're gonna have to zag for a year or so.

And to be sure, I think they've got it right. The reality of the cap situation has caught up and other teams are copying the Rams, so now we take a different path. Deal with the pain for one off-season, and then go into the next one with draft picks and a fuck-ton of cap space (which is, like, way more than a shit ton). Overall, I'm excited going forward, even if we have some pain right now.

I'm actually annoyed at this. If we are mailing it in this year then we should do it fucking properly. Fuck winning 8 games. Go get fucking Caleb next year.
You can't out-suck the Indianapolises and Houstons of the world...just can't.

In hindsight, he should have never sent that letter because there will always be some "journalists" out there trying to elevate themselves by humiliating NFL teams/organizations. Us fans, we all know what is going on... and the season ticket holders know too because they are also fans. If the Rams are competitive on the football field, people will come. If they suck, the stadium will soon be empty. No reason to write a letter.

Then again, I guess this is simply a part of the "pre-season sales pitch".

And if he didn't send it, which I think he sends something like this every year, they'd have done the opposite that he and the Rams were hiding from the questions.

The only curious thing in his letter was the statement of wanting to go deep into the playoffs. Normally, they say Super Bowl.

With the best WR in the league, the best defensive player in the league and possibly the best QB in the conference.

My god Rams fans have become weak minded and dramatic as hell

Best QB and WR in the conference with the worst offensive line the league and no proven #2 or #3 WR...

Best DL of all time with NO OTHER pass rush threat on the roster and a secondary that currently consists of Derion Kendrick, Q. Lake, Russ Yeast, and Cobie Durant...We've already seen what happens when Donald is our lone playmaker on defense and it's not good hence why we went after guys like Von and Ramsey in the first place...

I get being optimistic but you're also acting like we didn't just have a 5 win season and are now without Jalen Ramsey

Rams do have 3 great players. And we have McVay and a capable new set of assistants, hopefully with new ideas. It's certainly within some realm of possibility for them to field a competitive team in 2023 (not title contending, even KD didn't claim that).

And I agree with KD about the strategy. Better to rebuild now (my word, not his) than kick the can down the road and take three years to be a serious contender again.

Rams have also had a lot of worse, more disappointing, headed in the wrong direction years than 2023 will be. And maybe they'll surprise us.

But here are my concerns, weak minded though they may be:
  • How many proven starters do we have beyond the Big Three?
  • How many above average starters?
  • How many positions require guys who haven't started and/or aren't yet proven?
  • How many guys are we relying on to come back from serious injuries?
  • How many positions can we realistically fill with the limited cap space available?
  • How many 2023 draft picks will need to either start or get serious playing time?
I won't say it's impossible to fill in all the holes needed for a winning season in 2023, but imo it will be McVay, Snead and Co.'s biggest challenge yet.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what they can come up with.

And you're acting like Stafford, Kupp and AD played every game during that 5 win season.

And you're acting like we didn't have the worst OL injuries in league history

Expecting all these injured guys to magically be healthy all season is a bit wishful thinking. History says that injured guys usually continue to get injured again.

Maybe it was all bad luck one time injuries. But even Stafford- are you truly confident that he can stay healthy all season? Especially playing behind that OL. Tall order indeed. Without Stafford, this is a bottom 5-10 team.

Stafford and Kupp started 9 games and Donald started in 11...we won a whopping 3 games with them in the line up...

We also had our starting OL sans Bruss to start the season and it led to Stafford getting sacked a whopping 7 times in our opener...I'm not buying the injury excuse because the line actually got better when guys like Aboushi and Ty Nsekhe were inserted in the lineup...

Well, will keep most of my opinion about Demoff and his art of the "truth" to myself. But this is what I was saying back when the Burns and McCaffrey trades were happening or not happening... we created a new way of going about things in the NFL with in season and offseason trading with capital assets. It was bound to happen and we priced ourselves out of the market we created. So time to go a different route for a bit until market cools or we build up enough assets again to compete on that market.

I said the same thing on another board. The oline was bad even before the injuries. The loss of Whitworth and Corbett were bigger than some thought they would be.

As a former successful business owner for 33 years I see this letter differently than the average fan. I understand completely what he's saying. For the most part I have no argument with it. Resetting his financial base to make another hard run makes complete sense to me. Snead has two assets to make those trades. First round picks and cap clearance. That absolutely doesn't mean the Rams can't be competitive. The just have to be more selective in how they construct the roster. They have to rely upon their existing roster players to deliver upon their upsides.

Guys like Tutu have to deliver. He had a breakout with Mayfield that must be expanded with Stafford. Morris didn't like Gaines because Gaines was a one gap 1T NT and he wants a 0T two gap NT like Brown, because he's going to continue with his Fangio style combo two/one gap D front. We saw last year what a failure it is. It means another down year for AD. It's why he want a big DE like Hoecht to play more contain than pressure. It's why so many teams are moving to a one gap attacking front. This defense looked like Detroit's in it's first halve of the season last year.

