Really good player. Better person. Late-in-life, Alexander and his wife adopted five siblings from Haiti.

Also had real tragedy in his life. Decades ago, his mother, sister and two of her children were murdered in a home invasion. The killers went to the wrong house.

I also believe it was an Alexander tackle (as a 49er) that resulted in Gale Sayers first knee injury.

Then Tom Brookshier said on a national telecast, with Pat Summerall, that 'Phillips would be a star'.'
Had my doubts after that because Brookshier was wrong about everything ... always.
Personally and again very young I always liked Tom Brookshier and it's funny how he and Summerall once inseparable went in a different direction professionally. They hosted "This Week in the NFL." Which back then was when you could only truly watch highlights of your team.

Summerall & Brookshier were always the lead analyst for CBS, then they replaced Brookshier with John Madden and the rest is history.

This Week in the NFL was on Saturday nights in NY; and was a staple for a football fan. Showed 6-10 plays from every game.

Yeah, I can be be a little too harsh on pro football commentators and analysts.

Was re-watching the NFC Championship the other day. On the critical third-and-two slant to Kupp where he breaks free to the Niner twelve to set-up the go-ahead FG, Troy Aikman mentioned Emmanuel Moseley as being unable to maintain coverage. Mosely was not in coverage. Kupp was in the slot to the right and covered by 49er slot-CB K'Waun Williams. Mosely was on the other side of the field. These announcers have spotters to identify players ... which they should know.

Aikman is going to be paid a Million-$-per-game. That's a lot of money to give inaccurate information.
And I like Troy Aikman!

For most of the past five years, I watch Rams' games with the sound-off. Tape them; and listen after-the-fact.

I give them a pass because it's tough to memorize the rosters (for most people) although it's easy for me, however, the spotters could also be providing them inaccurate information.

I didn't mind Aikman not identifying the right DB because the move by Kupp and the throw by Saffold was the point of emphasis. When you think about it, that throw against San Francisco & the no look against Cincinnati was huge in so many ways.

I never watch the game with the sound off, but I also recognize that the announcers are not going to know more about the Rams then me. What I do like about Aikman is he was a Ram fan growing up and also Chris Myers who tends to repeat himself, but does make a few historical references about the Rams and that I like very much.

You are far more tolerant.

You think you’re better than me!

To a degree, I do have an arrogance about me, but I hide it well. It does come across occasionally for example with our Fantasy Football League we have had in place since 1996 I've won the Title 10 times and have been in the title game 13 times.

One of the newest younger members said to me: "You know Den, when it comes to football, you think you're the smartest guy in the room." And my response was: "I don't think, I know." So when it comes to football & history the arrogance comes shining through.

My two brothers and I watched that show every weekend (Saturdays). It was espn for football before espn. Lotta great memories of certain plays, players, and seasons.

Yeah I really liked it too, you can watch it on YouTube as I like to relive the 1973 season as they go week to week for that season the Rams finished 12-2 with NFLGOTW against the 49ers & Cowboys that season too.