Basically, with the return to health, Stafford's offensive group is basically intact. With Akers, and Williams they are only lacking a RB3 which they can get in the draft. At WR they have Kupp, Jefferson, Robinson, Atwell, and Skowronek and they might add to them in the draft.

He will be playing behind a OL that should be far better than last year's. The main hole in the OL Edwards is now gone. Allen when healthy is a solid center regardless of what the media thinks. Thomas and Bruss are expected to fill the OG spots now and into the future. IMO Thomas is ahead of Bruss in terms of his NFL development and expect him to start at one of the OG spots. The Rams then have Shelton as an alternative. Coleman is a better Center than OG but at OG he isn't bad. They also have Toner for depth who has played solid everywhere he's been. He's not a starter but as a backup he's better than someone like Skura who sucked. At OT they are in good shape with Noteboom and Jackson who can also start at OG. So that is why I don't see the OL as the huge issue that most here seem to think. IMO it could be better than the won they had to win the Super Bowl.

I think the Rams learned from their extended search among FAs for P and PK that they won't find what they want long term among them. They will draft a P, PK and LS and there are some decent ones that will be on the board in the 5th round. That's the round they should take their P and PK and the long snapper can come in the 6th or 7th round.

As I've said in previous posts, I don't see where all this doom and gloom is coming from. If their choices in Thomas and Toner don't pan out they will be drafting OL next year. I think Bruss will be another Corbett type of OG, good enough. i.e. not great but not bad either. I have higher expectations for Thomas, which is why I expect he and Bruss to be their OGs in the future, along with Shelton at center. I expect Noteboom to return to form and Jackson who we know is solid to be at RT starting next year.

2024 OL
LT Noteboom
LG Thomas
C Shelton
RG Bruss
RT Jackson

That is why I don't see them in the market for OL starters. Next year will be drafting for depth. It's also why Demoff's letter is fine with me.

Noteboom and Allen both got injured in game 1 and toughed it out. Allen never played again and Noteboo. Stuck around for another 5 with a sprained MCL. Our backup RG went down on his second snap of game 2.

Soooo... which game was before the injuries?

The Buffalo game. They got dismantled for 7 sacks. Whether they "toughed it out" or not they were bad. I don't make excuses for my team. When they are bad I call them out. And it's pretty apparent they will be going with basically the same group soo same philosophy, same players, same results IMO.

The below is sure interesting once you read it ......

Of all the Ram OL'ers that were contracted to the Rams MR53 after the regular season began, Nsekhe/ Aboushi/ Skura/ Arcuri/ Thomas & Kolone did not miss any more than 1 gm & most did not miss anytime due to injuries.

All but 2 of Ram's original 8 OL'ers on the initial MR53 fell in injuries for long periods of time leaving only Havenstein & Iron Man Bobby Evans!

Allen IR'd
Noteboom IR'd
Shelton only finished 11 gms.
Jackson IR'd
Anchrum IR'd
Edwards IR'd

Guess you could throw Bruss in there too...IR'd.

If Joe Noteboom is our starting LT next season, we'll see the same struggling offense we saw last year. It's clear McVay and Stafford do not want to run a ball control/PA rollout/quick release passing game to hide our terrible OL. If the OL is not improved by adding new players whether thru FA or the draft, i think it's safe to say we're in for a similar season that we had last year.

It's insane after what we saw with our own eyes last year that people think we're gonna be some sort of sleeper team sending a starting line consisting of a turnstile at LT (Noteboom), an avg/below avg LG (Shelton), and depending again on an oft injured C (Allen).

It's clear as day Alaric Jackson is the best LT on our roster and Hav will start at RT...every other spot should feature new starting players or atleast be an open competition (Center included) for there to be any reason to be optimistic about our offense improving from last year.

Of course you would.TOTALY DISAGREE Man!! Noteboom is a good LT. I know ALL THE DOUBTERS.
If anybody knows me,or follows some of my clearer post know I have a descent track record.
I lost a couple bets on The Rams futures about 7-8 years ago. Still Fisher was what he was as a Rams HC. A LOSSER!! I drank the Kool-aide & Nick Foles won a Superbowl against The GOAT.
I’ll wait till OTA’s & see what The Rams look like with Wendle Day 1. 4 the record I think niners are tough. Then the Hags future is brighter than The Rams right now. —I’ll go on record as I really like Matthew Stafford(hate wife) & was never a Fan of trading for either Stafford & Goff. Jalen RAMsey was worth it imo.Trading him was a must, but that AFC is going to be Tough!
